The fact that you have experience is good. Increase your army, train your soldiers. But not like here... in beautiful trenches that are upholstered with wood to keep them in shape and look good. Do it for real.

    This is quite scarily extremely relevant, as the Russo-Ukrainian War has indeed devolved into trench warfare. The thing is, even if we re-run the world like a simulation, at some point, technology will force us into a massive trench-reliant conflict for a few years, and then technology will end it just like it started. trench warfare is an inevitable phase in history, however it will not happen only once, as seen in the Iranian-Iraqi War. And I believe that trench warfare has returned for another phase. People always like to talk about how useless and terrible trench tactics were- but if that were the case, trench warfare would be an impossibility. The reason World War 1 became a trench war was because trench tactics were POWERFUL and near-impossible to defeat. As such, a tactic that has proved itself once, to be disproved later, will be forgotten and the one who brings it back will use it the best.

    I'm from Russia, BUT I'm against any war. First, you have to realize that Ukraine has so many agricultural fields. As the border between them we see so called "tree line". That's the main reason why you see so much of trench war as it was in WWI because the only place where you can put your troops is that narrow tree line. Obviously, in these tree lines you see complexity of trenches and dugouts.
    Second moment. I saw 🇪🇪Estonian flag, which is good in the sence that criminal putin, if he sees less inity in the collective West, could turn his seek eyes on Baltic states and or Moldova.
    Third. Sweden is behind Finland, so Swedish people could relax, criminal putin is 72 years old, so he won't make it till the war with Sweden even if he dreams about which i really doubt, because in war against Finland is a disaster in terms of time and casualties, especially killed by MR. Cold.
    Train as smart and hard as you can anyway because putin is not a suicidal type of guy. He lives in luxury and doesn't want to die.
    Forth. Just for the record. When you move through the trench especially in big number, in this war it's more than two soldiers, you should control the air, overwise you could miss a drone with drop or, which is more lethal, kamikaze FPV drone.
    Train wise.

    Seems to me like they need to improve the old battle drills on trench warfare. They needs to add new schools tactics or they aren't training for a real world battle. They need to have dozens on dozens of grenades, a drones providing intelligence on enemy positions, and comms with the operators. Those are just a few needed implementations. They needs drone operators harassing the entrenched enemy and much more. NATO needs to learn before they get people killed.

    while its great that NATO soldiers keep training and learning to fight all environments, we need to understand why warfare like this is happening in Ukraine. Both sides are too weak to push and perform any significant attacks. Its also caused by not sufficent counter-battery fire, no usage of air support in any significant way and unable to fully benefit from the support of AFV's. War with NATO would have to go really bad to the point that they also have to restrain to tactics like this

    • @kidmanwalters4236
      @kidmanwalters4236 9 месяцев назад

      It's all about momentum. If we can pull off what we did in Iraq and the middle east then sure we could make it happen . The Iraq army was large and similarly equipped. We also faced a lot of open terrain like Ukraine.However, the Russian army is larger, has more experienced crews and updated versions of equipment, more production capacity, and a much greater air defense and air force . As it stands if we declare war now and launch an assault in Ukraine we have ONE shot . After that we'll loose the momentum having to replace equipment and men and our lack of supplies and reserves . Sure we may have the navy and air force to gain the upper hand in those battles and they will provide us support and allow us to push forward but we'd be facing what the Russians are now . They completely outnumber Ukraine on the ground and in the air but they still can't achieve the breakthrough that we'd also be looking for in their situation. Drones , missiles , mines , and hand held munitions have changed the game . Soldiers in trenches are effective again and honestly safer than mobile or mech-inf in a drawn out engagement. Speed is no longer enough to ensure victory and we're resorting to heavy armour and earth once again for defense . Many thought the future would see the end of heavy infantry use ,the death of the riflemen , how wrong we were .

    • @kidmanwalters4236
      @kidmanwalters4236 9 месяцев назад

      The Russians as a rule are also very stout defenders due to their beliefs and callous nature toward death . Sure sometimes they collapse but when they get their shit together especially with their layered defences they become a real threat . As we seen in the south last summer . The layers of mines , barbed wire , tank ditches , dragons teeth , trenches , and dugouts spread over an area up to 50km deep in some spots was enough to slow us down and let the Russians real pride their artillery go to work on us . After those first few days , even hours it was over . We lost momentum

    • @kidmanwalters4236
      @kidmanwalters4236 9 месяцев назад +1

      We need heavy training in trench warfare and infantry combat . We also need to boost our production in all NATO countries 10 fold . Ifvs , tanks, planes, artillery ammunition, new infantry weapons with a larger caliber for trench fighting and defeating body armor. We have a lot of work to do that should have started two years ago or better yet in 2014 when we seen it coming . I believe in us and our alliance but if we're not realistic and call ourselves out and credit the effective moves of the enemy we won't prepare , and we will struggle in the coming Storm . I'm loving that NATO is waking up finally

      Russia is does not have an extraordinary military, they have survived against invasions because of the climate and their defensive tactics.
      In a war against NATO history will repeat itself and NATO needs to be prepared for Russian defensive tactics, while air superiority and support will be much easier
      We shouldn’t assume that simply because NATO could dominate the air that it would swiftly win the war. Combined arms and tactics are necessary

      I would underestimate the russian army. The russian army underestimated the Ukrainian army and got stuck in trench warfare. The same thing can happen with NATO, as of course there will be a conflict between them, or between China and NATO, who knows

    Ts funny people don’t have a clue ts in Ukraine is large scale combined arms positional warfare in Europe and yk it’s not just trenches there’s hard fortifications concrete bunkers shelters basements dugouts strongholds defensive belts and it’s about 20 or 30% modern all ts Ukraine is not flat the terrain is crazy theres high ground and low ground and so on.😂☠️

    I might sound stupid. But who builds the trenches ?

    Trench warfare is not so relevant if one side has air superiority, which NATO absolutely would. The only reason it's happening in Ukraine is neither side has the ability to dominate the skies.

      1) China has pretty capable air defenses NATO would not be able to just do whatever they want without decent risk to their aircraft/pilots. 2) When an aircraft is firing missiles or dropping bombs etc. you definitely have a much higher chance of survival if you're dug into a trench than just out in the open.

      @bestieswithtesties china does have capable air defenses but against the full nato airforce and navy? Even it would take all the air defense systems from russia and china combined to stop them from achieving air superiority.

    I think it’s unique to Ukraine.

      Trench warfare? Why would it be?

      For now it is. Trench Warfare returned in the Iran-Iraq War.

      The history of trench warfare begins in ancient times, but modern trench warfare really started in the 16th century (siege of Vienna) with huge modernizations in the 19th century (Crimean War). During all this time until today, trench warfare was never gone, only sometimes more or less useful in a given scenario. So it's not unique to Ukraine.
