    If anyone is in any doubt as to why there is a driver shortage this video could help them to understand why.
    Limited to "only" working 15 hour spreadover per day and these devices enable the driver to work longer than that, all whilst being away from your family for days on end, sleeping where you work and eating crap food. And all for an hourly rate the same or less as paid as in an Amazon fulfilment centre.
    Then lets get onto all the fines you could easily rack up as a driver....speeding, defective truck (you might not know about it) illegal goods in transit VOSA fines......is the shortage becoming apparent yet?

      Checking your mirrors would be a careless driving error ? What the fuck ? That's what drivers are taught to do constantly.
      Can you keep us up to date with this ? Any news yet ?

    the Tachographs have done a better job of punishing legit drivers who dont take this piss by being a pain in the arse to use and understand.

    I don't know why any driver would wanna do this, isn't 9 hours driving and 15 hour shifts enough??

    • @doms6741

      Nearly wasn't for me. I went to a place early morning to drop stuff off, and had to wait there. So went for a day out. Then had to drive back at night. Took me close to 15 hours! But had only driven 4.15mins that day. If I had had to take my 45min break, I would have been over 15 hours shift. Then stuck in the cab for 9 hours, to drive a few more mins home!

      There is no 15h ahift! You mix up things. Contracts are 40h weekly. Actually you can make only 48h average in 4 months with the new mobility pack and it was not something new. it's a legislation of any workers in Europe with small differences on rights and obligations.
      15h or 13h in maximun 24h ( tachograph normative ) is a time wich drivers must take as reference to know when should stop and take the daily rest wich is a obligation by law.
      If it happens to have to wait for load or unload, pressure must be done to fix those things and not getting in trouble with legislation and even go to jail!
      ...

    • @truckingscouser
      @truckingscouser 3 года назад

      @@non-of-your-bussines 48 hours working time is based on a reference period (usually 26 weeks but can vary) not on a per week basis.
      Also, if you use a split daily rest (3 hours uninterrupted break during the shift and 8 hours daily rest) you could potentially work a 15 hour shift every day

    Romanian that will do nicely! But the fine £540 for fraud, manipulated a tacho etc etc a British driver would be straight to jail for probably 2 years what a load of tosh..

      Sort of, but really they also see it as a very lucrative business. Honest drivers who make honest mistakes will be massively penalised also. The tachograph is a CASH COW for VOSA.

    How the fuck does a tachograph measure tiredness. If driving hours is so important, then why are car and van drivers exempt. Why are professional drivers lives being put at risk by tired drivers and the police. If one was being cynical they would think the hgv driver is seen as a cash cow.
