I think it’s a pretty good idea tbh, if you don’t want a Diesel get a RS6. They was pretty much the same cars until now. They don’t make a lots of sporty diesel cars so i think it’s good like that. Plus it got a lot of torques and the fuel economy is very good too.
There's actually is a explanation to the fake exhaust pipes. The head of design, Marc Lichte, met up with a swedish motor journalist (925 Motor) and said that he was given the task to design the new S6 and S7. It was supposed to be a V6/V8 petrol so Lichte designed it to be a petrol car which explains the four exhaust pipes. However, the engineers of Audi decided that it was going to be a diesel for the European market instead of a petrol version. Lichte was already done with the design when this happened and the design of the car was in "design stop" which means that you can't change the design after that.
The car was in the hands of the engineers by then who tried having 2 real exhausts and 2 fakes. However, when testing the car in winter conditions, half of it got covered in snow and the other half didn't because of the heat from the exhaust. The engineers then had the thought of having 4 real exhaust but that wasn't psychically possible since the Adblue tank was in the way for the other 2 exhaust pipes.
It was simply a communication error between the departments

This is not a S6. Remember the times when the S6 had the Lamborghini V10 in it with 450hp? This is NOT a successor to that. This is a mere S6D or SD6 but NOT a S6. Period.

@@tsaki_titan It might be annoying (it is) but emmisions are a *real* problem. Switching to EV's won't solve much but it's a good start. Also, ICE cars will still be around, only daily cars will be affected.

@@TheMimmi58 an Audi S6 with the v8 tri TDI would be around 65% Front and 35% rear. Have you ever driven a car with that horrible weight Balance? Even 60 to 40 is shitty to Drive though Corners. Plus Everything have to be much Stronger due to the massive power(drivetrain, gearbox, clutch etc) In that Case the car would get more heavy. Thats why even Mercedes sorted out the massiv v8 Diesel in there e420 w211 diesel(1980kg). The e320cdi weighs just 1740kg. The s6 with a huge and heavy v8 tdi would be a Dead Horse right from the beginning.
Everybody’s hating about the 3.0TDI. In times of the SQ5 Nobodys even thinking about hating it. Same as the SQ7 or the BMW M550D. It isn’t a slow car, so why not? People must calm down 🤦🏼♂️

I heard it drives well. Would have accepted it as a A6 TDI Competition, but coming from a 450 HP 4.0l V8 and a V10 before that, this is ridiculous.

I just love the metallic grey & silver alloy wheel combination on this S6 Avant - best looking estate car around, bar none! Not so hot on the fake exhausts or the "synthesized" sounds in the cabin. I wish all manufacturers would give their owners the option of turning off that stupid synthesized sound, even when in Sport or Sport+ mode - how difficult can that be???
Yes, at the beginning when he started in Comfort Mode the Car sounded better, more natural like my A6 3.0 TDI. But then in the Dynamic Mode it sounds like shit, like in a Video game from 1995.
Next Audi S will be 1.5L turbo-supercharged overcharged hybrid engine with 500hp that will last no longer than 50000km and will sound like a diesel scooter.
They surely must start their research on 1.5L "sporty" "ecological" "effective" engines.
The next invention will be exhaust pipe that directly comes back into your cabin to make sure you produce zero CO2 into surrounding environment.
Yeah their idea of being green is making crap cars with toxic batteries that have to be scrapped after 3 years, so eco, it's way greener to drive 1998 audi a8 than to buy any new earth saving car.

You should go to a local Audi dealer and test-drive it. I have driven one and its actually quite fun because its very agile for such a big car. The TDI engine might not be the most powerful ever, but it has all the torque and realistically 350 hp is more than enough. Also with the active rear differential and rear steering the back does rotate very nicely through tight corners if you give it some gas. I'd say overall the new A6 is probably the best handling car in its class.
Man, people dont underestimate that diesel engine and its performance speaks for itself. BUT if you talking about PERFORMANCE Variant of a high-end luxury car, you don't put a tractorish sounding diesel engine to get those performance figures.

You don't understand that it is S series, not your ordinary Audi. It's not about "more than enough", it's about performance and sport.
Even Volvo s60 with T6 engine will outrun this i'm not even talking about tuned version.
I drove it and i need to Say It is the Perfect Daily, it got enouth Power so you have fun Driving and Understeer is okay for a 2ton Car.
Is it a Realy good Car: Yes.
Shoud this be a S6 : No, it shoud be a A6 Competition like the C7 Competition.

Of course, it´s very practical and fast, but the first three generations of the S6 all had V8 and V10 petrol engines. The new one only has a V6 diesel engine and I am not a fan of diesel engines. The exhausts are very outrageous, too, because there are far too big blends at the back and they are completely closed (much too obvious, too). If you look behind the rear bumper, you can see simple exhaust pipes like in a "normal" car. But this is what similar car manufacturers also do. So, it´s my opinion about this car and you shouldn´t criticize it because everyone has an opinion about everything. ;)

@@marius-hifi5100 yhea that's 10% faster in those numbers that's quit significant... and a chipped m550d can easily reach 500 hp (0-100 in 3.9s).... BMW could give it more hp but didn't do that so that it wasn't to close to the m550i... and we both know that the engines from audi doesn't have big margins! Plus the BMW is nearly 4 years older! Even the 8 year older m550d is quicker!
Und alle, die hier schreiben, der S6 sei nun scheisse, können sich nicht einmal die Leasingraten leisten (also die Dauermietkosten). Geschweige denn, die Karre bar zu kaufen. Und daher interessiert Audi das gar nicht und hat eher die Geschäftswagenkunden im Visier. Und die fahren nunmal Diesel, ob Euch das passt oder nicht. Der alte S6 hat sich grottig verkauft, selbst dafür, dass es kein Volumenmodell ist. Audi musste die Notbremse ziehen, die können auch aufgrund des Dieselskandals nicht von Luft und Liebe leben.

The result of continuous compromising, I guess. I get that the fake exhaust and the other thing. Cuz there's no other way around. Since it's a diesel, it gotta have things like SCR which purify exhaust and due to the SCR, there's simply no room for the real exhaust. And with the "S6" badge, they needed to work on its sporty look. I can understand all the compromises that they made, but I just wanna ask one question. Why the hell did they put a diesel engine in the first place? Why not the patrol engine just like the one Americans get. I just don't get it man. I mean if it wasn't S6, I would have loved it. It's reasonably quick, has decent gas mileage and also quite practical since it's a wagon. Only if they put A6 badge with 55 TDI whatever they wanna call it, I would loved this car. But with S6 badge? Come on Audi.

This car has been short changed in the BHP department. A BMW M550i has more than 100bhp over this and weighs less
When they wanted to make a Diesel S6, why couldn't they use a 4.0 BiTDi like in the SQ7 with 435hp and give it a little more power, like 450hp or 465hp and leave the sound natural. When you have a 4.0 TDI V8, you already have a good sound. And then, with 4 real exhaust pipes in the back, it would really be a new kind of an S6, with a V8 4.0 TDI with 465hp and a great sound - and a lot of torque! But this shit is not an S6. It's a bullshit A6 with cheap fake exhaust tips! God fucking damnit!
Without launch control it's 2 seconds slower from 0 to 100 km/h than the previous gen...

Why does the S4/S5 have 347HP and the S6/7 349?
Because they have slightly different engines. S4/S5 are equiped with a turbocharger and the S6/S7 use a supercharger.
