Heck yes please to more detailed videos on high vs low contrast dressing with these different elements of style! That delineation of harmony vs drama is a lovely, poetic way of seeing our outfits and helps to move along the spectrum to suit how we feel each day 😃
I would do the opposite of what you personally are. Are you high contrast? Say blonde hair, but dark eyes? Go low contrast in your clothes to tone that down.
I love mixing styles - a classic blazer with a concert tee, a sweet dress with a Moto jacket. Would love to see more inspo! With the focus on Kibbe, Kitchener and the like there can be some pigeon (and rabbit) holes when it comes to style. We’re beautifully diverse, creative humans that can use these as tools, but there’s more to it. Lastly, Alyssa, my deepest gratitude to you for showing models with diverse physical abilities. Just because I may not move gracefully and without assistance it doesn’t mean I don’t love beauty and style.
This makes so much sense and helps bring clarity to how I dress.💡 I tend to like higher contrast colors together on me (usually can be found in black and white), but my pieces are very basic…crew necks, button downs, basic jeans, turtlenecks, high waisted slacks all in neutral -or randomly very bold-colors, but I don’t necessarily FEEL like I dress boring day to day I think now b/c I’m usually going high contrast in color. And on the days I feel extra dramatic, I’m usually playing up proportions or textures too, but always putting together my very basic pieces in different ways. Mind blown. Like you’re already doing it, but you have no idea you’re doing it. 🤣 So helpful for future purchases.
Hi Alyssa,, I just wanted to extend a very big thank you to you, because for the first time in my life, I completely understood how styles are put together. You have no idea how much I appreciate this 10 min video. Please make three separate videos to explain contrast in proportions, in colour and in mixing styles. I personally love mixing Romantic style with a bit of Rock 'n' Roll, like leather biker jacket with small floral print midi skirt. Kindly include modest styles as well for those of us that cannot show skin. Many thanks in advance. I look forward to your videos.
Loved this Vlog. Sometimes you talk about things that I am trying to work on. So this was helpful. I find I look best in high contrast colours especially in winter. Black is not my best colour but I find if I wear a bright scarf or golden jewellery with the black it looks good. So for bright/light paired with Dark. In summer I create contrast in more subtle ways involving shape. I'm so happy you are going to expand on this subject. BTW you look lovely in your Tee and the Red lip❤x
I would love a series of videos like this. This was the first video where I have understood a styling element. The visuals using different bodies and outfits really helped.
Hi Alyssa! Happy Sunday (reset day☕️🙏🏼) Yesssss Please I want deeper videos about each segment for colors/proportions/style, this is sooooo good and valuable❤
I love how you break down and explain concepts so easily and clearly with examples thrown in. It makes it so mentally palatable and easy to implement. Thank you Alyssa.
Yes please, I love it when you get in depth with these topics. Alyssa, you have a PHD in personal fashion. Your perspective is intelligent articulate. I could listen to you talk forever ❤
Thank you for deconstructing the style elements. It really helps to make sense of how an outfit works - or not. And yes, please, more on high-low contrast.
This weekend I saw a _young_ man pull off an all-black 3-pc "suit" (sports coat, buttoned-up vest, trouser) with spanking clean white sneakers. White shirt, patterned bow-tie, and pin (not pocket square) created balance and harmony. Best outfit I've seen in a while.
Great vide 👍🏾 I would love to see you get deeper into the contrast. I am trying to figure out what time of the day to go high, med or low. Or even which seasons to wear high, low or a mix of both. Happy Sunday to you and thank you 😊❤
SO well explained. You've touched on this before, of course, but this was a bit more about contrast specifically. Principle of designs are all about "how it looks." Contrasting or unified (which aren't mutually exclusive of course) is a core part of "the look." Thanks. Yes, please do more!
Yes please more content on this! All your videos are greatly appreciated, and hit the mark:) YES to how to figure out how to approach getting dressed for the morning, using these elements.
Brilliant! I had never thought of it in quite this way, so I have already watched this twice. I would definitely like you to expand on these categories.
You helped me name one of the (current) only style sticking points I have. Everyone loves me in strong colors. But I err to tonal neutrals. But now I know that’s because I’m very dramatic in proportions and style era/mood mixing so doing color too is just too much. And that lays that one to rest! Thanks
I am a mood dresser. I give myself a few different options because of my mood I put outfits together the night before and then if I wake up and I’m not in the mood, I pick something else so I always have two options.😊
I would absolutely love to learn more about this. I think it has definitely given me a totally different perspective on why I may choose certain things over others.
You deserve much more followers. ❤ Your work and your videos are fundamentally in this world today. You help to create a better world. I Love your enormous creativity. Thank you so much. Warm greetings from Germany
I love harmonious proportions and because of my coloring, I look best with a bit of contrast in color. It makes sense that I am drawn to this combo. And I love to mix styles a little. Please do more on this! This really made sense. WHEN is the next Live Shop Your Closet?
I'd like to see more about this, especially style and proportion mixing. It's going to take us to the next level. With the examples of proportion, I would have thought some of those harmonious examples were voluminous, and I'm never too sure. I like some drama, but I'm small so perhaps that means I can achieve it easily. Love the content.
Hi Alyssa. Thank you so much for this video. I would like to learn more about mixing porportions, styles etc. I have noticed that i am like you when it comes to contrast. I also like low contrast when it comes to porportions and culour, but i find it difficoult to keep building new outfits and i feel like i am going in a style rut.

Sounds good !
