    Found one of these out by the trash bin at work tonight. I work as a security guard for an apt complex that houses mostly fairly wealthy older people and the things they throw away are absolutely MIND BLOWING. In the 3 weeks I’ve worked here I’ve found a Blueair 411, an armoir, and a mountain bike frame that was practically brand new and only missing one tire. I even helped an older gentleman (prolly around 80 yo) load up his Uhaul and when he was done he said “whelp, it’s full. Feel free to take whatever’s left inside.”the guy left 2 40” flatscreens, an UNOPENED Xbox one X I found in the back of a storage closet, an industrial strength washer that’s prolly worth around $2700, and I think around $3000 worth of tools. Needless to say I snagged the Xbox, one of the tvs, and a few of the tools. In about a month I’ll prolly have enough stuff to throw a yard sale or smth 😂

      “Prolly” isn’t a word; it’s probably.
      But nice story and I agree with you. It’s amazing the variety of things people throw away. I found a Pure 411 just last weekend that someone left beside the dumpster. I’ve found so many things. Four different brands of air fryers, toaster ovens, vacuums, microwaves, printers, monitors, computers, TVs, hard drives, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, other air purifiers, speakers, turntables, the list goes on…

    I got two 411s, and they are quiet at low and medium, but I doubt it's moving any air outside a 2 feet radius. On high it's like a jet engine. I returned it and got the 311 instead. These small fans get loud in order to move air. If you want a quiet unit that moves lots of air, you need a unit with a bigger fan. My 211 is very quiet at medium or even high and it moves so much more air.

    Well edited video. That said,:
    1) I have 4 air purifiers in my home (Austin Air, IQAir, Aeris and Winix) and I run them 247. Having a sensor on the air purifier is NOT a good thing IMO - as that mode will provide fewer air exchanges for you in your room. You care about the quality of air going through your nose and mouth - NOT what is occurring at the air purifier location. By the time it realizes it needs to increase fan speed - your body has already ingested more contaminants than if the unit was continuously running on a higher fan speed and providing more air exchanges.
    2) If you have musty smells in a room it is because you have relative humidity over 60% and you need a dehumidifier NOT an air purifier... I've sold both type of solutions for over 15 years.
    3) People with real-world air purification industry experience do not look to Consumer Reports nor Wire Cutter as air purification testing experts.... nor as legit sources to pick the best purifiers.

      We’ve had it for 2 months now, so look for a review out in June. So far so good! It’s a pretty cool device. The question we’re trying to figure out is, how much less dusting will you actually need to do with it.

    • @blasborg
      @blasborg 2 года назад +1

      @@6MonthsLater Thanks for the heads up! Kind of need to get a new purifier nowish so I have the same question as you which is whether that dustmagnet is particularly better at removing dust than a more standard purifier would be, even one of their own like the Pure 311. (Or is the "dust" emphasis just marketing gimmick essentially)
      I have a Winix 5500-2 which is pretty awesome and reduces the surface accumulation of dust on surfaces by a lot but it's still above levels I would like. Even with two of them in the same room. So trying to see if blueair or Coway would be more effective than the Winix for this . Doesn't hurt that blue air has 20% off sale right now 👀

    Great video, went into more detail and put emphasis on 3rd party sources. Only thing is that I'm a bit worried about the electrostatic part - that necessarily creates ozone (which is poisonous) as a byproduct, and is often complained about on other Blueair products. The one thing I wanted to know here is, what level is this one creating, because on the website it claims 0.05ppb (which is insanely low), and none of the reviews I've found have smelled the ozone with the Auto, unlike the regular 411 model, so I'm curious if it even has an electrostatic component at all?

    QUESTION: I’ve had my Blueair 311 Auto for a week now and I keep it on Auto mode 24/7. The LED has never changed from blue, even when changing my bedding, running fans, burning a candle nearby, etc. The air flow from the top of the unit is constant as it should be. Is it working correctly? Just weird that it’s always indicating my air is good.

    • @6MonthsLater

      That's not that uncommon, I've seen several other owners remarking on that. You may just have good ventilation. If you put it in your kitchen when pan frying something with olive oil, my guess would be that you would then see the fan speed ramp up. - Josh

    BlueAir's marketing is misleading. Their patented HEPASilent technology (5:09) is in their high-end models and involves high-voltage electrodes at the air inlet side. The affordable Pure product line uses non-HEPA-grade filters and you won't find any documentation on their website about the performance of these filters.
    That said, non-HEPA filters are better than true HEPA for this application, since it moves more volume of air for the same amount of electricity and noise. With HEPA, the 99.97%-filtered output will be mixed with dirty air right at the purifier outlet, so the end result is actually worse than with an 85%-filtered output at a higher volume rate.

    Tsk tsk, this video is obviously a paid advertisement. Shame on you. That being said, this unit is pretty nice -- looks great, low cost of entry, performs well based on independent lab tests. Some cons -- high cost of ownership. The replacement filters are pricier than others and are every 6 months. Also, there are complaints from customers that the 411's AC adapter fails and starts making clicking or electric arcing sounds after a few years. They have a very generous warranty (I think 5 years if you register your product?) so they will replace it, but that's annoying -- if it fails fast under warranty it will obviously fail fast after the warranty has expired. I expect an air purifier to last something like 15 or 20 years, but maybe I'm just old school that way.

    Nope. Just bought one and tested using Atmotube Pro
    1. Auto detection of pollution doesn't work at all
    2. I was not able to drastically decrease VOC - something wrong with filters
    3. Moderate decreasing in PM1, PM2.5 and PM10, but not enough
    PS:
    I'm traveling and in current house very bad air - carpets, I think. I bought BlueAir 411 Auto to have a clear air in one bedroom - not huge at all, almost all the time I'm keeping door closed and just trying to have opened windows for a fresh air (helps better than this air purifier). BlueAir 411 Auto - just a scam. Very disappointed :(
    If you have any recommendations for a compact air purifier, please leave it in comments

    Was suppose to filter out cat dander but then my cat use it as a scratching post. Bad design.

    Ummm... That LED is not bright or very big, thats a pretty ridiculous downside. Just turn the device so the LED is not facing you if your so annoyed by it? This was one big commercial... Show us your filter after 6mo or something...

    The BlueAir looks very attractive, but I really don't care for the fact that everything collected would be on the very outside of the fabric prefilter.

    • @Zack-fu8sn
      @Zack-fu8sn 2 года назад +12

      The reason why that's a plus is because you don't have to take the appliance apart to clean the pre-filter. All you do is vacuum the outside and you're done.

    Dyson purifiers are way MUCH BETTER especially the sensors parts compared to Blue Air Auto ones. I have both at the moment . I think I will stick to Dysons . Unless the one I got is defective or not that sensitive to pollutants . I just got the blue air 211+ auto from Amazon yesterday, and decided to place it in my kitchen/livingroom area and it is not ramping up the fan speed while cooking, on the other hand Dyson HP09 which is located in the bedroom has detected that air quality is not ideal and started to ramp up the speed of its fan. I guess the hype about BlueAir air purifiers being better than other brands is not based on a customer experience .

      @@santino1548 I disagree, I have both in my house and Dyson is more intelligent detecting all the allergens and bad odors way much better than the other " winner" brand as in the report.

      Dyson is one of the worst performing purifiers. You can look on any other site besides Dyson and you will see the same results. They are overpriced and don't work.

      @@joshuaainsworth5440 I have to disagree, Dyson purifier can detect almost all the pollutants in my room, from a distance. I'm talking from an experience since I have both brands in my household.

    This is dangerous for parrots and pet birds and possibly other pets also. Probably even bad for humans also. I would avoid this product.

      HarHar recently made headlines for being the first person to poke and prod their air purifier out of an obsessive need to find faults, to the point that he was actually sucked into his machine. Sadly he was found unresponsive by his parakeet the next day. His birds were relocated to local fostering parents, so that’s good news!
