    MACRAME BAG WITH HANDLES
    SKILL LEVEL - BEGINNER
    SIZE - 18” x 13” approx.
    MATERIALS
    - GANXXET COTTON AIR 5 MM ZERO WASTE - BLUE JEAN COLOR
    - sharp scissors
    - clipboard
    - measuring tape
    - rattan purse handles
    NOTES
    Requires knowledge of larks head knot, square knot, simple knot
    Easiest made on a flat surface using a clipboard or tape
    Pattern consists of x amount of rows of square knots
    Larks Head Knot= LHK, Square Knot= SK,
    CUT ROPE:
    24 pieces at 120”
    MACRAME BAG - MAKES 1
    -To create this bag we will begin with the front of the bag, then repeat the process on the other side to create the bag then we will attach both sides together and do a final seam at the bottom.
    1.Separate ropes into two sections 12 pieces in each
    2.Grab your handle to begin creating the front of the bag (make sure you use the front not the back of the handle)
    3.Take 12 pieces, find center of each one fold in half
    4.Attach each piece to handle using a larks head knot.
    5.Tighten and space out evenly to fill the handle halfway around
    6.Repeat process with second handle, set aside
    7.Attach handle to the surface either using tape, clipboard ot simply tie a piece of rope to create tension.
    8.Starting with the first handle start left and moving across to the right create your first row of square knots, using groupings of 4 ropes each
    9.TIP you can choose to do all “right facing square knots” you do not need to alternate sides!
    10.Your first row will have a total of 6 Square Knots
    11.Begin your 2nd row
    12.Pull first 2 pieces of rope off to the side
    13.Create square knot in open space between 2 square knots in first row
    14.Use 2 pieces of rope from 1st square knot
    15.Use 2 pieces of rope from 2nd square knot
    16.Create 1st square knot on 2nd row
    17.Continue in this pattern
    18.Second row will have a total of 5 Square Knots
    19.Begin 3rd row
    20.Use the 1st and 2nd rope this time.
    21.Create Square Knot in same pattern as above
    22.Third row will have a total of 6 Square Knots
    23.Create the 4th row, this time pull aside the first two rope to the side
    24.Continue in this pattern
    25. 4th row will have a total of 5 Square Knots
    26.Begin 5th row
    27.Use left most ropes on the left
    28.Continue in this pattern
    29.5th row will have a total of 6 Square Knots
    30.Begin 6th row
    31.Pull aside the first two ropes
    32.Continue in this pattern
    33.6th row will have a total of 5 Square Knots
    34.Pause here and repeat these steps with the other side of the bag
    35.Once completed both sides
    36.Lay next to each other
    37.Make sure your handles fronts and both facing up
    38.Use tape to attach handles to the table
    39.Create a square knot using two pieces from your front and two from the back
    40.Starting from the left leave out 4 most left pieces of rope
    41.Create your 7th row with approx 2” from the row above (this will make the knots stretch more for the bottom of our bag)
    42.This row will have a total of 10 knots
    43.Create the 8th row with 2” spacing from above row
    44. Leave to the side 6 pieces of rope
    45. 8th row will have 9 total SK’s
    46.Create 9th row
    47.Leave 8 pieces to the side
    48.Continue with this pattern
    49. 9th row will have 8 total SK’s
    50. 10th row pull 10 pieces rope aside to the left
    51. 10th row will have 7 total SK’s
    52. 11th row pull 12 pieces to the left
    53. 11th row will have 6 total SK’s
    54. 12th row pull aside 14 pieces
    55.12th row will have a 5 total SK’s
    56.Remove tape from handles on table
    57.Place the front sides together
    58.Begin to attach square knots to seam the bag
    59.Repeat the above pattern to continue to finishing the length of the bag’s side
    60.With the right sides of the bag facing each other
    61.Trim your ends approx 2” remaining
    62.Begin to connect the bottom of the bag using simple double knots
    63.Follow along the bottom of the bag connecting the front to the back
    64.Trim ends
    65.If desired you may use glue to add extra hold
    66.Finally flip bag right side out
    67.Enjoy!
