In this week's update, we make changes to the @Dodge Durango screw blown Hemi project. We are getting closer with the blower setup and have the last major component of the billet water jacketed block completed.
Sick Week 2023 is a go and we are going to celebrate by giving away some free entries. The world's fastest street car Sick Seconds 2.0 has to get ready for testing and Jason Sack is in the shop with the Cowboy Up Nova.
We have some cool new merch up at www.sickmachining.com too including Sick The Mag orange hats and shirts!
"JUST A THOUGHT" As a retired fab guy [off road] and having designed many championship cars in the old days I would place everything that went in the car with flat strap vise grips, etc then look at the access for maintenance then I would design the cage around that. another thing I did was put all my electronics in containers on lords mounts with cannon plugs this made again maintenance easy and if you had a problem, change out the box or that section of harness made it real easy Just a thought
Man: sees beautiful fresh machine work
*immediately sticks finger in a hole
Hay glad to see you have My engine block already to ship it looks fabulous I already paid for it so we're all good. GODSPEED TOM YOUR CHANNEL ROCKS
Your looking good Tom.. You look like you lost quite a bit of weight..! Good on ya.. Every little helps to hit that next 5sec run (Respect from your Irish/German Subscriber 🤟🏼🍀🇺🇸🦅🇮🇪💨)
Tom said a month or two back that he was having issues with the Haas Mill not repeating! It certainly isn't in those photos.
wait is the new engine sponsored by DUNKIN DONUTS
Looks like the BELLY has been on donuts and Alchohol
Or Pepsi
It looks like some head bolt holes are out of location. Toward the front of the motor there's a slot the length of the counterbore because one hole is out of relationship to the other!
And Pepsi
or some other features are relatively speaking out of location!!!
Won my class at Rocky 1.0. Might have to take advantage of my entry to sick week then.
I'm glad I'm a sick mag subscriber! I'm so excited!
Looks like Sandvik FTW with those boring setups; might even be their dampened silent tools. Glad to see you've got some guys with the knowledge to keep moving on the block project. I bet it feels great to see that coming along!
Good to see the Haas machine working as it should. Durango progress looking good.👍
A friend worked @ Haas years back. Gene Haas is smart Business man!!
Bob was always a blast to work with at skinny. Funny and extremely talented fab guy I’m glad he’s in a better spot lol.
Holy cow, 85k car plus 120 build. What an undertaking! So cool to watch this come to fruition.
Sick Week was a blast. I know my buddies Josh and Cameron enjoyed going to it and doing the live stream of it.

I retired from machining aluminium (yes, it's spelled that way) 30 years ago, right when CNC was taking off. I'm amazed that you can machine interrupted cam tunnels with freaking boring bare, of all things, with no reamers required. Very, very impressive stuff, but judging by the comments below billet blocks have become so commonplace they've become ho-hum. Not machinists obviously.
Been looking for machinist or anyone willing to get trained for years. The gage shop I'm at has people retiring and will be screwed soon.
I love the wagon that Steve Morris runs. Hopefully this will be along those lines!
Jeff Lutzs channel has a video of cage they put in Clay Millican’s 4 door Ram. They made it so passengers can fit.
HURRY UP WITH THE BLOCK STEVES NEEDS IT. HIS HAS HOLES.
The problem with four door cars with cages is the door opening is so small, and the cage is in the way, hard to get in and more importantly out when you’re on fire
Roof escape needed.
Hey Tom, just a suggestion try running the Alternator off the diff, a mate built a bracket and he run’s off it, good luck with it mate ✌️
Cannot wait for Sick Week 2023!!!!
Man talk about living the dream I am totally covetous! All Your work is bad ass awesome stuff.
I was excited for you when I see the title. I thought that you were able to get your machine up and running finally.
Do subscribers in Australia still have a chance of getting a colder ticket also
Great content thanks for sharing
What happened to Steve Morris building your engines
Look closely. It has SMX machined into the front side. That is a Steve Morris engine.
Steve would own the design and computer tooling path etc?
@@jubu3136 Yes. I wonder if Steve is planning to contract out the machining of SMX parts to Tom. Might be one of the reasons Tom bought that crazy HAAS machine in the first place.
@@MX304 Haas does not make a great machine. They wander tools paths. Not great spindle rigidity. They like to lose home. You’ll see them used in marginal tolerance components such as screws/bolts and face finishing projects. Also the conglomeration of Haas machines that he had for a “5 axis” machine didn’t work.
@@MX304 Steve said yes to something along those lines in reply to a comment one of his recent videos.
It always only needs a couple things, that turn into 34 other lil jobs hugh Bobby LOL
That is an impressive GUT! 🤣
Sick Week 2023!!! Cant wait!!

Cut the A, B, and C pillars out from the inside. Remove all the structure leaving just a Durango skin. You don't need any of it for cage certification. It simply adds weight and takes up space.
Man I hope your program is correct. You don't want to scrap that chunk of aluminum
Busy, busy, busy ! Thanks for the update.
Just stopped in and saw your car at Summit today. I looked through the clearance stuff while I was there but I specifically stopped to see Sicksecond
Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet...tell the office boys to work from home!!
You had me at aussie style burnouts
Tom Bailey and the sick second factory
Giving out golden tickets just like Willy Wonka.
Never saw a followup on the problems and saga of the HAAS..Did they make it right?
I think the machine shop is using it like it’s 2 separate machines. A lot of the problem Tom and crew were having is that the machine is basically 2 in 1 and the 2 weren’t working together right. And, they didn’t have the time or know how to really deal with it.
I think the workaround the machine shop is doing is basically doing all the processes the one side can do, then reposition the part and do the next round of processes.
No
Thanks for the new video, Tom.
WELL WELL WELL
WOW THE HANS OMG lol i gonna need a bigger hammer lol
So, the Haas is up and running ok now?
Any news from Haas on getting the machine to work correctly? I watched the May 4th update and skimmed a few newer vids so may have missed it, but if there's "new" news please let us know. Also, I'm guessing the long boring bars have anti-vibration features, how do your guys like them?
Update just posted. HAAS has screwed him pretty good
@@ChevTecGroup Thanks for the notice! Grrr, Haas pisses me off sometimes...
Edit: found one from Oct 5th 2021: ruclips.net/video/WPslSjMNEsc/видео.html, still looking for whatever's the latest news.
Quick Question.. ( i am NOT a machinist so forgive me if this question sounds lame ).. BUT.. How did Moving the Hass Machine to another location.. Fix it's issues.. Thanks 😟
The guy who’s shop they moved it to figured out a work around
Sounded like Tom said Draino project. lol like it Drains cash from the wallet lol
How is DT coming along with the '55?
Yes, its a Sickness, so we need to know how its going
Lots of good stuff
Darn I wish I knew you were coming to Virginia hell I wish i remember it I live 20 minutes for Dinwiddie
Is this a mopar based engine?
great episode !!
Sounds like I'm hearing a wide format printer in the background, not printing bi-directional.. for some reason.
maybe I missed the update but did sickness become the Durango project?
Was that Steve Morris’s shop?
Didn’t look like it
Great video as always
That was his buddies shop where the Crap-Haas went the other week.
Cant wait to see it driving
ruclips.net/video/-NxC0aZzvAQ/видео.html
How's the nomad coming along at Dennis taylors
TOM BAILEY!.....WHY NOT 3D SCAN THE INTERIOR! IT TELLS ALL TALES BRO!
While Bobby is being a painter, Tom looks like he's taking up carpentry.
Is sick week going to be in Georgia and Florida again????
If you really want to hide the roll bars as much as possible you can recess them in to the body pillars and after there in and done weld the body to the cage . If it's done right you won't see it from outside and when you sit in the car the pillars just look a bit rounder then normal . It's an absolute pain to pull off but once it's done it's the coolest cage set up you have every seen.
ruclips.net/video/-NxC0aZzvAQ/видео.html
No problems getting certed when they can’t see welds etc?? I find that hard to believe although it would look clean
The hellcat come out of the SUV are you auctioning that off or giving it away or selling it I want to put it in a Jeep Cherokee all-wheel drive
Are you going to cryogen the block and components?
Weston chapman needs to stop blowing up his shit LOL
Tom was that your haas machine?
Great updates! Cool deal with the golden tickets.
This engine looks like an SMX. Is it based on a similar design?
I'm guessing it's an SMX and I'm guessing Morris did okay this build. After all, Morris is running with Tom this year, and I doubt he would do that if Tom stole his design. My guess is that Tom acquired the programs and then do the work to save some time and cut some costs.
Is this block made with your Haas machine?
Oh ouch!
holy shit!! PLEASE stabilize the video!! my fucking head!!!
hey let me poke some holes and make engineering plans very loudly
Nice 👍👍👍👍
1:13 Charles Manson is still alive?
Dear Santa…

Gosh that Pepsi drinker either has rum in his drink, or is the janitor.
5000HP will get you high fives for sure.
As long as weight and aerodynamics are considered.
That block has problems!
Steve Morris eat your heart out. That Haas machine is 👌
I don't think Morris is lacking anything. It's his design in that machine.
@@AB-80X no I know. It was kinda of a bad joke I guess but that haas is a pretty sweet machine. If I offend anyone I’m sorry , my bad
HAAS WHAT IS GOING ON WITH IT MY FRIEND JUST BOUGHT ONE
ruclips.net/video/-NxC0aZzvAQ/видео.html
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
shrinkage is never good!
And what if those people don't have cars
ruclips.net/video/-NxC0aZzvAQ/видео.html
Steve Morris SMX engine
Your talking about everything but the engine. 👎
shit you shud work as moutch as you are talking OMG
ruined a 100,000 dollar suv
Motion sickness from that crap camera work.
Next video will be the smoothest shit you’ve ever seen you have my word 💪
@@jadensweeney I like your channel, I’m not going anywhere.
What's with all you car guys hosepipping the camera all over the place? I stopped watching Cleetus because he was forever doing that.
Unwatchable. do better with camera.
So the whole video is unwatchable 🤣😭
Whatever, I didn't have any problem watching it.
build a real car throw that thing in the trash
So the goal now is to build the ugliest race cars that can possibly be built? Got it.
That's a great start.
