- After loading save states hundreds of times, refining my gameplay to a tee, and being super patient with the RNG, I finally got it.
Overall a pretty solid run with amazing RNG, but 40:xx is very much on the table if someone wants to grind for it.
The biggest time loss in this run was the second spider. I only got 2 extra hits, and had I gotten the full quick kill I would argue this run was bordering sub 41. But a lot of things went right. Got the first spider, general was nice, Stingray was tolerable and Sigma was decent too.
I'm happy to put the game down for now and get back to working on videos.

@@HappyLeeHL Yea there's a few reasons why.
Apparently My Zero 100% record is also the Any% record so I don't really have any intention on grinding Any%.
My arm is also extremely tired, and I'm glad I got the record when I did. I don't know how much more SDC'ing I could have taken. The strain from running this game every day and also playing disc golf twice a week has been rough on my body
I might try X6 in the future, but I doubt I would take it as serious as I did with X4. I've always been a guy who runs something, takes it seriously for 1-3 months, then moves on to the next project kinda thing. And X6 isn't on the radar currently~

I might make new X4 TASes in the future, so it would be nice if you can share with me if somehow found a glitch that very few people know, or have new ideas for the TAS, since you know this game better than most people. Thanks. :)

I'm not sure exactly if what I optimized in this run would be better in a TAS, but for RTA i made a handful of improvements over SCWeebs run.
Iris was significantly improved, using ground slashes to reduce hitlag and ending with two ryuenjins to save time. I also found this single slash ryuenjin combo that actually seemed quite faster but had inconsistent pushback when taking damage on Iris'es mech. If you wanna see what im talking about join the X discord and theres a video in there where I posted all my Iris labbing.
I made a couple of adjustments on the mushroom miniboss, but I think in a TAS you'd go frost walrus earlier to do the EX-Tank jump, which would make my strat here irrelevant
I would try to fiddle more with boosting off of ledges in stingray. It counts as an animation cancel and I bet you could do some faster things with it.
Maybe try to kill magma dragoon from the front and take damage on him before he spits the fire out? Perhaps this could save some frames but not likely.
Not sure if the other TASses do this but, maybe experiment with skipping the mech in final weapon? This is all i really know haha

Awesome run! I'm curious what buttons do you use for SDC on ps2? I use R1 + R2. It seems a bit slow when I watch other people mash faster, any tips on how to mash faster?
I use default controls with double thumb.

This is a 100% speedrun.
You are right though if you skip the hearts the run is faster but that's a different category (Any%). Funny enough this run is faster than the any% record despite getting all the items
