Great reaction, thanks and welcome (back) to BABYMETAL. Yes, it's been a long journey since "Gimme chocolate". And well, after 14 years they are now better than ever. They are very diverse musically and in constant evolution. "Metali" (metari) = "metaru" (metal) + "matsuri" (traditional Japanese summer festival). So it's a "matsuri" influenced song and it's all about hyping the crowd and inviting them to dance and sing along. And yes, I'm lucky enough to have experienced this one live a few times and it's an absolute madness. 😁 Musically, it's very groovy and funky. I love Su-metal's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!". And very happy for Momoko on her first song and music video as an official member and also for her feature on that kabuki style interlude... and the growling! By the way, this wouldn't be the last time she has done something like that because she did it again in the Legend-MM shows during "Headbanger" (aka "Momobanger") and "Meta Taro" (aka "Momotaro"). Also on their very recent collaboration with Electric Callboy "RATATATA". Regarding my previous comment, you probably should know that BABYMETAL are: - Suzuka Nakamoto as SU-METAL (lead singer). - Moa Kikuchi as MOAMETAL (backing vocals and dance). - Momoko Okazaki as MOMOMETAL (backing vocals and dance). Official member since April 2023 after being one of their three backup dancers (Avengers) since 2019. Former member: - Yui Mizuno as YUIMETAL (backing vocals and dance). She left officially in 2018 after not performing since October 2017 due to health issues. With Suzuka and Moa she was one of the three OG members since their origins in 2010. They are backed by a group of session musicians known as Kami Band. They were introduced progressively since 2012 becoming permanent since early 2014 (when they started touring worldwide). Originally they wore white traditional burial robes and face paint, depicting the kamis (gods or spirits) of each instrument. They started wearing darker robes in 2018 and then, masks in 2019 with the addition of a second set of the band formed by American musicians, the ones you saw here and the ones that have performed in their last 100+ shows. I don't remember following your BM journey but I'm always glad to see more reactors and old BM fans coming back to listen more of this amazing group. Today they just finished the first day of FOX_FEST in Japan and they did the live premiere of the new collab along with Electric Callboy, everyone went bonkers with that awesome collab, pretty sure it's gonna be the hit of this 2024 summer, so go ahead and check it out while is hot. They also played this song with the usual Kami Band intro only in this song. We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this at the recent World Tour 2023/2024 and getting the crowd going bonkers with this. The live debut was at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show prior to the track release, it was fun and totally unexpected, everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it. There's a live proshot version at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka released in the official summer sonic but it's heavily blocked, cool we got this new proshot version without copyright blocked. You'll notice some slight difference between the live and the studio album. The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal is doing the Kabuki moves style. Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune. I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts. So I've actuallybonly been doing music reactions for about a year now. Listening to babymetal back in the day, was when I was younger, just starting to work full time, and cracking their songs on my ipod touch 🤣🤣🤣 good times. Today's reaction definitely felt like I was taking a trip back in time but also just getting shocked with where the girls are now! It's ten years since Gimme Chocolate, so a lot has changed. Yuimetal retired in 2018 and Momometal joined in 2023 (she's the one doing the dance in the middle of Metali). The girls are in their mid 20's now and they're a lot more experienced and polished in their performance. Metali is a portmanteau of "metal" and "matsuri", so it's a song about a metal festival. The song is meant to evoke the feel of a traditional Japanese festival. The musicians are the Kami Band (God/Spirit band). They're technically session musicians, but it's usually the same guys. The band are Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass, and Anthony Barone on drums. Love the Tenchu shout-out. 😍
Yes! My wife and I saw them in Houston and Dallas back to back last year and holy cow! Their stage presence is something you can actually feel, theyre truly a marvel! In Dallas we were very close to the stage and the amount of personal crowd interaction they did was just so wild and fun! They've definitely come a long way, probably the best live act I've ever seen, and they're still releasing new stuff and touring! It feels like they're just getting started and what blows my mind is it feels like they have even MORE relentless energy than they did when they were kids! So awesome!

When they toured here in the USA last year and they played this song, after everyone gets low and Momoko growls "Are you ready?"... EVERYONE jumps up and literally goes NUTS! Houston was the first city on the USA tour and they went bonkers! It was glorious to see and they represented the American BABYMETAL fanbase really well! Every city after that followed suit since fancams were being uploaded fast and we all got to see how each city went crazy for BABYMETAL. 🤘🦊🤘

Babymetal and BMTH have a song together as well, Kingslayer. Babymetal even had a lot more songs in the Gimme Choco era, actually Megitsune was a song from that time with a similar traditional elements, this new song feel like a sort of tribute because it's released 10 years after Megitsune and the MV was done by the same director. That were some of the problems in NY. Some females guests would have needed to sit in the laps of strangers and some older fans might get down but how and where should they ever get up. Moa and Momo really had to coax Su back "Everything is fine we are all only waiting for You!" Then the callout was switched from sit down to get low.

That were some of the problems in NY. Some females guests would have needed to sit in the laps of strangers and some older fans might get down but how and where should they ever get up. Moa and Momo really had to coax Su back "Everything is fine we are all only waiting for You!" Then the callout was switched from sit down to get low.
