Good question LJEINCHINA. Answer: Practice spotting the board first while doing forward 1 1/2 103b or c dive. If you eyes are open you always see the board. The objective is to bring the board into focus as you sommersault. The board is the easiest spot because its the same spot in all pools. 103B spot sequence: board, toes, water. 103C spot sequence (board, pike out of tuck spot toes, water) or (board, hold tuck kick out, spot water). Pike out is the best tuck is the best way.
Because of this i've had a hard time learning when to kick, and mostly been relying on the "feeling" of the dive, as in trying to feel the speed and height and kick accordingly.. This have caused me MANY back and frontsmashes esp on 205 :P
Spotting is probably my absolute worst ability as a diver. I've been diving for about 7-8 years and tried to practice spotting in loads of different ways, but i've NEVER ever remembered seeing the board nor a clear visual of the water during my 203/205 or 303/305's.
During a dive I just can't see anything, no matter how hard I try! It's not like I only see black like if I had my eyes closed, it's just going way to fast for me to register/remember seeing anything in specific afterwards.. Hope I didn't make a too long/boring comment :) (all three comments are written as one long, starting from below)
