- A 2 hour softspoken ASMR expedition into a desert full of ancient magic. We are woefully unprepared to face it's dangers, but we are also broke, so we're doing it anyway.

Your channel is criminally underrated, Nightmother. You make amazing content!
2 hours is a gift
This was an amazing story, and I really hope you spin it out into a series! It seems like there is a lot of potential buried in the background of this setting!
This might be your best piece of storytelling since "The Misprint"...and a more immersive one, too, as this one has an active listening character.
I listened to this entire thing during a two-hour stretch of road travel today...coincidentally enough, while returning home after a weekend spend working in my capacity as the Dragon Merchant himself...
This will definitely go into my list of your audios to relax to, as well as the sleeping pill collection.
Exceptionally well done!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it, and had time to listen to the full video :) I hope I didn't reveal too much about the Dragon Merchant?
@@nightmotherasmr No more than he himself reveals to some folk...
You did a great job. What little you did tell only adds more to the mystique.
This is exactly what the doctor ordered
I am at the 1 hour 48 min mark, this thing has been crazy good. This could make for a very atmospheric movie. Thanks for your hard work.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the story. I considered releasing it as a series, but this way, there are no post roll ads between one part of the story and the next.
Was tuned into your channel by my favorite VA, and delighted to hear his appearance in your incredible work. No one who hears this cannot be truly impressed. This deserves a standing ovation
Thank you! We collaborated in this video as well: ruclips.net/video/CvBUELMrZ88/видео.html
I'm so glad you got to hear this...not just for my own humble contribution, but for the marvelous storytelling by the Night Mother...
I can't wait!!! ❤ Thanks Nightmother!! ❤
I hope you like it :)
This was so awesome! I stayed up the whole time to hear it! ❤
@@erinburch5289 Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
Oh my God you have the voice of Apollo. A literal godsend.😩
Thank you so much!
The ending is very smart! Opens up the possiblity for more stories from this characters perspective
Really need to take some time to listen to the whole story and not just go to sleep somewhere in the middle.
Thanks for another great story! :)
2 hours???
Duuuuude I'm sharing this
I'm going to enjoy this later on tonight, thanks.
What a treat
Holy, I'll listen it until Friday by small portions, can't even estimate how much imagination you need for such long roleplays
I really enjoyed developing this world :) Let me know what you think!
@@nightmotherasmr funny thing is, we are playing dnd with friends also in desert setting, and my character just got snake - like abilities, so your story matches perfectly with mine, like it could really happen in "my" past
Also it was interesting :)
@@snakeverg9390 Thank you :) I'm catching up on High Rollers' Altheya campaign right now :) I's always nice to hear that DnD-players enjoy my videos.
This is such a gem, I have come back multiple times but I never make it to the end because I zonk out. Thank you!!
I'm glad you like it so much :)
On my 4th listen, falling asleep before the end every time which I guess is the point. What a great story with a fantastic script and accompanying sounds. In my opinion one of the best asmr stories ever posted on YT. Thank you so much, you really make amazing high quality content.
Thank you so much!
I’d listen to so many episodes of this series
I will thoroughly enjoy all 2 hours, thank you!
Just in time for bed. 😊
Haha! I thought I heard the music at the start before! I heard it in Inkle's Sorcery series! You have good taste in freesound samples
Fell asleep listening to this last night and had some crazy dreams. Now I have to relisten so I know what happens.
At some point in this video, I say something like "be careful what book you read before sleep, the world of the book might follow you into your dreams..."
@@nightmotherasmr it certainly did!
Have confirmed...this definitely works as a sleeping pill.
Just found your channel and this was a great listen! Very relaxing, excellent soundwork and storytelling.
It even inspired a few ideas for a dnd campaign I'm running 😉
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it, and took the time to listen to such a long video.
Awesome!!
Great !
Listening through this again (while working on some leather projects, amusingly enough...Dragon Merchant doing merchant things...)
I'm getting mental flashbacks to a whole array of books and movies with desert imagery in them. Dune, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Ten Commandments, plus several more indistinct sources that I can't identify.
It's all very thought-provoking.
I also picked up a little more on the hints of old history and lore to this world...there is SO much more detail that someone could go into with this place.
I shall not soon grow weary of listening to this one.
I wanted to give the impression of an ancient world full of history, it seems like i succeeded :)
@@nightmotherasmr Quite so.
A fantastic tale, you really have a gift. Those Burnt Ones sound a lot like Ash Fiends. Bruno's mage wouldn't happen to be Telvanni?
I was thinking about Solsteim when I wrote them... But a Telvanni would never work for someone else like Bruno's wizard does - not if Neloth is anything to go by.
@@nightmotherasmr that is a fair point!
59:49 Leave the safety of the caravan to go explore the very dangerous desert?
Sure, why not?
Ruined temple, you say?
I'm in.
Wait, what are you reading for? Let's go.
Get rich? Well, ok, if you inist, but you had me at ruined temple and danger.
The fact that this has so few views and likes is a CRIME
Where did you find the sound effect for that slow, stone-on-stone grating of the doors moving?
freesound: freesound.org/search/?q=stone+door
@@nightmotherasmr Thanks!
I wish I'd known that creator has that sound...I've used others of his effects before.
