I think this is really good. I agree with you and the review and it can fall into the category of entry niche with something like Layton. I got a bottle after sampling and I wasn’t blown away but after wearing for a while I’ve learned I like it more as time passes.

I thoroughly enjoyed it Naxos when I sampled it. I didn’t find it to be the most interesting fragrance, but I appreciate how well it’s done. Like you, I was surprised with the amount of aromatic freshness present! Eventually I’ll pick up a full bottle, but I’ve got a long list of fragrances I’d like to try first.

I enjoyed your review and honest opinion of this hype beast fragrance.
In my opinion, this is one of the few fragrances that deserves the hype. But I am a consumer that just began his niche journey about a year ago. This fragrance gets accolades from me because it is a high quality fragrance, is enjoyed by others when I wear it, and is interesting enough to wear often without getting bored of it.
I realize that this may not be the most original scent out there but it is unique and appealing enough to me to earn a spot in my fall rotation.
And BTW it is kinda sexy too! Which is always a plus in my book.

I can tell you that compared to my 2018 bottle, the new back up bottle I just received that was produced only a few months ago is a lot different. This starts with a lot more citrus and lavender(could be that my older bottle lost its top notes over the years) and what's strikingly different is how the new batch smells much more synthetic in its sweet notes, notably vanilla. My old bottle dries down to this gorgeous, saturated smell of dark, resinous honey and almost smokey tobacco and stays like that until the next day, but the new batch kind of becomes a skin scent after 4-5 hours and dries down to nothing but a synthetic vanilla with something akin to ambroxan. I am very disappointed by my new bottle, but this perfume is known to be affected by age and maceration. But wearing side by side with my older bottle, I can most definitely tell you one-two spray from the older bottle lasts until the next day, when 4-5 sprays from the new bottle lasts around 5 hours. Huge difference in projection and longevity.

Really good to hear the thoughts! I was also late to try it, I think I got it when covid pandemic started, around that time. I was mostly hesitant to try because I hate when niche clones a designer. I am big fan of pure havane but I didn't want to try Xerjoff clone of it, but to be honest to me, this is not too similar to pure havane. Maybe it's due to my skin but I don't find it super similar other than both being sweet and honey based. On me Xerjoff Naxos has pretty good punch of both aromatic and citrus facets that last throughout whole lifetime of fragrance. I can wear this one even in summer. Considering this collection is cheaper then rest of their line I see Naxos and Renaissance as good value for money compared to other xerjoff's. I am a type of person that doesn't look at price when buying but I had to say since there is lot of much expensive stuff that is not nearly as good. Still Richwood is my favorite, Alexandria || might be second, then comes Nio and Kobe and then I can put Naxos and Renaissance

Great synopsis Marc. I own Naxos and a vintage Pure Havane. And I have to say for me Naxos doesn’t blow me away. Far too much vanilla in the mid for my liking and makes the composition waaay too smooth. However it does save itself with a wonderful pipe tobacco accord that develops in the late dry down which is great. Gonna be controversial here and say I prefer the rough around the edge approach with the Havane, and that tobacco, dirty patchouli combo; which just edges it over the line for me.

I found that, like most fragrances, you can’t really get everything you need to know about Naxos until you experience the dry down of it. That’s where the finer (and excellent) differences come in. The dry down is just scrumptious.

@@robes08This. This is what so many reviewers never do, and never mention. Maybe its not always true, but in my experience, you can never ever go by first impressions entirely. First, the juice macerates a little depending on what ingredients are used and how old it is, and sometimes just using the atomizer actually creates some air in the bottle. Second, your nose and your mood is different day to day, and i can say with all honesty that most fragrances I’ve tried that I didn’t care much for, I came back to later and had a different appreciation for. Different notes radiate, maybe I perceive it differently based on how dry my skin is, or how humid or warm outside it is, i mean, theres just too many factors to base an opinion on something as subjective as fragrance too quickly. Ive actually tried testing a perfume once, I sprayed it on myself, my brother, my mom, and my dad. It smelled slightly different on each of us, different notes were stronger on others, and we’re all part of the same family, with very similar skin, so just imagine how differently fragrances will be on different people altogether.

The top 5 on my shelf are from Xerjoff:- Naxos - 40 knots - Starlight - Renaissance and honorable mention for Tony Iommi monkey special, those are my bangers which I always count to 10 before pulling the trigger, casually I would wear the real entry level bottles which I had started with since I started my journey into niche which are mostly PDMs such as Layton- Carlisle - Percival- Haltane.... they're really easy going entry level into niche and also I can feel the difference in the quality of the scent itself between PDM and Xerjoff, where Xerjoff is more classy, more creative and they're tricky btw, 40 knots is so complex scent, most people say its aquatic or oceanic or whatever, but in reality after the blast of the opening its musky salty and every time you wear it, it performs differently and you detect something different, which is very interesting, anw that was just my opinion, thanks for the content was interesting to watch, keep it up mate, cheers!

I totally get what you said about it, it's a very safe fragrance and it smells very good, I even sprayed it today while watching your review, but really it does nothing to me, just meh, and that Fabuloso note, and trust me those cleaning products pay a fortune to select the right scent, it should be appealing to millions, so I don't say it in a disrespectful way, of course the materials used by Xerjoff might be of a better quality but... If I have to give it a score, for it would be a 4 😬You know I don't follow season rules, I wore it in the winter and also in the summer, I prefer it in the dry heat that in the cold, for the cold I reserve much darker fragrances and one or two freshies like Vanilla vibes or Loewe Paula's Ibiza 😆 Need to try others from the brand , right now If I'm going to get a Xerjoff it will be Kobe. Great Unboxing as usual, thank you Marc!!!

That's a good way to put it - entry level niche. I have a collection of over 100 XJ, Kemi, Casamorati and Naxos is one of my least favorites. The scent dna always made me think of a bad cough syrup I hated as a kid and ever since that image I haven't cared for Naxos or Pure Havane. It's one that shines most in the cooler weather and is cloying if too warm or humid. From the 1861 collection of Zefiro, Decas, Renaissance and Naxos I prefer Renaissance and Zefiro. I can see the mass appeal of Naxos and to an extent, the hype but I find it overrated personally and not one of the better scents for me.

    Two questions @robes08:
    1. which Batch code of Naxos do you have? As many other great fragrances, Naxos had to go to a reformulation due to Lilial in the original formulation. 2021 and older bottles are significantly better in my opinion
    2. what do you think about Naxos after some more testing? A test drive would be amazing 🤩

I was on board with Naxos from the get go with the lavender being the unique addition. But in subsequent wearings the scent profile started to annoy me, and I attributed that to the amped up lavender. With the sweet honey it makes it extremely cloying to me. So much so that as my finger was poised over the "Buy" button for Naxos I deviated at the last second to the More Than Words "Buy" button and clicked. Lavender does not need to be in that composition. And lavender is my favorite note!

While it has some resemblance to PH, I wouldn’t say they are that close. Naxos has freshness (bergamot and lavender), smoother base (amber vs A*men vanilla-patchouli combo). Honey-tobacco accord is really the only thing they have in common. Pure Havane falls back to A*men drydowb while this is going light amber. Very versatile (PH isn’t). This is 10/10 for me and PH never was, even on a designer level…

I tried to approach it as a “no that much tobacco” fragrance and still just couldn’t do it. The opening was really nice, but the dry down just didn’t do it for me. The honey smells like you were messing with honey and didn’t wash your hands and just let the honey dry. It smells sticky, if that makes sense. It's lighter than I'd expect out of the genre, and something in the base feels cheap to me. I'm pretty sure it's the lavender + other floral notes that are clashing with the honey/tobacco.
