I think the B&Q lass would have perhaps know what you were after IF you pronounced it correctly.... "Can I have a pee-ooo-zah-la-rar-lec-tric-spark-lor?" "Dafuq?"
Smith trying to get that spud gun to work is like watching Simone Gertz or Stuff Made Here with all the understanding of physics and engineering surgically removed.
Man, smiths dreams of tater rifle were almost realized. If only he hadn’t kept flooding that tiny combustion chamber with spray. Might have worked if he had a larger combustion chamber to get more air in the mix.
Some absolute madness haha. With amazing editing Creggle, good job! Glad to see Smith's E in electronics come in handy, though all of that cannon build up was terrifying. Very much looking forward to the corresponding Shlog!
It makes sense that the most successful pancake ever made in one of these videos (based on the criteria of what they had to make) is a bulletproof one.
If you want the potatoe cannon to work better I'd recommend less gas as butane (the gas in hairspray) is explosive in a 1:6 ish mix so there was probably way to much butane. Happy pancake Day lads
Legit surprised in every form that they were just blasting at these pancakes and felt trusted enough to stand behind them and WORK. Loved this year's Pancake Day video!
This is by far my favourite pancake video from the boiks! As much as I love their usual chaos on pancake day, this one felt almost like a mythbusters episode. They had a goal (to see if they could make bulletproof pancake), and they went about using various ideas and experimentation to try and achieve it, it was honestly really fun to watch! And of course the tense moments when Smith was trying out his potato musket was also A+ content
That apron is so coooll!!! I might pick one up! Also, Pancake Day is some of the best content y'all do every year. This year feels really like a massive science experiment and I love that. Keep it up, lads!
When my stepdad & I made a potato cannon, the ignition chamber was much bigger than that, my guess is the air/fuel mix is off in some way, might not be making enough pressure to go boom. I love the gerry-rigged lighter igniter, though. We used a coleman lantern lighter, but what would actually probably work well is a BBQ igniter, for like a propane grill or something.
It’s actually quite calming watching Smithy clinically disassembling potentially dangerous things to build a definitely dangerous thing in the hopes of penetrating a worthers glazed pancake
loved the video! There was also this strange sensation where I was watching a hat films video, but every time it cut to smithy, he seemed to be making a lot of sense.
I haven't watched a Hat video for about 6 years after things went down and this one was a great one to come back into. Hopefully I'll be able to make more time to watch again. 😊
For the potato canon it was too much gas in the chamber, also having the igniter closer to the rear also gives more chance of having oxygen so it can spark. I have a 10ft potato cannon and it can be difficult to ignite because of the amount of gas is very specific and I also put the igniter to far forward, but my 6ft potato rifle is much more reliable.
When I had my big boi potato gun, I found the most success came from: spraying ignition mix in chamber closing it up putting potato in tube shoving potato down tube that way you're allowing the air to mix in with the gas, then condensing it with the ammo Happy shooting!
last time i made a spud-gun, we found that we were using *far* too much hairspray. literally the tiniest spray was enough to get the right fuel/air mix. with a combustion chamber that size it'd likely require even less hairspray. when you put in too much you wind up with hairspray liquid, which will ignite but wont be good for launching stuff.
"look down the barrel of this flamethrower while i light it" Fuckin' love you boys ahh that was glorious. what i'd give to see the looks on your neighbors' faces while you were doing this...
There seem to have been some wonky bow shooting, the arrows looks like they hit the pancakes far from straight on, they almost hit sideways. So the issue was likely too much arrow wobble. The bow also seemed to have a very low draw weight, so even with a correct hit who knows, but I feel like there would at least be some penetration and/or making the pancakes fall off the line.
I'm glad they have Smith something he loves doing again. Whether it's building potato cannons or instantly breaking a foldable mop. Our Smith has always been the handyman.

Can't be a Hat Films video without Smith getting high on some sort of fumes! An instant classic.
Yea but usually it's not on camera. We were truly blessed this time.
This video was amazing, might just be my favourite pancake day video yet and I thought the Chainsaw pancake tower moment could never be topped!
Smith's TA training comes in handy yet again!
unfortunately his skills have been dampened by a lifetime of solvent abuse
That's what happens when you forget to cut TOWARDS Trott
I always love how happy smith looks while playing with (insert any here: Guns/explosives/knives/other dangerous thing)
me too aha watching him explain everything with this big grin on his face, you love to see it
Smith's potato gun gives me the vibe of dud mines in Worms.
It reminded me of smiths “firework launcher” in the block n load videos, glad the fire department didn’t genuinely have to turn up this time
@@Cheesepuff8 Oh man, those videos are legendary.

It's amazing how much Smiff learned during his time in the TA.

Hat Films has made me more excited for Pancake Day than for Christmas
Hell yeah it's Pancake Day!
Edit: "Don't inhale this!" passes it on to everyone. good lord.

We need a re-do on the potato cannon. I feel like Smith was close to getting it working, just needed a few adjustments
It makes sense that the most successful pancake ever made in one of these videos (based on the criteria of what they had to make) is a bulletproof one.
The milk sound effects are subtle but amazing
Can you imagine just chatting to some guy, standing in a line somewhere and he says, "ever tried making a bulletproof pancake?"
Sad part is, i would just be like. Do you consider a crepe a pancake? then ramble on about copying the paper armor technique.
If you want the potatoe cannon to work better I'd recommend less gas as butane (the gas in hairspray) is explosive in a 1:6 ish mix so there was probably way to much butane. Happy pancake Day lads
When you said butane I was initially worried because they have a huge canister of butane in that warehouse

It's always Hatfilms that remind me it's pancake day.
What I learned is that if I ever go airsofting, I should make a vest out of burnt and carmelized pancakes to wear.
This was legitimately a pretty cool process. Sure it’s air soft rounds, but I was surprised by the results.

This video is just a pure force of chaos. I love it
This worked so much more than I thought it would
Always look forward to this
Trott's "this is probably the most edible pancake we made" pancake that could stop bb rounds. That's stretching the defintion of edible surely
I'm late, but this was the most Mythbusters thing I've seen since Mythbusters! I really hope the boiks do more like this!

You should take the most durable of those pancakes out to a shooting range and try testing them against low caliber bullets xD
Could we get a cut of just all the scenes with Smiffy building and talking about the potato rifle? I feel like that would be hilarious.
Yea, the narrow and long combustion chambers are tricky. Hard to get good air/fuel mixture. Usually they end up way too fuel rich.
