The 1st season was good and what got me hooked and it seemed like they were going to head in a good direction but something derailed it and it's been a dumpster fire ever since.

This cast is a great definition of “I’m just here to get a check”.
They are TRAPPED because they signed contracts. Lili is actually quite talented (which is probably why she's so frustrated being trapped on a shit show). If they didn't have CONTRACTS to fulfill, these people could leave the show and get roles on better shows to get a paycheck! I do feel bad for them. Yes, the show gave them a degree of fame, but they are forever associated with a show that is a laughingstock to almost everyone. Not only is that embarrassing, but they are wasting years of their lives working for a lazy, showrunner who answers to no one, doesn't give a shit about consistency, good storytelling, or character development, & who has creepy obsessions with incest, sexualizing minors, & putting them in adult situations. I genuinely enjoyed season one. Twin Peaks, starring the Archies, and it *worked*. S2 was iffy...but they pulled it together... I made it three episodes into S3 before noping right out.
It really is a shame--these kids are so talented. I hope their post-Riverdale careers take off in happy directions.
