It's about time Seattle got a new Kurt and Courtney. lol
TheWarrrenator lol
more like Nancy Sinatra and lee Hazlewood !
HAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHA
Hehe well said lol (I like the old Kurt too!)
Lol i never even made that connection.
the opening chord for over everything is still so amazing
Over Everything is one of the best crafted songs I've ever heard. Ever. Love these two!!
My faith in humanity is restored listening to this music. It's like rock died and got revived and notes like fingers pointing back through my life - from early led zep to country hills and grateful dead pixies and rock - to all sorts of normal things that sting and sooth long forgotten feelings and then grabs a wave back to now and day dreams me out into the near future with hope in my heart that if we can make music like this, listen and relate, we're going to be alright folks. We're all one integrated sentient mind.
There's plenty of good singer/songwriters out there. I just discovered these two. All is good.
I listen to this and suddenly I want to have children and raise them well
That is beautiful
Weird way of saying that you're horny as fuck.
comment of the year
alejandra lara I relate to this. It's very relaxing, comforting. The tempo chills me out & make me feel positive too.
to avoid they finish like the singers?
Gotta love the way that Courtney and Jen talk with their eyes.
It's nice to read all of the great comments, certainly deserved by all these people who create and play wonderful music that really can make you feel better. Humans can do good stuff & I'm a cynic.
Your reply deserved 500 up votes. Art and music give me hope in humanity
Great band, great song, and dig the drummer She's got it down.
Best female artist to come out of the decade
Easily
So good. That “lady drummer” Janet Weiss is arguably the best I’ve ever seen live. Total machine of passion and execution.
*drummer
do you say man drummer? just something to be careful of. But totally agree. She's awesome
Quasi is one of the most underrated bands ever for me
I normally don't pay much attention to drummers, but I couldn't help but to notice that too. She's good.
@@graciemartin4206Get Over it!🙄
Love these two. Talk about a match made in heaven.....!
You two have something really good goin on here! Keep true to yourselves and to each other and it will be magic!!
Great lyrics.. "somewhere on the sphere...around here" love these two together!
I fall in love about Courtney Barnett ♥️♥️♥️
Still such a beautiful, heartfelt album ❤
Janet Weiss doing her thaaang! Love her
thick freakness needs to drop 25 lbs.
and you need to drop that attitude, her weight has nothing to do with how much she slays on that kit

Ohhh! thought she looked familiar ! thx
Ace , simply brilliant , great drummer ..
Love Courtney & now have more appreciation for Kurt as well.
Great collaboration.
Yes they are both dorky but great together. I am 63 yrs old and have never been so enamored by a duo. Hope they play together for a long time. Their lyrics and guitar styles are the shit!
I'm 63 too and this has become my 'comfort' song :)
Correction, your 63, their lyrics and 🎸 styles are groovey/radical
Btw that was a guitar emogi
@@ktownc936 Correction it is you're not your and they meant they styles are the shit in a good way.

@@ktownc936 Nice try my man but misspelling words isn't sarcasm.
Love this video, you two are perfect together.
I like how they're just pals.
I think you and I should become "just pals" if you know what I mean 😆😆😆😆😆😆😘😘🍆
Thank you for 91.9 wfpk Kentucky radio station. They play courtney b n war on drugs. So ofcourse learned about kurt. Life like this from 2015 believe I'm going down, is my current favorite song.
Just Great!! Qué bueno!! Records des-de Barcelona ... magnífic!

I just fucking love Janet Weiss on drums on anything.
Geez, all my favorite people. So nice.

Soo cool. They should do another record!!
We Love You Very Much.
I like the drummer.
drummer is RUSHIN!
jaguars must be the greatest guitars of all time they sound and look so good
Complicated, talented. honest, human and fit..!
Now, they're great. Aren't they?
ita's actually about 54 past 4. Cleveland time. Stoppin back here for one more.
Thx Kepx!!
I think they're like a modern day Patti Smith and Neil Young
Just realized Janet is on drums. PERFECT.
Was waiting for this
Oh this was so good Kurt, Courtney, and the amazing band!!!! *heart* I cannot wait to see you both at Forecastle!!!!!!! I will watch over and over along with the Malibu concert (so good!!!) and Tiny Desk is AWESOME......Thank you all for the great music!!! Lotta Sea Lice should win a Grammy along with both of you and your band(s).....
Sososososo good!
Im Here
this is my favourite collaboration since Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. That album "All the Roadrunning" is amazing.
Nice to see Jen on the last song.
she wrote and released it originally
soon @ AB brussels, looking forward dude
Fender Jaguar, Jaguar HH and Jaguar Bass. Great!
The dream for many musicians !
Not a jaguar bass
Bass vi
yeah dude i need a jaguar they seem to be the greatest guitars of all time they sound and look so good.
@@RegularDude00 I have HH Jag and I'm happy with it. ;)
Fucking eh I love these two so mutch
So sick.
Discover new music on listener-powered KEXP dot OH! ARR! GEEEEE!
I only wish that there album had sounded this good.
More than anything, this collaboration reminds me of DC Berman & S Malkmus on Silver Jews, "American Water". More that album than any other SJ album, I'd say. The loose, rambling guitars accompanying each other is similar, the vocal pairings are similar too.
Timbuk 3, not a collaboration but take a listen
Sounds like J masics and Sheryll Crow Sometimes... anyways, cooooooooooool! :)
Holy shit haksjhkjdasbdabsda never thought of it that way!
I had that thought too- Dinosaur Jr. vibes.
reminds me of old Pavement
What sort of bass is the bassist playing?
Fender Bass VI
someone knows who are the other musicians in the band?
Wow, Janet Weiss?
Yup!
noice
Sooo does kurt use a curling iron or some shit...his hair is perfect every day hmmmm 🤔
Asking for a friend 😎😎
Salty water.
They both have that singing style that's kind of like talking and singing a little off key.
Like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash.
They have potential. They sound a little rough around the edges. Instrumentally and lyrically.
I kind feel like I've just listened yo one long song.
I'm looking forward to them refining their lyrics, tightening up their instruments, and polishing their overall act.
I do like them. They have been in in my saved music list for awhile.
I *think* they can do better.
They should cover that john prine duet where they take turns putting each other down, then profess their love, and join in with "never gonna let him go".
And release it on their next album.
Funny because Seb and Amy did that one and it’s played often in my casa (and Amy’s from Australia)
now that's a weird bass
She is a lefty!
I thought i was listening to Liz Phair with Lou Reed
Sweet child o mine??
The host (Stevie) is what I imagine an older Elon Musk would look like
Definetly!
You better wise up, Janet Weiss.
Play not talk
kurt sounds like j mascis without being fucking stoned 24/7
Why do people in their 60s feel the need to always let us know their age??? -Greg... and I'm 50,.. and I can kick, punch, and kick!
Sieht denn keiner, dass der Kaiser keine Kleider an hat?
Drummer is good but damn does she look like an average mom waiting outside in the corridor to speak with the principal about her bad behaving son
It's all good, but I think my cat's namesake sounds better solo. JfromOH
All closed down now; due to technocrat facist lockdowns. Are we to have a suddenly mature Kirt and Courtney one day; what will that be like? Janice.
I like both of these artists but their live collaborations sound like ass. This just isn't good.
Why because it sounds like a computer didn't do it?
no. because he doesn't think it sounds good.
Clayton McMillan I just don't like this collaboration. First off, it sounds corny to me and secondly, I don't think they perform well together.
cmonman89 you’re dumb or deaf or both
cmonman89 corny is good
Barnett is the logical progression of insufferable Emo.
Absolutely stomach turning whining.
"let's see how many pathetic lyrics I can fit into one song".

Luis Hernandez good work :) thanks
Gracias, amigou
`Brake-fast` add thnks!!
People that post timestamps are the true heroes of this platform
Sounds amazing. KEXP sound guys always killing it...
"smooth" as Kurt said.
You gotta visit to watch the video team- bionic punk rockers strapped with super badass gear capturing it all...
agreed, sounds great even on my shit laptop!
Can we have the next Courtney Barnett / Kurt Vile album please - a Collab worth continuing!
6:35, that little voice crack makes Courtney laughed, and so do I ! I really like these guys, sweet and simple indie music.
i agree. its simple and good, and indeed i also laughed. Janet Weiss on drums, what a symbol !
I feel the Tom Petty / Stevie Nicks chemistry. Courtney Barnett is hands down the best female artist to rise this decade. For all the BS that people see at the Grammy's, this woman here can deflect smoke and mirrors with a mic and guitar in a t-shirt and jeans. On their own, they carry the torch for people to find better music.
I'd have to give that title to Weyes Blood, but Courtney is definitely up there.

What compatible duo they are!!
I just love the jangling sounds of their guitars and their vocals!
Unh!
So good. I've been a Kurt Vile fan for a while but this album turned me into a Courtney Barnett fan as well. I love her sound.
Honestly, Why all the comments about how they look - aren't we here for the music? Close your eyes if it will help you open your mind.
As a drummer myself, the whole band are amazing, but man, that lady drummer has an extremely good feel on the drums... respect! x
She's called Janet Weiss. Definitely someone you want to research a bit :)
I agree really nice drumming!!
Or you could just say "that drummer" if you really feel that way.
Kurt and Courtney hit the lottery with drummers for this project and tour. Janet Weiss of Sleater-Kinney, and Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint when Janet wasn't available. Two of the best drummers in the business, without a doubt.
years and years ago I emailed her saying how much her band Quasi meant to me, and that I wished I had field studies on vinyl, she totally just sent me one for free, such a nice person.
I was excited enough to discover this but then see my favourite Janet Weiss on drums! Happy days!
Kurt Vile stuck his tongue out at me on his way to the stage at hardly strictly. I was walking on the path towards the stage and he was driven by my on a golf cart. So naturally i yelled KURT FUCKIN VILE in the silliest voice possible and he looked right at me and stuck his tongue out! we shared a great moment.
that's cute af
i genuinely appreciated that you added 'af' to that.
Damnit, I haven't missed a Hardly Strictly for five years except for this past one. Evidently that was a mistake.
i have gone the last 7 years, first time catching Kurt Vile there. i know he has returned a few times, Courtney's first time. Kurt said it is his favorite festival to play at. this last year was a lot of fun. catching Henry Rollins spoken word set was the highlight for me.
Sounds like magic
Best duo since Johnny Cash and June Carter!!
Joan Baez and Bob dylan were also pretty nice
June Carter was trash
Gram Parson and Emmy Lou the Fallen Angel is my fav
Fear Is Like a Forest is an immense song, reminds me of the darkness of Jason Molina's Songs:Ohio
Such a perfect blend!! Kurt was so courageous for asking and Courtney equally so for accepting!! Lovin the sweat scent of fryin fish right now!!! :b
badass drummer!
discovered the two of them in October, and so happy to actually see something up-to-date of them! absolutely LOVE this duo!
Really nice to hear of how they got things together and made such a great album. They create magic together, and these performances are no exception. Simply wonderful. Thank You.
That drummer ... 😍😍😍
She is such a pro
what a spectacular duo! I love them both ...and together, magical.
