blue_pearl_22 I realise that. The whole event was poorly done. People hardly knew what dates the World Cup would start or finish. In previous years they had it over the span of a week or so. This was in 3 days, with matches happening at the same time. Judging from all the comments saying how poorly informed the community were, I don't think I'm the only one saying this.
@@x_x9311 They announced the format changes last year to reduce the workload for the players since it's so close to OWL. I was actually super worried after ilios. Chengdu is just a super coordinated team, and it was literally just like putting team USA against an OWL team.

With the U.S. winning the Overwatch World Cup 2019 and China finishing runner-up, the Overwatch World Cup will continue. With overwatch's popularity declining and South Korea continuing to hog the title, Blizzard had doubted whether it was worth hosting the Overwatch World Cup. And Blizzard hosted this year's Overwatch World Cup in a drastic reduction. But now that the U.S., which has Blizzard, has finally won and Blizzard owner China has finished runner-up, the Overwatch World Cup will be held next year. Perhaps the regional qualifiers will also be revived.

I mean for the most part the roster was the same as last year, but this year we had super and Corey. I think it was a mix of our team getting a lot better in OWL and for some reason a lot of other teams just being shit this year. And I really hated the new format for the World Cup, I was switching through like 6 streams to watch games.
Joey Hazelwood the event format itself was fine with the group stage and playoff brackets, but they definitely rushed the event.
Ryan Rodriguez agreed. I didn’t know half of the games that were played today were even played at all. They were pretty quiet on social media today about it too which didn’t help.
@@bi9footrealm idiot
@@joeyhazelwood5994 but lets not forget that JJonak, Gesture, Fury, Rascal, twilight, slime all declined the invitation to play in OWWC (just saying)
How did a team with *Rawkus* beat China???
Carried
And sk
Rawkus always seems to perform better when he’s on team USA and not the outlaws (better coaching, better synergy, who knows?)
I tought the same lol, but he actually did something.
Spoken as someone who followed the meme not the season. Rawkus actually really improved in stage 3 & 4, especially on Moira and Ana
When did this happen?
Like 4/5hrs ago
They kept this low key bc USA v China is a hot topic rn 😂
What? No they didn't. The whole event was Low key not just the China match
If I didn’t have the Upcomer app I would’ve never known the World Cup even happened
I just missed the whole World Cup without knowing it even started? Wow. Just, wow.
Ngl I feel like Jinmu running the genji on Kings row and Dorado attack was part of the problem, like genji is just bad why not just play doomfist lol.
I feel like it was Eileen throwing ults
TitanDolphin Yeah Eileen three dorado. I’ll say, at least for the first two maps, jinmu and Eileen were a better DPS duo than Corey and sinnatra. They were popping off, and after ilios, I was pretty scared. Lol
USA used Genji against SK and destroyed them
Why didn’t do stream the preliminary rounds OWWC would have got more publicity this year because of it ; literally no one heard about it until it ended today
Cristuh They were streamed, they were just on 5 different channels at once.
Overwatch socmed have big community on FB/IG/YT and none of them talk about OWWC, i mean, is that hard for upload something like this "OWWC is begins now" 😂
They did
The announcers make this way more epic
This world cup was a chaos . No proper information on what's going on
Unless you actually looked for some information, you'd find everything instantly
@@thebiskymaya no need to look if they showcased properly
Elliott Bathwater You’re absolutely right in that it’s on everyone who didn’t know to look it up. But something must be off this year if so many people are commenting they had no idea. I only knew from a random non-blizzard tweet. I visit gaming related sites pretty frequently like kotaku/polygon etc and must have missed everything...
Oh didn't even know when it was lol..
They didn't seem to announce anything.
why would they? This has been taking place during Blizzcon for 3 years in a row now. Keep up LOL
blue_pearl_22 I realise that.
What I take from all those comments is that most people have just become too lazy to do a 2 minute google search on an event that literally takes place at the same time every year. I'm not even a big fan of the WC but even I couldn't escape the information on it on social media.
@@bluepearl_22 speak for yourself
@@x_x9311 I am LOL
GUYS, It's Blizzcon weekend...of course there was a World Cup.
as a China team fan USA team is just too GOOD
imagine chengdu Hunter VS sfs
we know who will win before IT started
Still great to see that chengdu are close enough to meet them in finals. Looking fwd to owl next year
I was actually super worried after ilios. Chengdu is just a super coordinated team, and it was literally just like putting team USA against an OWL team.
liang qian it will be totally different if leave can participate in this wc
Leave is so flexible. And dps players in team china wont be that tired under this rushed schedule
Chengdu actually beat SF... If China won the first map, I think maybe that miracle could’ve happened again.
This World Cup was formatted super poorly and clearly disadvantaged so many teams, but god damn it it was so good to watch the US finally win.
How to make this better have the preliminary take place last weekend online and stream the teams who have a chance. then this weekend do the group stage and spread out the times. The first half of the teams on sat and finish on sunday
As an outlaw fan it feels good to see rawkus final win something 😂😂🥳
Wasn't last year's world cup a lot more spread out? I remember there were like matches at Incheon and Paris, and I also remember there was some crazy match between uk and france and the french crowd was insane. This year it felt so congested, like the whole event in 3 days?? Also the production this year was just so much worse.
They literally addressed this last year when they said they were gonna change the format in order to reduce the workload of the players, especially since the WC and OWL are so close together.
@@bluepearl_22 Ohhh makes sense
The world Cup where Canada came 2nd and xqc was named mvp was a lot more hyped than this world Cup where nobody knew existed lol 😂
golden year for sinatraa super and moth
New mode Rush looks Pog
To the clowns making comments like “i DiDnT eVeN kNoW iT sTaRtEd” its because half of you were watching Fortnite and League of Legends. USA was dominating the OW World Cup all weekend and it was sad to see Fortnite and League with 400k viewers while the World Cup stream was around 50k. Don’t blame blizzard because you’re clueless
thats blizzard's fault for not marketing it better. I knew that it was happening but it was so fucking rushed and chaotic with no announcement that you can't blame people for missing it. Ofc its sad to see league with 400k viewers but thats because worlds actually is fun to watch and well organized not a shit show like this world cup was
Nah. Blizzard decided to just crap all over the marketing for OWWC because OW2 was where all their attention was going.
Blizzard marketed it fine. You just didn’t pay attention
Crislak Lol people keep saying that but I saw twitch ads, notifications in OW itself, the blizzard app, and RUclips. People just chose to watch fortnite
@@Kilgar- LMFAO imagine being so uneducated you think we all get the same ads. Blizzard barely bought any ad space and didn't announce it all. i think i saw maybe 2 ads in total, and i literally devour OW content, so that was with RUclips targeting it to me. They should have had a lot more ad space, and def had group stages. the whole thing was rushed and chaotic, and felt super cheap
I watched China vs France 2 - 3 days ago and Today my brother told me that USA won..This World Cup was so bad, I didnt even knew it ended. Jesus
When I watched it I was wondering why there were only like 50k live viewers. Apparently Blizzard did no advertisement whatsoever.
i watched it live. great tournament
We finally did it.
Had no idea this happened... USA
I like how both teams play the same heroes.......
Is this an official channel for a website or is the website just for the channel?
Wait the World Cup happened? Bruh I never heard a word about this at all! Wtf!
The current World Cup is like a carnival, a show.
OWL is more exciting
This game isn't the same to watch, shooting shields, immortality, shoot more shields, doom fist uses 3 abilities, some more shield shooting. I hope they fix this next season because at the moment they're using Overwatch 2 as a life raft
Lol and CS is just clicking heads.
I find it strange how people are complaining about not knowing that the world cup started, yet during the whole thing Overwatch's background was basically on the WC and there was a "Watch" button on the side. Am I the only one that plays OW, or are people hating Blizz cuz china?
Y'all are really good at commenting the same thing as the last 600 people.
My first thought was, "OWWC grand final without South Korea? For real? The fall of an era?"
uhm SK even lost to France in group stage. There are no jjonak and anamo in SK roster this year so SK is much weaker.
Cant wait for overwatch league 2
The thing is about people saying they didn’t know it happened. You can have notifications for play overwatch and the overwatch league on twitch. If you just use logic and realize that blizzcon was the last few days then you should know when it is. And twitter for overwatch has been talking about it too
The problem is that most people today need everything to be spoon-fed to them since they are incapable of informing themselves on their own.
