    Great videos! I find the Beta to be one of the best in it's price range. Excellent low extension to 35Hz especially with some minor EQ to compensate for rolloff. Plenty of sensitivity to work with for weaker amps... Thank you for taking the time to share! Subscribed..

    I want to thank you for responding to my previous comments. I did find an audio store called “Deer Creek Audio” in Colorado (USA) that sales MiniDSP. For $95 per hour they will do a Zoom meeting with you and help you to setup the MiniDSP. I have done a great deal of research regarding trying to setup a system for OB using two MiniDSP (based on your project) and playing them using Roon, I do not know if you Roon but I could use your suggestions. How did you setup using two MiniDSP.? The person at “Deer Creek Audio” suggested that I use an optical connection to the two MiniDSP’s using an optical splitter. I would use some type of Roon Endpoint that has an optical out (with volume control). So far I have not found a responsible priced Roon Endpoint. Can you please share how you setup your two MiniDSP’s to your system or any suggestions you might have for me. I am sorry for bothering you again but I have been unable to find a solution for using two MiniDSP’s with Roon. Thanks so much for your consideration in helping. Greg Edwards

    Hi, great project! I'm looking forward to see a next video...
    Can you compare the MarkAudio drivers which you have used with the TB W8 in the OB configuration? Which one is better and in your opinion which one would be the best for that purpose, if you have experience with other models and brands?
    Thank you in advance

      Yes, this is something I would like to do very soon but have to cut a new baffle board for the MarkAudio driver. I've already modelled a passive crossover Its very similar to the TB 8-1808 crossing at 400hz but that's just a model in the real world it might not work.

    I’ve built a couple of open baffle designs and was going to build these. I’ve used the Alpha 15 drivers before. The specs seem very similar to the Beta 15. Would there be much difference in the low end cutoff filter? Very clear and thorough presentation.

    Hi! Look forward to the next stage of the build, I do want to build these, a fan of open baffle speakers, dream pair is the Spatial M3 Sapphires but finance!! The concern is the small living space i will be moving into and these may be too much. I wonder if I could still use the w8 1808 with x2 eminence beta 12a woofers instead, would that work, one would think a redesigned crossover? your thoughts would be appreciated...thanks.

    • @thediyaudioimplementers1826
      @thediyaudioimplementers1826 3 года назад +1

      Yes it would work and I have a 'Basta' model using the 12" Em Beta's. It looks good but I've yet to implement this design. Many use the GRS 12" which has quite a cost saving. Also consider using the MarkAudio Alpair11MS full range driver over the TB again quite a cost saving. This Pairing will be my next build video if all goes to plan. I'm putting a drawing together right now. Give it a go, you might be pleasantly surprised.

      @@thediyaudioimplementers1826 Fantastic, thanks for getting back, much appreciated, will certainly look into it, the crossover will be a concern as I have no way to measure and or build them. I do know that the crossover is the heart of the system, so good quality components need to be used eg: Mundorf or Jantzen caps and so on! let me know how you go with your build and if or when you post on you tube...thanks

      @@thediyaudioimplementers1826 Great! just had a look the Em beta 12a is between $65 to $75 each, where as the GRS 12" at $39 so both cheap really. Now the w8-1808 is at $340 compared to the Alpair 11ms at $130, big diff in cost but what about sound??? still its building to a cost. I would not compramise on the crossover, will be interested what you come up with..cheers

      Hi! Awaiting your next open baffle project. I noted b4 about using Eminence 12" drivers with the Tang band w8-1808, you noted perhaps looking at the Alpair 11ms driver which is 6.5". I have come across here in New Zealand a pair of P-Audio BM-8CXA Coaxial drivers 8 ohms for $495 a pair ( 250 gbp ) which I am thinking about buying to put use in the twin E 12" drivers instead of the other 2. Can you comment on that please. My other question regarding this is, am I better off using a full range 6.5" with the 12" drivers instead of a 8" full range driver? Thanks Alain

    Interesting! - would be interested to find if there is a more budget fullrange driver version(with associated XO). MDF pressure points; soak in thin superglue and the area will become rock hard. (wood hardener might also work?) P.S. Are you in New Forest by any chance?

      I have used the Mark Audio Alpair 11MS (£100ish) as the full range but its not as efficient as the 15"'s. So the 15"'s needs to be attenuated back a bit be it active or passive. Yes, Mopley.
