My father, Erwin Knauper, was in the 305th Combat Engineers, 80th Division, General Patton's Third Army. His unit was called to help out with the prisoners at Ebensee when the camp was liberated. His unit provided clean water to the camp. The only way I know this is because we went through a bunch of old photos he had brought home from WW2, and there were several photos of him and his fellow unit members at the Ebensee camp. He never spoke about it. After doing research after his death, I can see why. I want to thank you so much for this video. It helps me to understand more about his journey in Europe during the war.
Thank you for sharing your father's incredible story. It is truly humbling to hear about his service and the vital role he played in helping those at Ebensee. It is incredible how much we can learn about our loved ones' experiences through old photos and research. I am glad you found this video.
The tunnels were dynamited they wanted to murder the prisoners before the a,Erica’s came they didn’t the prisoners told them they can shoot them in the barracks because they were too weak to move

My dad visited the site the day after it was liberated. He described the horrible things that he saw.
Amazing. I can't believe you travelled their by yourself. I can't imagine going alone.
