I mean there is ONE key difference between me, you and him... He's with SAG-AFRA/Union, that's why he sounds so good, I mean you sound great as well don't get me wrong, you're a great actor but the issue here is that he works essentially with Hollywood since SAG-AFRA is basically the voice over version of hollywood actors.

Here's the thing, the auditions normally for shows like One Piece are closed auditions because they have to work on such a tight schedule. Not only that, you have to have a significant amount of acting experience to back it up. You have to have an agent who can negotiate a time to book you an audition with the company that's hosting the auditions, if they are an open casting call and then audition. But even then, that doesn't guarantee you the role. Matthew Mercer was brought on to One Piece, more than likely, either because he was in the area and was able to audition, or Funimation had scouted him specifically for the role. I don't 100% know the details, but I'm just deducing what might have been the case. Matthew Mercer under specific contract known as an NDA, or Non-Disclosure Agreement, cannot reveal information until his agent, or the client has given permission to him to do so. So he can't reveal anything unless Funimation has said that he can. No one gets special treatment. Not even his grandmother.
