I made something like this years ago, mine had been just like yours as far as the barrel part, BUT, the rest of it shows that yours is more technical or fancy. I just had a metal pole in the center, and the pole went through 2 4x4 posts I had in the ground. I had the handles too, so I could turn it. My door was square, but basically the same concept. I still have my barrel, it's just not put up on the pole and in use anymore. I bought 2 commercial composters after I decided that I wanted a bigger barrel than the big 55 gal drums. But, it did work pretty good back when I did use it, I had bunny manure and the bedding, plus food scraps, so, it made compost pretty quick, the bunny urine must've sped things up, some fall leaves too. I was younger, so, I turned it often too.
Real nice vid man, great project! Well nothing lasts forever, neither will this, no biggie...will last for a while at least, good enough. I got a compost pile behind the duck house, we toss everything back there, and then I occasionally stir it around with the backhoe.
Pond Acres yeah I haven’t quite figured out the best way to do it but I think if I start everything in the tumbler and then once it get well mixed and about halfway full I’ll dump it out into the tank to just leave for a while.
Yeh I gathered that's the idea there, that's a real smart setup! It's nice that you got the bottom compartment open on the side, could stick a pitchfork in there and flip that over ever so often too. Compost is great, not just for veggies. I plant trees little trees out back when I buy them on sale at walmart, toss compost in there instead of amended soil, works awesome!
Ya that would be interesting. I actually used this for a time when I couldn’t really dedicate a place to compost but I’ve actually gotten rid of it now that I have my own place.
First time I have seen a barrel mounted atop an IBC (tote). Your invention has given me ideas, which gets a big thumbs up from me.
It was pretty much entirely my own creation as far as I know.
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Kudos to you Derek. This is why YT is so good. Many thanks.

Good project! I like the idea of having the drum able to dump right into the compost bin.
I think it’ll be pretty handy. Thank for watching.

GOOD JOB MAN!
Add a 1in drain plug or two at bottom to drain off water for compost tea to use on plants.
You should do another one but a metal drum and wit casters so it'll roll easier or even with bearings on the ends.

Nicely done! I think it’ll work great!
Thanks!
Could’ve made a huge beer fermenter instead 🍺
I could squeeze the juice out of compost and it would taste about the same to me 🤣
