Just learn to play the song on low tempo. Never try to master a song at a high tempo before you learn to play it very well slow. Build muscle memory and then slowly pick up the tempo. You'll do well. We all went through that phase. Hope this helps :)

Jim Root is not always beginner guitarist friendly. The dude plays very uniquely compared to a lot of other musicians. But Before I Forget is a very simple song. Hardest part is the bridge. Maybe not very simple, but it's the easiest Slipknot song. Just gotta listen to the song and get the timing. And the bridge isn't that difficult. But there is sliding down in it so that can be tricky. Chorus is pretty easy. Just gotta watch some covers so you get the timing. The Red by Chevelle is a pretty easy song too. Just a few chords. It's really simple but that's one of my favorite songs to play. You'll get there man. Don't give up if it's something you enjoy. You just gotta be patient and keep working at it. Also, once you learn an artists song, you kinda start to feel their style a little bit and it becomes easier to learn other songs of theirs. My favorite song to play on guitar is Sulfur by Slipknot. That's such a fun song.
