She's so beautiful! My friend's standard poodle passed away unexpectedly recently from bloat (if your breeder didn't mention it, or you're unfamiliar - the rule is no exercise 1 hr before or after eating, for medium to large dogs). Standard poodles are so smart - and such striking dogs! Enjoy her and take tons of pics. The puppy months go by so quickly!
You are so very welcome!!😊😊 And I am glad she is well! I am getting a standard poodle in February. Mama is 5 weeks pregnant right now. I am having trouble deciding between a male or female. Is there anything about having a female standard that sticks out to you? Thank you so much!
@ oh my how exciting! I personally like females more because they are a little easier to house break, are generally friendly with all dogs if socialized well, but they seem to be a little more independent. Males are usually bigger, seem to be a little more affectionate, more goofy and playful, but if you don’t neuter them you’ll have to work through those behavioral challenges that can come with having an intact male (urine marking, maybe some displays of dominance with other male dogs) So based on those reasons, I would opt to get a female or neuter my male dogs pretty early so I don’t have to work through the crazy teenage boy-dog phase. it’s totally up to what you prefer!
Thank you so much for this!!! I value your expertise! If I were to go with a male I did plan on having him fixed. But I do love the thought of easier house breaking of the female. A lot. Thank you so much again. I am going to subscribe to your channel now.
Looking forward to more episodes. My kids grew up with a black standard poodle named Bozz Scaggs. Great dog! Wonderful temperament, big personality, and very smart. She'll be a great buddy to you.
This video was so helpful!! Thank you for sharing, it’s been so hard to find first hand videos about the first few days with the puppy!! Amazing work, everything you did was perfect and by the book!❤❤
Just came across your video, we had a female standard she lived to 15 years old, “still miss her terribly” best dog we ever had, as one person mentioned already they are really prone to bloat, our dog almost died from it when she was about 11 years old but we were able to get her emergency surgery and the vet saved her luckily. One other thing to look out for is cancer of the spleen, that’s what actually caused our dog’s death but if I ever have another dog it will be a standard and from about 10 years old I will have annual ultrasounds performed. Good luck with your dog and enjoy her they are amazing dogs.
My beautiful standard poodle used to get car sick when she was a puppy but fortunately she outgrew it, now I can't get in my truck without my girl sitting in the front seat right beside me, she doesn't ride in the backseat that's where my wife has to sit LOL the neighbors think it is hilarious😅
Ok this is so crazy! My girl was born Dec 3 ❤️ she’s a standard poodle too and man our journey is like looking in a mirror except your much young and more beautiful 😉
So cute! Poodles aer the best! My aunt and Uncle have a 4 year old white standard poodle that I dogsit a lot and have grown to love as my own. Poodles are the best.
What a beautiful pup! I know this may be a little late (2 years after your post), but a vet taught me about using jellybeans or gummy bears for travel treats ...something about the corn syrup calming and sweetening a sour stomach. And if you hide a few, it gives the pup something to preoccupy whatever nerves they might have about traveling. Plus ...treats you can share with your fur baby. It has been something our dogs and I have enjoyed during car rides. Hope your life together is awesome.
How do you know what food to get her? I know you have to do research but there are so many options and I'm iffy on feeding my future dog the best stuff
It was a hard decision and I’m not a dog nutritionist at all! But I looked at this RUclips lady’s review: ruclips.net/video/Ekx6WGBFVak/видео.html and chose one from her list!
Very impressive you let your Abby stay with his poodle mom and human family for 10 weeks. That's wonderful. Good to hear! Abby in a box - hahaha - she's beautiful. Car sick. Please don't categorize anything that a 10 week old puppy does/did as an issue/submissive/temper tantrum. Abby is lonely being in the grate by herself. Poodles adore being around everything. I was up every morning at 5am with my pure miniature poodle to get him outside for pees. YAK cheese is awful. Frozen carrots for her teething gums. Why do people have vinyl, hardwood or something slick with a new puppy. Of course Abby is going to slide around.
Easier to clean up after the puppy on a slick surface. Also puppies definitely show signs of being more submissive or dominant at an early age I usually start to pay attention to those signs around 6 weeks old
@@RandySoWavvy Totally Agree That's why reputable Breeders Do Tempermant Testing Usually around 6 weeks Dogs are Just like people every one Is different ...

What an awesome idea! I wish I would have known this years ago because she got car sick for a solid year and a half!
Hi what Breeder did you get your beautiful puppy ?
Hi! I got her from a breeder in Blythe Georgia. Tuckers poodles and doodles. She is great!
Awww she is so cute!! Does she bark a lot?
Thanks! She barks sometimes but not a lot. Mostly when some unfamiliar person is around or if there is a strange noise
It has been a year. How is Abby doing?
She is doing soooo great! Thank you!
How was van camping with Abby gone?
Not sure when you are talking about but Abby was with me while van camping
Hello my beautiful 😍 sister cousin 💕
You should watch videos on crate training so the anxiety isn’t this way.

Did she bit alot
At first she didn’t bite very much. Now that she is 4 months old she is a lot more mouthy. I will post a video on how I’m dealing with her biting!
