  • In this episode we build and erect our timber wall frames and trusses. The wall frames were cut by hand from stick timber, and our roof trusses were built off site and delivered for installation. For more visit - renovationjunk... and follow along socially below -

    Awesome Project and great way to brief everything briefly but clearly to the point.
    Being a beginner, I would have loved if you explain all the materials you are using, including the wood etc, what grade and what kind of treatment did it have.
    I would also love to see a similar series on things to look out for when building a home, at each stage of the house.
    Keeping in mind the house inspection items checked by a house inspector.

    Awesome to see the progress of "The Dirt Road Home", can't wait to see a couple of Duraplas Tanks perched on the pad beside the house!

    There is no substitute for numbers on those bigger jobs. Take forever trying to do it yourself between jobs. Looking great.

      Thanks Michael, yes many hands makes light work (and drains the bank account 😁).

    Mate how satisfying was it to see all that planning start to take shape with the walls and trusses going up. Love the idea of the exposed ceiling 👍👍

    How come you guys don't use plywood/osb sheating on walls and roof? You seem to be using metal straps only. Any reason you using one over the other for bracing? Doing my apprenticeship and just want to know. Cheers.

    How will you finish the exterior? With a weather board and then rendered or with some sort of insulation block and then rendered?

    • @OurBuild
      @OurBuild  4 года назад

      Thanks for the question Karl, we will be using a plank weather board.
