CHOCOLATE:
I mostly use candy melts in products like this, they are more predictable to work with than white chocolate and easier to colour etc as there’s no yellow tones to deal with. If you do use white chocolate, you will need to temper it. If using candy melts, I use a double-boiler. This is where you place a metal or glass bowl over a saucepan of hot water and slowly simmer the water to melt the chocolate. Always ensure you don’t allow the bowl to make contact with the water as this will burn the chocolate.
FILLING:
I personally use any sponge cake to mix with the buttercream to make a cake pop dough. I always use scratch made cake but if you prefer you can use a box mix. My cake recipe is quite moist and so doesn’t need a whole lot of buttercream or ganache adding to it to make a dough. You can also experiment with fillings such a mousse, brownies or truffle.
TOOLS:
Besides the obvious moulds, there aren’t a lot of complicated tools needed. I use an acrylic ball tool to spread the chocolate around the mould, you can also use a brush or spatula. You’ll need an angled spatula or bench scraper and some metal or glass bowls for melting the candy melts.
COLOURING:
If you need to colour your chocolate, I mostly use candy colouring by either colour mill or sugar flair. It needs to be a colouring specifically for chocolate (also known as fat dispersible or oil-based) as normal gel colours do not blend into chocolate and will cause it to seize.

Omg your just amazing! I love how raw (real) you are. Thankyou ! The first time I needed to make cakesicles your the first video I saw when you did half like gold and pink whiteish. Loved those cakesicles. I learn so
Much from your videos, thank you for making it easier for us!!
Thank you so much 😊.
Thank you so much I'm barely starting this for vday holiday and thanks to your video I haven't broken a cakesicile or heart mold thank you sooooo much
I so appreciate you saying these are hard your first try. I’ve been baking for years, was supposed to bring these to a party tomorrow, and it was very very hard to get these down. They did break coming out so heating you say that happens makes me feel so much better. Thank you!
Just found you as first time, brought loads of moulds want to get it right loved your tutorial and loved the chatter, made me chuckle 😃 I hope I get the guinness price.
Love the rambling lol and the bakes of course
Hi cuppa !! I’m new to the channel and I love your work. I’m a perfectionist to lol. I don’t mean to be that way but I am. I like things to look as good as it can. I also love your personality. It cracked me up when you said my little baby hahaa. Thanks for sharing you are just darling. Have a blessed weekend love 💕
Hello, I love watching your videos. I had my first go at making cakesikles at the weekend and they came out well. I just wanted to ask, when I did the gold splatter with luster dust and dipping solution it didn't dry, so when i put them into little bags it all smudged ☹️ how can I stop this from happening? Thank you 😊
Hello! You just crack me up, it's really like I'm sitting across the table from one of my besties having a fun chit chat while doing cakesicles! LOL ; ) These are gorgeous and yes I love that mix too. Have a great day...Big ((Hugs)) and Love from Texas!! xo : )
Thank you!
Amazing video thank you. To make the cakesicle shiny without using alcohol, what do you recommend. Thanks in advance
Hi, you can use a Pearl lustre dust and just dry brush it on with a large fluffy brush. Just make sure your chocolate isn’t sweating or wet when do you it
Wonderful tutorial love your accent and thanks for all the great tips
Haha I hate my accent 😂. I’m glad I could help! X
Fabulous keep up the good work 💕
Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial I am new at the cake sickles and yes I am with you on that they are very finicky your method seems wonderful from one rambler to the other I absolutely love it🥰you are a joy to watch just wanted to confirm the alcohol you mean that you are wiping with is like a vodka I’m assuming and here in the states what candy melts would you recommend I’ve used Wilton but they are extremely finicky and a lot of times do not melt well
Hi. Thank you for your lovely feedback. Yes, here in the U.K. I use vodka to wipe my mould. You just need one with a high percentage so it evaporates quickly. I know a lot of bakers in the US use Everclear. I mostly use either PME or Fun Cakes Deco Melts. I find Wilton very thick. Try melting them in a double boiler instead of in the microwave and add a little crisco (trex in the U.K.)
What boxes do you use to sell them to customers? Do you have a link?
It depends how many they order and if they’re collection or a setup. But for collection, I generally use boxes from Elite Packaging Company. Size just depends on the size of the order. But I tend to prefer the clear lid boxes
