      Thank you for the advice I will make sure to do that. Seems the biggest issue for me is going to be torquing down the gasket screw hiding behind the cam phaser teeth.

    • @AngelGarage
      @AngelGarage  4 года назад +1

      @@slowassz3385 I did too. I left that one for last. As I tightening all the ones I was able to get to I started to get a feel how much torque I was using with my hand. And I tightened that one by hand in between the teeth of the cam. I later found a long reach allen wrench with a socket I could have used with the torque wrench.If I did this you again I highly recommend to find top dead center first where all the Mark's line up. Will have to take out the tool holding the engine in place.

    just done mine..took me about a 8-9 hours start to finish..first time doing one..no i didnt have to remove the front end..just put it in gear brakes on to break harmonic pulley lose,i reuse everything even gallery bolts..bolts are not the issue..is the paper gasket..cant hold so much oil pressure..loctite helps with that..had fun doing it

  • @m3clubracer
    @m3clubracer Год назад +3

    Hey kids, put blue Loctite (shake it up) on the galley gasket screws or they will vibrate lose and the gasket will blow. This is the most common reason why they blow out. Also the water pump O-rings have a blue and tan mark on them. One is forward and one is rearward but don't remember which one goes where. He puts blue in the rear. Take care not to rub them on the impeller or you may nick one. Also, also DO NOT put anti-seize on spark plugs. Put a small dab of grease on the two small doughnut O-rings 10:39 on the top gasket cover so they will stay in during assembly. Kids on low in-lb torques DO NOT hold the head of the wrench, you will retard the torque. Let the gasket maker set up for 24 hours before starting the car. Angel, thanks for a detailed series of videos.

      Thanks for the reply. I've looked around I got 3 different numbers 13, 21, and 41 foot pounds I went with 21 just to be on the safe side but from the layout I see from nissan says 13 which I feel is to low for the upper oil pan. Guess I'll know for sure after I start her up tomorrow thanks again though.

    im about ready to do mine. 2008 g37 journey. 175k mi. what if the chain skipped some teeth? then putting it back in the same place with the marking pen marks might be the wrong timing?
    . one mechanic video showed that when you put the tensioners back on then they need oil pressure to build up right before you start the car for the first time. when car is ready to start , first pull fuse to fuel pump, then turn the motor a little, then go and pop the fuel pump fuse back in, then fully start the engine. said it prevents the chain from skipping becasue the tensioners need oil pressure to build up a little inside from the cranking of the engine before it actually starts. i dont know, have you heard that.? thanks , this was a good video. i was able to see stuff i couldnt see in the other vids. 😊
