Ok so, once you level your abilities to level 5, you want to evolve them. To do that, you need 2 things. First, you need to have picked the stat boost that's needed to evolve the ability, like pickup range for xayah's starting spell. Then, picking up a card will evolve your spell. Cards level up a random stat or spell if you have no spell ready to evolve. Evolving spells should be a priority because it makes them way more powerful.
You can press tab to see which stat evolves which spell. To know what stat you need to evolve a spell of yours, hover your mouse cursor on the spell, and look for the line where it says evolve : name of a stat. By spell, I mean weapons, like the "uwu blaster", or "iceblast shield".

if you can evolve a weapon the access card is a guaranteed evolution
