It is so rare to me that book adaptations show the characters so well, usually from a lack of time, some side characters are dismissed or some characters lack the personality they have in the books because that “one joke” couldn’t fit into the story. Because this was an entire season, shadow and bone was able to do this, but they showed the characters better than I ever thought a book adaptation could. I didn’t expect genya and zoya to have so much depth (like the scene with zoya and the darkling really showing how manipulative he was to not just Alina), I didn’t expect so many side characters to have their chance to shine and show non readers who these characters are, but shadow and bone did that. Book adaptations aren’t about telling the story exactly from the book, but they’re about keeping the core of the story and the core of the characters, and this show did that beautifully

I just finished my first watch of Shadow and Bone (will rewatch the whole thing again and again✨) and honestly, I'm so emotional. Recently, I got the book and started reading it and managed to finished it before the show, and this has been one of those magical moments I'll look back to very often from now on. The book to screen adaptation is SO good! The show gives so much humanity to the characters and gahhh the casting is PERFECT. I love screen Mal way more than book Mal that's for sure😹 and you can clearly feel good writing, effort, and thought are given when they're crafting Shadow and Bone into a tv series. This is also probably the first time ever that I truly truly truly felt the wonders and necessity we need for diversity. Seeing Jessie as Alina on screen like this made me so emotional: I see myself in her. This is the first time that I, as a long-time lover of fantasy materials, felt not only included, but empowered. I plan to make some videos about Shadow and Bone on my channel because it has changed my life in a sense. I've been going through something rough in life and reading this book and watching the show have guided me through my own shadow fold in my life. And I know I'll be ok and light will prevail.❤️ Hope you're all doing well! (And OMG isn't Ben Barnes amazing as the Darkling? Those who said he can't pull it off, please line up over there and repent your sins to the Saints.)
what i was most impressed with was how they altered some of the events from the book to screen in such a way that it would have actually appeared canon in the books.....like the crows being at the grisha party..although the crows were never mentioned in the shadow and bone books looking back it would be plausible that they were at the party cause there was nothing to contradict..also the crows ending up being the occupants of the wagon that alina ran off in...there were moments they altered in a smart way and although not all of them could be said to be canon to the books ( for example meeting zoya and mal way earlier than in the books...some moments brought about how some of the characters met like how nina met the crows..i'm really excited for how season 2 turns out

Beautiful!!!!!! Ty to netflix for giving us this interview 🥰🥰🥰
Season 1 was AMAZING, I really hope we'll see more of them in the near future ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey, Netflix, this is a GREAT idea! Keep up the idea of keeping authors INVOLVED IN THE PROJECTS.
I love both of these authors and their works so much! They're great people and writers and it's wonderful to see them interact. I'm obsessed with the Grishaverse and the show and cast is incredible! (Now I can't wait for Jenny's Summer I Turned Pretty tv adaptation!)
WE NEED SEASON 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
