Hi, this is MSG. (Ret) Kenneth Armstrong. I spent a total of 13 years of my career in the second Brigade as a 55B. and 92 Y . My first tour was from May of 1981- 1984. When I arrived there as a young PFC from jumping school my barracks were located where yours are currently. Believe me that you guys have it much better !!! Thanks for the tour!
I was in the 82nd in the late 1980s. That place you lived in then was better than the best officers quarters I had ever seen when I was there. That place is a palace. Be grateful. When I was at 2ID at Camp Howze Korea, early 90s, the barracks there were better than what anybody ever had at Ft Bragg. I dont think I ever went as far south a Camp Humphries back then. Thanks for the great vid.
I’m so shocked to see a woman your age enjoying your life and your surroundings and you put put your life on the line!!! ❤️🙏🏻 My Dad aNd Brother trained there too!
When I was at Bragg in 83-87 my barracks were at the beginning of smoke bomb hill and they were modern then with three man rooms and a bathroom. If I had those I would have never left the military.
DAMN!! When I was at Ft. Bragg, (1970) our enlisted barracks were WW2 wooden barracks, with a 20 man open bay with stacked metal bunk beds with an open latrine & open shower at the end of the hall. The troops at Ft. Bragg now are sure getting the “Cinderella” treatment, no wonder our modern Army is so fucked up!! “ chill first sergeant, I’ll make formation as soon as I’m done polishing my nails” Sheeeeeet!! 🎖💜♠️🪖🇺🇸
1/325 was my old unit when they were down by the 82nd Airborne Division Memorial Chapel, before the new barracks. I was back there in 2016, but never got to see the barracks. Thanks.
Wow, Bragg was my first duty station in 2004 with 50th Sig Bn 35th Sig Bde, got deployed to Iraq, then after, I was sent to Camp Humphreys at the beginning of 2007 with 3-2 GSAB.
What unit are you with? What’s your MOS? Getting stationed at Bragg after AIT / Airborne school. NOT going to 82nd. Going to the sustainment brigade for Spec Ops.
I was stationed at Bragg from 92-96. These barracks did not exist then. We definitely didn't have a walk-in closet. A foot locker and a wall locker were more common. Some WW2 barracks were still being used at that time
Years ago when I was in the old coscom, our Baracks were new , like those. They are entering that. The ones back in the days. The other old barracks made the new ones stand out. We called them the Buckingham palace.
I arrived at Ft. Bragg when they had the old three story 'hammerhead' barracks, with open bays divided by wall lockers. Two bunkbeds, or four beds per section. Then too, we had vending machines selling beer for a while. Oh yeah, we also had cockroaches the size of your thumb.
Wow times have changed. We had 4 per room(only 2 in my room) community bath room a big locker and a footlocker also had a night stand. Yall have a nice apartment
WOW That's a standard Army barracks room??????? Stateside units barracks were always better then the old but somewhat modernized WW2 German Army barracks we stayed at in Germany. But the best case scenario barracks room i had was one plain desk/2 drawer night stand and a wall locker. I see in today's military many barracks have stoves and refrigerators basically i standard Apartment.Back in the 80's only base housing was like that :).I'm jealous of the Soilders in today's Army with nice barracks and GI bill benefits and way better bonus opportunities.
I'm at fort eustis, which is a small army base. We have one barracks building with a kitchen with a stove, oven ect. But then the rest of them have their own tiny separate rooms with small kitchen area, but no way to cook. Makes me sad that I'm stuck here at my first duty station for three years when other places have it so much better. I wouldn't say it's standard, but it's more like luck.
At Ft. Drum we had to share a room with another soilder. And the bathroom was split with another 2 soilders. 2 Showers a 1 Toilet. No kitchen, just a little bathroom sink.
Today soldiers have it made. Ft. Campbell I share a room the divider was our wall lockers. And walk down the hall to shower and stuff. Cool videos Penny keep rolling them out I salute you.
I was stationed at ft.bragg from 2006-2009 I'm not sure what barracks that is and I definitely do not remember my address but I was part of 525 Military intelligence brigade in the Motorpool. Our barracks was not all that lol. Things have changed so much. I was married during most of my time there though so I lived off post for most of it.
I was stationed in Germany in the 90s and our barracks were leftover from WW2 they were actually Nazi youth camp barracks and barely had any renovations and I saw AF barracks and was shocked to see E-2 have their own rooms with cable, carpets and private bathroom.
I just got orders to Fort Bragg hope I get a nice barracks room. Hoping to also get one alone but if I have one roommate that’s fine too. I just really want my own room for once.
Wow, nicer than my 2 man NCO room at FT Sill in 1990. I thought having our own bathroom was a big deal. No kitchen. Probably would've court martialed me if I had a hot plate. Did have a Mr Coffee though.
Mannn them barracks are rrrrreaaallyy nice.. yea I agree with you about Korea.. barracks there suck so bad! But stateside our barracks were pretty much just as bad.. a lil more room but that's it. Times have changed.. I was in from 06-15 so yea.. it's been a hot min
My barrack at Fort Polk is nothing like this. I sleep in a windowless room with no privacy that is basically a kitchen while my roommate sleeps in his personal room. I can't live off-post with BAH because I'm a private. It's suck and I hate it and I have to live here for like over a year.
Good luck out there. & a belated congrats on airborne. You'll learn quick that Fayetteville is uhh. Kinda trash haha I gotta be honest. on pcs leave, & I'm glad I'm gone. Gonna miss the people just not The ville. But, I do you you enjoy all NC has to offer. Again, good luck and stay blessed airborne.
So basically an apartment 😊😊 glad the Army has come a long way!! Definitely looked a lot different in the 80s!!
They just finished these barracks. They were using the WW2 barracks before that
its not like this on the infantry side
A walk-in closet?!!.. that's da life right there. I'm glad they taking care a ya. Much love. Welcome to the eastcoast !!
kioni mitchell thank you! And right lol
Your bathroom is about the size of room we have in our marine Corp barracks for two dudes lol

I lived at 7 Humphrey plaza same time you were there 👍!

I'm about to be stationed at Bragg, and I'm so glad to see that we can decorate our rooms! That was something I was missing here in AIT!
When I was at Bragg in 83-87 my barracks were at the beginning of smoke bomb hill and they were modern then with three man rooms and a bathroom. If I had those I would have never left the military.
Yeah the ones on smoke bomb haven’t changed at all lol they look nothing like this one they definitely have the best barracks I’ve seen on bragg
Should be arrested for looking that damn good 😂😂🇺🇸

Was trying to get an airborne contract and wanted to see what ft. bragg looked like since the 82nd is based there. Thank you for making this video!
I'm glad they improved soldiers' barracks at Bragg, In 2000 I was in a 3-Man room with one bathroom...
1/325 was my old unit when they were down by the 82nd Airborne Division Memorial Chapel, before the new barracks. I was back there in 2016, but never got to see the barracks. Thanks.
That's a whole lot better than I was expecting for an Army barracks.
Lap of luxury compared to the way it was decades ago!
I just came from Bragg... in Humphreys now n they sending my ass back to Bragg 😩 those barracks are nice though
Rhonda Samia I miss Humphreys 😭
Wow, Bragg was my first duty station in 2004 with 50th Sig Bn 35th Sig Bde, got deployed to Iraq, then after, I was sent to Camp Humphreys at the beginning of 2007 with 3-2 GSAB.

At Humphreys and just volunteered for Bragg with Airborne school slot.
Just glad I’ll finally be getting my own room. This CAB barrack set up isn’t it
Much better than the ones we had in the 90's.
Wow times have changed. We had 4 per room(only 2 in my room) community bath room a big locker and a footlocker also had a night stand. Yall have a nice apartment
🎶gotta find my way back🎶way back🎶😂had me singing the whole damn time

I’m also going to Ft. Jackson tmr !
BRIA good luck❤️ stay positive
Going to ft Jackson n a few weeks
BRIA did basic there. It was awful lol. Too hot and humid.
Bragg looks waaay different now. I was 3-504 '90-'95. Are those like E-6 rooms? Plus, no girls ever looked like this........lol
At Ft. Drum we had to share a room with another soilder. And the bathroom was split with another 2 soilders. 2 Showers a 1 Toilet. No kitchen, just a little bathroom sink.
Thanks for the video. Will (Hopefully) be graduating AIT soon and heading there with 4 others.
Today soldiers have it made. Ft. Campbell I share a room the divider was our wall lockers. And walk down the hall to shower and stuff. Cool videos Penny keep rolling them out I salute you.

I am PCSing to Fort Bragg from South Korea. So thank you so much for the barrack tour video!
Do you think you can tell me about 503rd MP barracks I’ll be there in September
Our barracks in Ft Hood back in 1990 was a 4 man room. 4 wall lockers and a Bathroom down the hall. Sad. Lol
Always cool watching the life of a soldier
I was stationed in Germany in the 90s and our barracks were leftover from WW2 they were actually Nazi youth camp barracks and barely had any renovations and I saw AF barracks and was shocked to see E-2 have their own rooms with cable, carpets and private bathroom.
At Hood we have NCO barracks and E4 and below is that the same at Bragg or do they mix enlisted doesn’t matter about rank?
I just got orders to Fort Bragg hope I get a nice barracks room. Hoping to also get one alone but if I have one roommate that’s fine too. I just really want my own room for once.
A lot of changes at Fort Bragg barracks. A lot better now when I was stationed there 1997-1999 at 20th Engineer and 1st COSCOM.
Wow! I was 2/504th 92-96. This is an apartment compared to what we had. You’d probability think we lived in a prison compared to this.
I’m in Bragg now and I guess the barrack rooms depend on your company because mine is literally a college dorm room 😩😂
I'll be in Bragg in 1 month. I'm coming from Humphreys as well. Do you know what the 18th Field Artillery BDE barracks look like.
I stayed in those barracks for a few months when I first got here
Are all the barracks like this on fort brag? Or for the most part?
Yes
What is it about going from Korea into Fort Bragg lmfao Camp Stanley and then Fort Bragg with 50th Signal. Crazy.
Nice digs. Thank you for your service!
I’m new to bragg, is this how all the rooms look??
I literally lived in that same exact building on the second floor back in 2018.
How are you able to bring an Xbox into your barracks just curious because I don’t wanna be bored when I join.
Your allowed to because it’s your temporary house
My son is stationed there 82nd Airborne 3rd Brigade.
Denise Canobbio may God bless him❤️
Wow, nicer than my 2 man NCO room at FT Sill in 1990. I thought having our own bathroom was a big deal. No kitchen. Probably would've court martialed me if I had a hot plate. Did have a Mr Coffee though.
Is it a lock on the door?
What’s up with the over grown weeds. Time for some barracks detail. Where’s all my privates and NCO that got in trouble? 😂

Looks better than my barracks at ft hood when I left in 07

I'm in camp pendleton the fact that you have a stove is making me regret joining the marines
Bragg can still Bragg!!! Best soilders in the world come from Bragg. De Oppresso Liber. 528th
They were building alot of these barracks when I left Ft. Bragg
I was born on this base!! Haha, but I don't know if I'll ever be stationed there since I'm Air Force.
“Yeah not that many shoes”...😆

Been there soo long ago and watching now to see what’s changed

I'm just glad I'm getting my own room
I loved Fort Bragg!!
How are the civil affairs barracks if u know anything?
Trust me guys that the only building in 2 brigade to have barracks like that at this moment. The other brigades don't have as nice barracks like this.
