    Hi, for the second and third examples, and to avoid the Pipe extending beyond the boundary, in the second example, we can use the Deconstruct Brep just like the first example. For the third example, we can use the Explode component and connect the Segments output to the Pipe.

    Thanks !

    You don't need to hold Shift to drag and copy a component. You just need Alt. Shift just locks the drag direction like when dragging an object in Rhino.

    Thanks! How would you trim the panelling boundary in case you apply it to a non rectangular surface?

    • @HowtoRhino
      @HowtoRhino  5 лет назад +1

      Well, it really depends on the type of surface it is. There are multiple ways to do it. You could use the outer edge of all those panels and project it on the surface and then trim out the rest. In some cases, you even get the outer parts as a separate list in lunchbox... Send me a particular file if you have and I'll take a look :)

    • @HowtoRhino

      Hi Hitesh, yes you could, but you'd have to create a separate grasshopper definition for that to work well.

    Hi, Thanks for sharing this video. When I create surfaces in Rhino, and apply the lunchbox paneling to them, the paneling continues on beyond the boundaries of my surface. What am I missing? If I create a very simple a planar surface, I can get the results that you show. But if I have compound curves as the face of the surface, or really any curvilinear edged surface, it extends paneling beyond edges. I have seen tutorials of people applying the lunchbox components to very complex surfaces, so I'm thinking there's something simple I'm missing.

    • @HowtoRhino
      @HowtoRhino  4 года назад

      Hi Adam,
      If you have complex surfaces, paneling tools or any other tools from Grasshopper will recognize that surface as "untrimmed" surface and it that's why you're seing these "extensions". This really depends on the mathematics behind NURBS surfaces. One tool that works better for these kind of "complex surfaces" is called Paneling tools. You might want to check that out. We will have a tutorial on that soon.

    Is there is any way to panels the mesh instead of referencing the surface?

  • @LanceGomez
    @LanceGomez 5 лет назад +2

    Why did you extend the edges and then delete the extensions?

    • @HowtoRhino
      @HowtoRhino  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Lance, good question! The reason why I am doing this is that once you create the new geometry in t-splines you get these so-called "creases" near the endpoints of a rectangle, like some kind of additional bezier vertex handles. So if I want to remove those I do this process always. Removing these "creases" make the geometry much cleaner and easier for editing. Hope that makes sense! :)

    Thank you for this tutorial, it's easy to follow even for a beginner (downloaded Rhino&Grasshopper yesterday). I need to model a surface consisting of hexagonal truncated pyramids like this object here: i.pinimg.com/564x/e6/e9/41/e6e9412f929435c47cf3d7b3fb33fdfe.jpg
    I imagine that I need to start with creating a surface with hexagons as the one on the right and then build on it to create pyramids? Would you know of a simple way to achieve this? Thanks a lot in advance. Anastasia.

    • @HowtoRhino
      @HowtoRhino  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Anastasia, you're welcome!
      So you can try playing around with Morph command in Grasshopper. I think it would be an easier method. I might do a tutorial on it in the future :)
