Music teacher: what instrument do you play?
Louis: pvc pipes
Music teacher: what?
Louis: you heard me
rimba tune?
You can also make a percussion instrument with pipes, as well as a didgeridoo!
Except that's a real thing people actually do, and your music teacher would already know Blue Man Group exists.

I’m a trombonist and I gotta say, this is not bad for a pvc trombone
Lol kid in concert band shows up with this

Interesting.
It would be fun to see this played with a real trombone mouthpiece.
It would sound a lot better, but good luck finding a mouthpiece with that bore size.
@@Stephenp503 just get a end cap and drill a hole the right size

"Is PVC an instrument?"
"No, Patrick, PVC is not an instrument"
@Jacq0: To the same extent as wood, brass, steel, etc. It’s just a material!
louis: yes patrick pvc is an instoment
@@supboi5155 is mustard an instrument?
It's an instrument.....
for creating something like this
Ey I can play trombone. You might wanna try making it with smaller diameter pipe, and I would look up the length of pipe in a normal trombone. I'm normally a tuba player so I know that my tuba has like 18 feet of tubing. I bet if you made it more specific you could make it really good. My friend has a plastic trombone and he loves it.
Unfortunately this is the smallest size of PVC that will fit together properly - but I did hear about the plastic trombones! Maren said that ya have to break them in?
@@Weisz Search for hot water pvc, it's a lot smaller :)
Your tuba has 18ft of tubing lucky
@@AlejandroFerrariMc I Think Thats CPVC?
@@joshveer1138 YES, CPVC.
the beginning sounds like any kid with a pipe

p bones arent terrible. my 40 yr old japanese yamaha still plays better than these pvc pipes though.
@@kimmel636 Yep, p bones definitely have a great sound. On the other hand, I'm sure anything sounds better than PVC but I mean 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Remember, this is the man who slapped a chicken so hard that the meat was everywhere
The intro could've been a potential meme.
What is that called? I have it on an old 78 rpm record. "In the Mood" by Glenn Miller I think.
Also bonus points to you! Apperently two songs have this tune? It’s also the tune to “hooked on swing”, though glenn miller might be the OG
Very solid jazz classic glenn miller was just about thee top dude for jazz I've played In The Mood many times before
@@Weisz "Hooked on Swing" is a medley number that includes "In the Mood" as its first theme (Then "American Patrol" "Sing, Sing, Sing" etc.)
The oldest version is by the Edgar Hayes Orchestra from 1938
Correct.
In The Mood by Glenn Miller! Classic! You should attempt Soulful Strut by Young-Holt Unlimited on that thing.
As a brass player who has played pvc pipes before, I suspect the tone of the instrument would increase a lot if you put a proper mouthpiece in there. Mouthpieces make a huge difference in sound, and jagged piping does not a good mouthpiece make.
honestly this is such a good channel. no 10 minute ads in the videos, just quality content

Unknown song: "In the Mood" -Glenn Miller
I think a cool feature would be to add a mouth piece that starts off as a semi-circle then a short tube like those seen on actual trombones, don't know if they sell them at home depot though.
4:19 that's sacrilege, it's Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra"
That’s what I thought

4:40 is in the mood by Glenn Miller. Literally had the sheet music of it open on my desk as my band is playing it for a show lol

It’s “In the Mood” by glen miller
No it’s not it’s in the mood
it's "in the mood" by Glenn Miller, but "Hooked on swing" has part of in the mood (and many other song) in it
I think I know what mojang use for recording the raid horn thingy sound...
Oh sh##
Oh sh##
This sounds just like it lol
This is how instruments will be in the apocalypse
it would probably work better with a bigger bell
That thing was like in E flat almost lol😂
As a trombone player this brought a tear to my eyes the sounds are from heaven themselves
Yeah, there is air in heaven, and air was definatly involved.
The reason instruments use brass is because it has this cool property that allows two pieces of tubing to slide inside one another without loosing air pressure or pulling more air in. This is also why its useful in modifying nerf guns
You know those videos of war vets surprising their moms and stuff? This gave me that type of joy.
AWWW THANK YOU
Literally, the onoy problem i can see, is that you used pretty big pvc. Smaller diameter ones would probably give an even better result. But impressive,n
The thesis idea is sound: one can build a working brass instrument out of nonbrass materials. I am collecting ideas like these so I can sponsor my own orchestra at the moment...
Only
@@axelpatrickb.pingol3228 Or buy the plastic Nuvo instruments, much less money than "real" instruments and they work fairly well. I have the pocket valve trombone that they call jHorn. www.wwbw.com/Nuvo.wwbw?typeAheadRedirect=true
William Osman brought me here lol. nice vid keep up the good work
“It’s hard to play high notes when the ombrocure is so big” just described the tuba.
It would probably sound a little better with thinner pipes and a smaller mouthpiece. Other than that, the fact that it can actually play distinct notes is amazing.
4:50 not entirely sure but that sounds like in the mood by glenn miller
CONGRATS
Actually, make a second one, but use some thinner piping.
You deserve way more subscribers your videos are so professional and sooo awesome

the pvc is very thicc for a trombone

Eyyyy in the mood
All the trombone memes in 1 song
PVC is awesome. I particularly like the PVC potato cannon I saw on a farm a few years ago. I wish someone would invent a PVC baritone sax - it'd be a lot lighter than the monster I lug around.

4:39 That's Glenn Miller's "In the mood"
This is AWESOME. If only I could make a PVC tuba and play it to my tuba teacher.
"Answer: I don't remember what this title is"
The Adams Family Louis, it's the God damned Adams Family
When he was like there’s a way to make this work I said a mouthpiece and he was like I can use this as a mouth piece and I’ve never been more proud.
Two years ago you made this video, but I only found your channel today. Anyway, checked the comments and nobody mentioned it. I recommend revisit this with a beeswax mouthpiece, like that of a didgeridoo, or you could shape a pvc cap to be a proper mouthpiece, by drilling a small hole and teeming it to whatever size you prefer
the song is in the mood. my high school jazz band has had it in the folder the entire time ive been in high school (senior)
That “unknown” song was in the mood
In the Mood??? Wow, that was really cool!
I play trombone myself, and it sounds like someone starting trombone. And it still sounds good
The song you couldn’t remember sounds like In The Mood. Was really cool to hear it here, my jazz band is currently playing it am now I’ve gotta get one of the trombonists to try this
this channel is underrated ngl
It sounded like in the mood
Very impressive work and outcome. Have you considered trying to adapt an actual trombone mouth piece to this pvc trombone? Would be interesting to hear that outcome. And, yes; I did play trombome in Junior High and High School. Played in both Concert and Jazz Bands.
This is actually pretty good
Damn dude that’s some nice music
4:38 Glenn Millers “In The Mood”
That intro is glorious.
FINALLY, someone who uses the puns in the title correctly
In grade school, 3rd grade, a brass orchestra came and performed for the school.
It was nice but it got really cool at the end when they pulled out home made instruments.
There was PVC pipe and water hoses and funnels used.
They then played The Simpson's Theme on them.
lol, that william osmand reference at the end xD
the beginning of the video sounds like the beginning of every band practice
5:30 Love any artist ability to say they suck while doing something most people can’t do with a disadvantage
That's a derpy looking and sounding trombone!

Thats great haha, I think it will work better with slimmer pvc, maybe it will be more tuned.
