Very great build. I personally prefer the C version of F-35 because it has beefier landing gear and wider wingspan (also because im a fan of US Naval aviation) so… not biased at all 👀😂. But that union jack on the hatch single handedly makes me want to build the B version 😂
Just finished building this kit myself. So glad to see someone else building the same kit , mostly doesn't happen woth italeri, but yours looks way better then what i was able to achieve. Great video
Cracking build chap. Beautiful detailing reminds me of seeing my dad in the modelling room doing his own thing. He got me into modelling my self started with I believe it was an airfix Ford focus rly car wasn't as good as this, mind you I was only young 🤣. Sadly he passed away few years ago after battling cancer. I'm eager to get back into it as I have two of his models I want to build on his behalf. Both being aircraft he worked on while in the raf the tornado and the typhoon. Randomly seeing this video pop up and having a watch is giving me the urge to get building so I appreciate that and look forward to the next one.
i mostly bought this kit due to this video. and i must say, i wasnt dissapointed. very nice fuselage fit, good cockpit and the raised ram panneling made it possible to freehand the underside ram lines. so overall id say 8/10

Hey mate I’m new to model building and just got this one from the hobby store today I did not know that they can be that detailed. Nice build mate will subscribe🎉
Absolutely fantastic build. The highly exaggerated RAM is a pain on every kit of this type but you’ve made it look good. Incidentally, it’s hard to see any colour difference between the air FRAME and RAM on RAF and RN aircraft. Keep em coming and thanks again
One small thing to say on the point of realism, F35B can't VTOL with a full weapons load as it's too heavy. so the exhaust would more accuratly be at around a 40 degree angle for Short take of configuration! Fantastic build though and looks amazing!
Nice beasty Lightning!!! I really like the effort you put into the bomb bays and the cockpit. Over all a VERY excellent job. Best regards from Germany!
I have been waiting so long for this vid and now im really happy to see it. Great Work man it looks awesome 👏 👏👏 I would love to see more modern fighters in 1/72 like the eurofighter or the f22. But anyways great video.
A good modeling skill experience in and can be sold to whom is wishing to have one that they can't made it by their own that's because it should spend time for practicing in at modeling school and blow a large of coins to where is to for and it is not so easy for do it by own wants as we saw an actual fighter planes in an air base or in the movies even The 2nd man was amazing to modeling works creator in his talent great ! Thanks !
It looks a great kit! I have one that's waiting to be built.. 😉 I think overall finish though shouldn't have any mottling effect; these are new aircraft and are very carefully maintained; when you see them in action, the overall 'grey' finish just shimmers in sunlight - it has metallic flecks in the pigment (it's called 'Haveglass') and it's a very smooth almost shiny surface, but not glossy; however, in low light, it does look very dark! It's a weird colour, and there's an almost light brown hint overall to the grey - in some lighting! Looks gorgeous though! 🙂 I see them flying almost daily (F-35A) where I work on RAF Lakenheath (Suffolk, England); stunning aircraft to see in the air - so manoeuvrable and fast in those moves! I'm looking forward to starting my Italeri kit, and will be using the AK 3rd gen paints, including the 'HaveGlass' colour - with maybe a hint of light brown - to see how it works out... 🙂
Hi, I would say you did an excellent job in detailing an weathering the kit and I just bought a Tamiya kit just recently and it looks like they came out with the italeri kit in a Tamiya box, but it only has US Marine Corp markings. I also think that after examining the kit that like other model company's that made an F-35 that the service detail on the top of the spine should not be their because according to some pictures on the real plane they are not that pronounced anymore I think the reason that they are like that on all the kits is because the model Companys took it from the prototype instead of the actual fielded planes.
Hey, glad you liked it! Yeah, I'd definitely agree on all the points you mentioned there. Definitely feels like that tape on the spine isn't present on a lot of service aircraft
Nice build mate, I think this new Italeri kit may be a big seller {cost wise} and it looks fairly accurate, I am now going to look at one and build it in a "possible" {rumours lately about this} Royal Australian Navy F-35 B of VF[A} 105 Sqn "Checkmates " who last flew A-4 Skyhawks of the Carrier HMAS Melbourne
Hola! saludos! este kit se ve que esta muy detallado! buena por italeri (tiene algunos kits muy excelentes) y este F 35 B no es la excepcion...lo unico que veo es el color de la toma de admision de la turbina del lomo del fuselaje es blanco?
Fantastic build and paint job. One thing though, as an RAF F-35B it shouldn't have AIM-9X Sidewinders on the outer pylons as the RAF does not use them. Instead, it would carry ASRAAM/
@@lawrencebrewer8769 hey, my video on oil washes should hopefully cover all bases with regards to my technique and methods :) ruclips.net/video/hYHF8xKj1Ug/видео.htmlfeature=shared If you have any more questions that weren't addressed in this video then feel free to ask!
Nice to see Italeri have the ability to make a good kit. I must admit when you painted the landing gear struts, I thought you'd forgotten to weather them, with all the weathering you put on the plane it would've been a bit weird not to have. I guess you just either didn't film it or left it out as there is clearly weathering on the struts in the finished model. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks.
I feel theres a lot of variation with radar tape colours, alot of American f-35s and earlier British ones seem to be in a lighter grey but the aircraft ive seen recently seem to have radar tape that matches the colour of the rest of the aircraft, either way, excellent model, ill be attempting it soon myself
Hi thanks for your excellent video, I'm new at this hobby I've build some RG Gundams and HG painted them got some Ok results.. would you recomend me dry fitting first? as I was thinking I've never used glue to build a model before and if I forgot something there is no point of return 😂
@@jeepnypitpits dry fitting is always good! Unless you're 100% sure a part is going to fit, there's no harm ;) also, if you use a glue such as tamiya extra thin cement, you can fit the part in place without glue, and then touch the cement brush against the join between the parts and capillary action will draw the glue into place (the bonus of this is that you can hold a part in place and move it about until you're happy, and then apply the glue in situ!)
Interesting that the model has radar reflectors attached. I wonder if Italeri did it intentionally? Personally, I’d remove them because they negate the stealth factor of the F-35.
Who makes the best 1/72 f35? I'm not in to aircraft as much as I am 1/35 armor. But this kit looks awesome, I have seen the academy offering at my local shop.
I've seen the hasegawa kit being recommended by a lot of people, though I can't speak about it first hand. This kit wasn't the worst though, so you can't go too wrong by picking one up :)
Thanks so much mate! I'd say my favourite scale for aircraft is 1/48 purely because you can get a load more detail in than with smaller scales, and its not huge to the point you cant work on it properly, though I'll happily work on a lot of different scales
I’ve got this exact kit in my backlog and am relieved it was a painless build. I don’t have an air brush so will be brush painting mine. Any recommendations for paints to use? My understanding is that lacquer paints don’t brush that well?
Nice! Yeah, for brush painting I'd definitely recommend strictly sticking to acrylics, thinned down to the consistency of milk and brushed on in multiple thin coats - in terms of brand, Vallejo model colour is always good, and I've heard good things about revell aqua colour :) hope this helps 👍🏻
This model is kinda obsolete. The F-35 no longer uses the raised panel gap putty since 2017. The current (Z13) RAM coating is a uniform color with smooth panel interfaces. Unfortunately, the Italeri kit has all that done as raised features in the molding rather than as decals.
A lot of work to duplicate foot prints, hand marks and general aviation grime and grease. You'd be surprised how white the aircraft is with its doors open
Hope you enjoyed this guys! See you in the next video!
