    dont have difflock but have 4x4 low i did all the trails no problems not even wheel spin its about picking lines and knowing your vehicle

    This was the first ever trail I ever tackled in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 20s and highway tyres😂. It was a tough day out. Your wheeling videos are always so informative!👍🏾

    Mr Bogaards, We should actually get together again and do this trail again once the rain started falling a little more now in December, maybe January. Then this course turns into a more challenging environment. But the same can be said for the Groenkloof 4x4 trail.

      True yes, I have done it once after it has rained. Then it is a lot more muddy (so the wash afterwards also takes longer). Will let you know when I go out again, or for other outings.

    Nice! I did this solo in my FJ on Sunday, it's definitely steeper than it looks on video!

    I attempted this trail 3 weeks ago. I should have jumped out to scope the route, now that you mentioned it 😅. Winging it was a bit scary for a newbie. Thanks for the video!

    Great video! Well done on doing that hill without a spotter. I’ve been once as part of a training course, I’m keen to again but I feel like I need to remove my front bumper before I do 😅

    This is a super cool video Bro highly informative and it just makes me want to drive from here in KZN and be like you in my 4bie, hahahah...
    Small question please, I have a stork standard Mazda bt50 3.2 4x4. Would I be fine in the trails there or do I need a few mods like bash plates and bumpers etc?

    Thanks Henk. A question please? What mods do you have on the Fortuner? Do you have after-market suspension, front locker or anything else that helps with traction or clearance? The side steps don't look standard? Do you have bash plates? I ask these questions because you succeed on some quite challenging track sections.

      Thanks for watching. Yes, I have OME suspension. Bash Plate and Rock slider. Also slightly bigger tyres. It does help in some instances yes. No additional lockers etc.

      @@4WheelingSA That's interesting. My Fortuner looks like it'll be here within a month or two, which will be an 18 month wait! I'll be using it in the nearby Victorian high country in Australia, and am looking forward to it immensely. Many of the tracks are steep with dry loose rocks, not unlike where you drive. I expect to fit a number of mods to make it more capable, hence the interest in yours. BFG KO2s are already in my shed, standard size, and I expect to get an Offroad Animal Predator front bar with Carbon winch, Kaon bash plates, Tough Dog suspension with approx 40mm lift, and some good lights for night driving. I haven't found suitable rock sliders yet. And I'm seriously considering an ARB front air locker - another Fortuner owner says they help dramatically when climbing rock steps.

      @@abstragic4216 That is a long wait. A locker will help, but it depends on what you want to do. For me I cannot justify it. In your case I will maybe move one tyre size up first. Keep it standard and then add what you need. Try to keep the wait down as well.

      @@4WheelingSA Thanks Henk. My original plan was to do exactly what you recommend and acquire things as obvious needs arise. However I am not getting any younger and my window of opportunity for off-road driving is shrinking (the 18 month wait has not helped). That said I have been driving off-road in various occupations for over 50 years. It is the vehicle modification game where I lack experience. My new approach is to do a lot of research, mainly on RUclips, and learn from the experiences of others such as yourself then decide what is probably going to help and take the plunge ASAP. The jury is still out on the front locker so will probably delay that decision until the need is more clear. We have one particular track in the high country called Billy Goats Bluff (there are many videos of it on RUclips) that I would like to master. It seems to be getting harder each year. Most Fortuner/Hilux vehicles struggle in a few places and need to winch or be winched. I believe its partly because the traction control is not quite up to the likes of the Prado, and it is disengaged when the standard rear diff lock is used. Everyone seems to agree that "twin lockers" are best. You mentioned keeping the weight down, and that is already in my thinking e.g. no roof rack, lightweight winch and front bar, bare essentials with camping equipment. I have plans to record my exploits and start a modest RUclips channel so hopefully you might get to see the results of the build one day!

      I have the Wildog K9, I have uploaded the video of the initial installation as well as a checkup at Wildog after I drove into a rock with it.
