  • We just took delivery of our brand new Tesla Model 3 LR AWD about 2 weeks ago and I have had my pre cut PPF DIY kit at home waiting for the car to deliver. Now that the Tesla is here, it is time to protect it with PPF.
    As you may already know, PPF can be extremely costly to install on your car, and add in the Tesla Tax, this can be quite expensive. With this DIY Pre Cut kit from driveprotected.shop, you can save literally thousands, more than half the price, of a professional install.
    Eric from Drive Protected Shop made the trip down to central Florida to join me in installing the kit this time, which was great for getting some pro tips along the way. When you purchase your kit from driveprotected.shop, you also get access to all of his detailed install videos, walking you through in more detail for each panel.
    After we took delivery of the Tesla Model 3, it has been parked in the garage until I had the time to install this PPF. Getting the protection on the car immediately is key to ensuring you have a smoother install and a longer lasting kit.
    Defense+ is a relatively newer PPF to the market and comes with some benefits that you should be aware of. For one, it is 8 mil thick, which is much thicker than most PPF on the market. It also has a 10 year warranty, which matches the best in the industry. It also has a hydrophobic layer on top to help repel water, much like a ceramic coat.
    With this kit, combined with code BTG (20% off), you are looking at a little north of $2,000 to completely wrap your car. Even if you do not want to wrap the entire car, you should seriously consider wrapping the front of the car as it is a large flat painted surface that is exposed to all the rocks and debris on the roads.
    Last point to note here is that this is the 4th Tesla we have had, and the 4th time I have installed PPF myself. I am by no means a professional, and there are some imperfections, but for the savings I have realized, it is totally worth it. YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF!
    Get your PPF at driveprotected.shop and use code "BTG" for 20% off!

    Nice vid, always like watching Tesla PPF videos to pick up any extra tips. A pro helping you out! No fair! How do you guys know these people? I’ve watched a lot of #DriveProtected videos. I’ve installed PPF on my 3 and recently did all 4 doors. The first door took about an hr, I think, since I was going slow, the others went a lot faster. A lot of vids don’t show the time it takes to prep the car like washing, touch up paint, clay barring, cleaning the edges, and polishing/cleaning the paint if needed. That adds on hrs extra time on top of the PPF install but makes the install go a lot smoother. I recently learned you can use heat to carefully heat and push down, not rub, the edges where the film isn’t sticking well. I tried it and it worked great. Planning on putting PPF on the rocker panels soon then the rear panels, trunk lid, and rear bumper!👍🏽

    Video is great, but really this makes it look much easier than it is. This weekend I spent 12 hours in my garage installing the front hood, 2 front fenders, A pillars, mirrors and most of the front bumper. This was by myself in my well light garage, and after wiping down the first fender, there were a lot of little bubbles. These weren't really visible on my Model Y Performance in black. Very tricky. I am getting advice from Eric at Driveprotected on how to fix this or if it's nearly a total loss.

    I have a white model 3 and I keep seeing how precuts can build up dirt after a couple years under the adhesive edges. Is this preventable? Or do I need to go with bulk because of that reason so that the edges can be wrapped? I at least wanna get 5 years out of it.

    • @BeardedTeslaGuy
      @BeardedTeslaGuy  Год назад

      Yes, it is preventable. Its all about getting the edges laid down properly. Letting the material really dry and continuing to press them down until they are fully stuck. Some people use a heat gun to cure the edges a little quicker. Just be careful with a heat gun or blow dryer.

    I went on their website. $2700 for just the materials. Plastic? That seems expensive...

      To wrap the whole car that’s a great deal. BTG20 also gets you 20% off unless you already applied the code. I did my cars in 3 stages, except for the 3. I did front 3rd, then sides, then rear 3rd to break it up

    Thanks for the very informative video. I will certainly consider buying once as I am waiting for the model y delivery. @BTG I think you mentioned in previous video that the PPF is 3M Pro, right?

    So has this channel turned into you just showing stuff to get free stuff or money or to help advertise for others? Where’s the road trips? How many vids will you make on PPF?
