- I've been traveling a lot lately! Here are some highlights from my trip down to New Orleans for the EssenceFestival. Yo homegurl was speaking on the Google Panel for the talk "Empowering Your Voice Through RUclips" (bit.ly/1nrTQ3E) And I'm so honored to be the exclusive photographer to Prince (photos here: bit.ly/1nrUsWZ)! His concert alone was inspiring but to work with a legend, a life changing outlook and experience. I do have a few videos coming out back to back including a Tech Haul video but I'm off to speak on another panel this morning, so I'll to upload later this evening, my summer look book, and a transformation video with Marvel!!!!

Girl, I can't describe how much I love you! I love that you don't go shopping 24/7 on your trips like so many RUclipsrs usually do. You shamelessly go out into the world and really make experiences that are there for a life time :) Thank you for your amazing transparent lifestyle!
Thank you lovely :) yeah shopping is last on the list unless someone wants me to get something or it's something I've wanted. I can't stand shopping just cause I already get a bunch of stuff just cause. And when you move as often as me, keeping it light weight is the way to go!

I'm literally in tears now that I've watched this after Prince died! This has a new meaning to it....
I love the fact that you experience the culture of every place you visit. You immerse yourself in the location and do things that the locals do. That's the best way to travel and explore new cities! Love this, Maya!!

Traveling. Eating great food. Photographing Prince. Speaking on a panel with Soledad O'Brien (HERO! Journalism/Media Arts graduate over here!). Learning and exploring new territories. Making new friends. Being in the presence of beautiful Black people. UGH. Your job is everything. What a LIFE. Of course it's not glitter and gold, but damn. That's a lot to be grateful for, especially during the times you feel down.
Maya your are honestly so inspiring just from watching your videos I can tell just how much of an amazing person that you are and I thank you for sharing yourself with the world. You inspire me on a daily basis and have been a strong positive influence on me since your first video. I hope to one day be as great as you. Love you girl

So fun! I got to see Prince in concert twice. The second time I was in the second row. It was seriously the best concert I have ever been to. Amazing!!!
I saw Prince TWICE when he came to Honolulu and I think he was The Artist Formerly Known As, lol! My friends back home on Maui have heard him perform at a random club a few times too. LOVE HIM!!! Awesome as always, Maya!!! :)

New Orleans looks beautiful! I love how bright and colorful the city is. I'm a HUGE music fan so I've gone to so many concerts that I've honestly lost count. I've been going to concerts since I was 7. :-) Some of my favorite have been The Killers, Phoenix, Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, and St. Vincent.
So proud of you Maya you are doing great things. You're so inspiring!

Seeing Maxwell at Essence is still one of the best highlights, but when Lionel Richie brought the members of The Commodores on stage I was super happy. Suggest that everyone goes to Essence at least once in a lifetime, well worth the money and experience. Plus New Orleans is just beautiful, and the food...still lip smacking.
I, too, had the pleasure of enjoying Prince's PurpleEssence on July 4th, and though I didn't have floor seats or the pleasure of being his photographer for the event (*can't you just hear my jealousy?*), his show was phenomenal!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that was well worth it!

When I heard that you was coming to my city my heart dropped! Great vid! I had the pleasure of seeing Prince about a year or 2 ago. You are definitely right.....if you see a concert see Prince! It was amazing & I had 4th row seats! Such an experience.

I LOVED NOLA! You will NOT have a bad meal when you're there. All of the staples, Mothers, Dookey Chase, ALLADAT! That is the one city I am DYING to go back to, lol.
As for conerts.. Janelle Monae puts on one helluva show. And if you just need to hear a phenomenal voice without all the bells and whistles... Jill Scott. All she needs to do is stand and you're in awe...
I went to a NSYNC concert when I was five but don't remember much. It was in Hawaii and raining. I will be seeing Beyonce and Jay-Z in Seattle at the end of July. SO EXCITED. Great blog Maya. Shameless and fabulous as always
I was sooo excited to see this! I have always been a huge Prince fan, and at the time of the Essence event I visited L.A. for the first time. Something told me to plan my trip the correct way. Fly to L.A., fly to New Orleans and go back home. You were living my dream, and that is HELLA AWESOME! :)

I really really want to see Coldplay. I caught one of their shows on HBO and Oh my!! I'm not much of a Coldplay fan n don't know much of their songs but to see the faces of the audience, u can definitely tell they were blown away!!

It was so nice meeting you at the Essence Google panel in NOLA! Like I told you your first video still inspires me and I still share it with others so they can get inspired as well! I did not make it to the Prince concert : ( sad face ...but did go on Saturday and saw Mary Blige tear up the stage! Another fav concert of the year was Beyonce I got to see the opener in Miami for the On The Run Tour! Jay + Bey Hot show!! Well u are looking fly as ever in this video thank you so much for sharing! I've been to lots of concerts, but Panic! At The Disco probably put on the best show! The best crowd I've ever been in though was when I saw Like Moths To Flames. Everyone was just going so hard and I didn't feel like I was the only one rocking out and loosing my mind!
