    Hi guys! I was so excited I totally forgot to mention how I hacked the pattern to dress length and will definitely include that when I finish of the dress hack. Basically I just lengthened the back pattern piece and one of the front pattern pieces. Hope you like the video :-). Hila x

    Great video. I was undecided about what length was my favorite until you put the belt with it. The dress length looks amazing with the belt. My favorite by far.

    Great idea turning the top inside out and putting it on so we can see the construction.

    I love it, thank you! This will be my first non-PDF pattern, so I really appreciate your insight. I love this top so much because many wrap tops are too revealing for me to wear to work. I appreciate that you modelled it inside out, that really helps see the construction. Your dress hack is gorgeous! Great job and thanks again!

    Thank for another joyful, happy sewing vlog. Your energy just jumps off the screen and makes me smile. Regarding the length, my first reaction was that from the front I like the dress length best. But it depends on how you want to wear it. Dress is dressier, more formal, office wear like. Also back of skirt looks bit tight, defining the back curve, so to say. Tunic length look more casual and playful, less curvy. I can see you in both. Good luck deciding and finishing. Looking forward to the results.

    Hi! I am actually making this pattern this week! I made it once before but I think it is perfect for Fall. It is pretty easy but I so agree on the instructions. In fact I made a booboo the first time I made it because the instructions were weird. The top and dress look great on you and I love your personality!

    Hi Hila, you are such a bundle of joy 😁. I love your Burda top and love the dress in all its lengths but if I had to choose, I would go for the longer version with the belt 👌. It looks like a great top to make and not too complicated👍😉😘

    I just made this one in this beautiful scarlet red jersey. Unfortunately, i was short on fabric and they cut it badly! So i shortened it, which did not work out well. I will need to make the longer version, but i do love it. It was easy to make tho the instructions were def hard to grasp...

    Saturday Night Stitch I use Burda style in German (because I am a glutton for punishment - LOL!). I have just checked my (German) copy of this magazine and it says to only use ‘Bi-elastisch’ jersey - which means 4-way stretch (all directions) as apposed to the more common 2-way (just on length/width). So there may be a mistranslation occurring here (if it says- 2-way in English)? Not sure if that’s a factor? Re: skirt length - I think it works at knee length as a more ‘serious’ piece, but is more fun/playful at shorter length or tunic. If any of that helps? Fantastic make by the way. I love your eye for design/colour matching, and the infectious joy you bring to your channel! More of the same please! 🙂

    • @SaturdayNightStitch
      @SaturdayNightStitch  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for that info Natalie! You are absolutely right - they call fabric that has both crossgrain and straightforward stretch "4 way" for the most part. I always thought of it as 2 way because it stretches both ways up and down as opposed to only stretching one way along the cross grain like sateens for example. Thanks for the articulate advice on the dress length, I am a big fan of proportion and you verbalised what I was struggling to understand in my head and why I couldn't decide ( normally am a decisive person😄) I will keep it at dress length and rock it with the belt. So glad you enjoy the videos too. X

    Hi Hila what a little ray of sunshine you are :-) I think this style is lovely on you and both of the fabrics are great. I think the dress to the knee would be good for work or day wear and the shorter styles for socialising. If it was the short version you could use it for both night and day, belt and high shoes for night and leggings/trousers for day. Thank you for sharing x

    You said sleeves were sort of snug - is the pattern specifically for knits, or for wovens? Your fabric choices were gorgeous, as usual. The top in that colorful knit just has a wonderful look and fit! I think the sleeveless one would work as a tunic. A sleeved, knee-length dress would look great too, like to go to work or out to dinner or church, whatever.

    • @SaturdayNightStitch
      @SaturdayNightStitch  6 лет назад

      Thank you for the kind words! The pattern is for knits - it does say to use 2 way stretch jersey in the recommended fabric bit. x

    Love yr blouse and love yr honesty telling us what went wrong and actually turning the blouse inside out for us to see and understand and the inside and cut ! I would like to sew this however I am not as slim as you maybe two sizes bigger what would u suggests as fabric and I think I should go up an extra size from my actual size since it seems very fitted , do u agree ?
    As regards yr dress I like the belt idea and also you might sew three or four buttons on the side , it would be stylish 😍 love the dress on you too, many thanks xx

    • @SaturdayNightStitch
      @SaturdayNightStitch  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the kind words. Regarding the sizing - I cut my size based in my bust waist hip measurements on BurdaStyle regular size (they have Tall, Petit, Plus, and Regular). It's drafted well so If you make sure to get your measurements properly and use the corresponding size it should be ok. The fabric needs to be a stretch fabric that stretches across the grain and along the straight grain i.e. 4 way stretch fabric. It should be stretching equally whichever way you pull at it. If in doubt make a trial garment in a similar type fabric. Since this pattern is already available as a paper pattern there are a few reviews online that you can check out. You might find someone else who is closer in size to you who has made it and get some insight. Just Google "BurdaStyle 6838 pattern review" and that will bring up a few. I hope that helps. Good luck. X

    I like the dress length, but with your figure you can get away with anything. I'm probably influenced by the fact that I can imagine the dress length on me, but definitely not the mini and I don't do the tunic legging look. In the end you'll make the look you love the most.

    • @SaturdayNightStitch
      @SaturdayNightStitch  6 лет назад

      That's such an interesting point about the influence of what you imagine on yourself - its something I do a lot when I evaluate patterns too. But it so quick I don't even realise I'm doing it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the length - I am leaning towards the dress length as well. Someone mentioned proportions and that immediately resonated for me.
