When it comes to folk music, less is more. They nailed it.
New favorite friend
Wow. That's such a moving rendition. So deeply beautiful in a time when so many folks seem to feel compelled to play old-time tunes at breakneck speed.
When I discovered old-timey music in 1983, I concluded that much of bluegrass music was old-timey, played as fast as one can!
The most beautiful version of this song I've ever heard
Listen to Bruce Molsky's version he does in the Transatlantic sessions. Its very good.
@@peterjackson4623 It is indeed excellent but this is superior
Same
i dont know why but Brodie Buttons version is kinda my favorite.. extremely underrated artist.. give him a try
Same here. The drone. I've been coming back here for years now.
eight years ive been coming back to this favorite. I'm in western NC. This is the most beutiful version I have ever heard,
Truly the BEST interpretation of this song I have ever heard! You two have the gift!
A beautiful version and beautiful voice!
Appalachian people are so beautiful. They may be faced with hardship, but they make such beauty out of it. Much love from the Rockies.
Looking at the year we've all had I think there's fair case for taking on the hardship that is inevitable from branching into parallel society and living a life closer to the freedom the big man had planned for us. Two acoustic instrument and genuine souls singing has tears welling up in my eyes, there's virtually nothing in the music of the machine does that for me. Wishing all brothers and sisters in the rockies peace and freedom all the way from the Scottish Highlands.
Really amazing music. This is what another's soul sounds like - passed down over generations. You are hearing history.
younger generations need to hear this type of poetry more often!
Exactly. Well put.
Amen. Very well said.

Performing in the UP of Michigan. The trees and ferns are familiar. Lovely part of Michigan, maybe more like Appalachia.
Got wolves. Moose, Mines, Pasties and a few mountains. A lot of waterfalls and Lakes Superior and Michigan.
The Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island will take you back into the 1800s and you feel very special.
This music is perfect for the beauty of the land. Good work.
Laurel, I am from the Appalachian mountains this is the most beautiful version I have ever heard you all are great I love this song,,Thank you all.
When I pass, I would be INDEBTED if these two would play this for me as I go on my way,
Loved this, sure wished this kinda music was on the radio
That would be great. So-called music now is just noise.
they are too good for radio
>>>>>> the BEST rendition of 'The Blackest Crow' I've ever heard! Awesome!
One of few songs that gives me goosebumps and makes me want to cry at the same time.
I come back every now and then just for the goosebumps.
+Calamity Joe Where's Cotteneye Jane?
She's sittin' on the porch.
Best love song of all times.
This is the best version of this song I've ever heard. Perfect.
This beauteous melody resonates with the strings of the heart. A heart having been parted wide open with the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. The pining lyrical ballad of the lover to their mate that they are ne'er to see again. A haunting verse; the beauty in the pain. So well done you two, I look forward to seeing you live in the near future.
What a divine duet! Listening to this has been a spiritual experience. I feel a year or two have been added to my life expectancy.
In my opinion, Red Tail Ring is the best folk duo out there. Absolutley beautiful playing, both y'all!
This is Scots and Ulster Scots music and it's beautiful to hear.Love fae bonnie Scotland
God. So beautiful you brought tears to my eyes. I came on RUclips looking for other versions to supplement Brad Leftwich's round peak banjo tuition. I was purring at the fiddle intonation and gorgeous slow double stops, and then you starting singing... and then you both started singing. Wow. Wow. Thank you so much, this feels like finding a piece of treasure.
I can't get over how beautiful this is!
I have a thing for mournful ballads - this one touches me a lot. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful version, this lady is extremely talented! It frees the soul, so peaceful to the mind!
This is easily the best version of this tune I've ever heard
This is one of the outstanding performances shared by truly talented folks. The symetry of the lead voice coupled with the violin....accompanied by the d tuned guitar and parallel harmony of that fella' has put this at the top of acoustic perfection. All in front of an outhouse. Melodic perfection.....words from a breaking heart.
Great version. Certainly the most soulful I've heard. Every note seems important when played at this tempo.
This song calms me every time when I hear you two!
Dear God, I love this song so much.
This is how I am going to play the fiddle just speechless at how good that sounds. Great guitar picker I know I been playing for 22 years. Love this group.
Breathtaking…
Easily my favorite version of this song!
Man, this song makes my heart ache........
Somehow I went from my office being filled with the magnificent sounds of screaming metal - big guitars, drums, guttural vocals and piercing solos, to this. What a pleasure this was.
This is the soul of American culture right here. Just beautiful.
Ever since I heard this song I doubt if I will ever let it go again..
I love this song. I've been listening for years and I thought maybe I should just tell someone about it.
I love that song old time southern tune
Best version yet. I searched other musicians of this song and I found that this was my favorite. They both sung it and played it perfectly. Goes well at the end of summer and fall, puts me in a great mood even though it's a sad song. Thank you for posting this !!!

You know you make real music and real art when a simple piece of music turns into a masterpiece with only a few instruments, a beautiful voice and a perfect rythm... And it becomes a true spiritual experience that touches the deepest fiber of the soul of who listens to it. Sublime! 🙏🏻💚🎻🎸😊🤗

les larmes, mais en mėme temps, qu'elle joie d'entendre ces artistes d'exception. On jurerais qu'il y a 10 instruments alors qu'il s'en trouve seulement deux. Merci des tail ring. Inoubliable.
FINALLY figured out the guitar chords, including that beautiful last verse! I'd be happy to email anyone interested. On second thought, whoever plays guitar probably has already figured out the chords, since it's pretty easy to see on the video.
Wow! Beautiful.
