- Shake & Bake Family Fun Center is a fabulous neighborhood recreation center and gathering place in Upton. Started in 1982 by the famous football player, Glenn “Shake & Bake” Doughty, it is still going strong today. This is the 5th and final part of our five-video series with the Pennsylvania Avenue Black Arts and Entertainment District. We are delighted that Lady Brion, the founder and executive director of the Black Arts District, will join us in each video as we cover an important site on or around Pennsylvania Avenue.
This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." We record short videos about different historic places all over Baltimore and post them on our Facebook page, RUclips channel, and website. For more information or to become a member of Baltimore Heritage, check out: baltimoreheritage.org/support/
Does anybody here remember this airbrush mural art shake & bake had on their walls in the lobby area during the mid 1990s? I vaguely remembered there being one there back then too...
My name is ArsenioGee I work at shake and bake for about four years I was also part of the group of skaters the got together for Freddie Gray riot we skated from The skating rink all the way up to Pennsylvania and North Avenue to bring peace to the city I will never forget that

What a great story! Love it!
Wow! Great video. I learned to skate here as a child and had plenty of fun field trips and family memories here in the early 2000’s.
