Ultra-short-throw projection is usually associated with laser TVs which come with a 4-digit price... seems that JMGO is a new player in the gloabl projector market but they managed to bring the price down to 3 digits. I was pondering whether to spend $2000 on an UST laser TV until I saw their crowdfunding campaign. Despite minor issues I think this model is worth a try as an entry-level ust projector.
Good price but needs a lot of work re. Codecs and widevine cert 1. At 100inches a minimum of FHD is a must. If they can sort that out it would be a great buy. Thanks again for another outstanding review. 🍻
@@fhwolthuis It's just to look like they've got something (bloatware). Most modern things have functions that you don't use, for example my car has brakes, I've never figured out what to do with them and my mudic player has a reduce volume function, I can't imagine why.
I'm not knowledgeable about projectors, but at around 3:50 I see some lines moving from down up - Is this just from the camera? I'm guessing the room has to be dark and it's bad if you've got the lights on or if it's facing the sun?
This is a very good device. Reasonable 1080p, ok sound quality, but what I am really impressed about and am hoping more for is the actual size of the unit. I believe UST/Laser Tvs are simply are a far better and more practical alternative to large TVs that take up too much physical space, require drilling into and setting on to walls and too delicate/heavy to be portable. IF Ultra Short throw projectors/Laser TVs can + shrink in size + improve the in built speakers + advance auto/manual-keystone and have both auto/manual focus + shorten the throw distance requirements further UST/Laser TVs would outsell TVs.
This looks promising, I was looking at short throw projectors, but they start at £1000, and probably a couple thousand pounds if you actually want a good one. This is priced very keenly and looks good. I'm not to worried about the cons since I personally use a HTPC.
There's no reason why you would buy this projector (plus you probably need a good quality screen) over a number of 4K HDR TVs for similar prices. 1080p is too low for a projector at this price, unless it's portable as a travel companion (e.g. Xiaomi compact projector). At 70" or above you really need 4K. If you can't afford the Xiaomi/Fengmi short throw 4K projectors then just stick to a TV.
@@Avantime The point here is not about 4K resolution, it's about the UST in a projector. Usually, this technology usually comes in laser TV and costs a few grand. The fact that they manage to offer at this price, you shouldn't complain.
Hi can I ask do i have to set the auto and manual keytone everytime i restart the projector..I have this issue and it always out of alignment when I turn off and on again. Any advice. Thanks..
I don't agree that the sound is so great. It's basic. There's a lot of movies that I play that need more sound. I have my appleTV plugged into the HDMI port and I would like to have better sound. I tried plugging in an external speaker (s/pdif port) and it doesn't seem to play through it while trying to stream. Any ideas on how to hook up speakers to this?
They should just ditch the Android OS and put the money into getting native 4K through HDMI. I would much rather use a HDMI TV stick than using the build-in Android OS, especially as it's not exactly portable.
led technology, for light sources, is the worst, weak, not durable, that's why the big ones like, epson, nec, optoma, viewsonic, panasonic, sharp, etc, have never used that cheap and disposable technology, they use hybrid , led-laser

hi, is there any update for this UST projector?
I am an early backer for the O1, this video reassures I've backed a promising project!

You keep mentioning vlc for codecs, why didn't you install vlc to see if it made any difference?

Totally agree it needs that widevine lvl 1 cert
Nvidia shield will resolve a lot of the software problems
What's the point of building a device like this without widevine L1?
Just plug in something that does. It does, after all, have two perfectly good HDMI ports.
@@inkysteve I thought of that but what's the point of those apps
It’s adequate for casual use, widewine cost money

I could plugin my €45 Mi box S. But I rather have a (smaller) large screen TV which much better screen.

Hey Mate! Could you please get your hands on the Pro version of this and do a similar review? It will be much appreciated. Cheers!

I see some distortion at the top, is that because of the wall?
