  • Can you drift in project cars 2 and what is it like ? In this video we take a Ferrari and BMW out in the press version of PC2 for some sideways driving at Brno Circuit. If you want to see some more drifting in Project Cars 2 check out this rather nifty video by hobbnob1 • Project CARS 2 Driftin...
    So to answer the opening question, yes you can drift in PC2 but its not easy. For me what's especially enjoyable though is drifting in the rain with the hopes that it will one day come in handy next time I have to avoid a pheasant.

    Short answer, that GamerMuscle can't drift doesn't mean you can't do it in pCARS2.
    Anekdote about that hobbnob1 guy, I've once had a race with him in the Ginetta G40 with very variable weather in pCARS1. While everyone was spinning around and crashing off because of the rain, he didn't even need to make a pit stop before it dried up again.

      Hahaha well it wasn't *that* bad, if it was anything other than the G40 I probably would have changed the slicks :)

      The truth is that you have to consume at least 10 packets of biscuits to have the HOBNOB1 skills, I have just had a cookie so i'm well on my way to being a Japanese driftooo champion.

      Drifting and extreme driving is a great tool to expose physics, Pcars was utterly terrible for drifting, like much else to do with PC2, doesnt look like its improved much.

      You can get a used g27 for under 100$ which is the best starter kit out there. It includes a shifter (the newer g29 doesn't) and it's the same hardware as the new g29.

      You really gotta try out a FFB wheel with a racing sim, it's a gaming experience unlike any other. It adds a whole nother level of immersion. It'd be like if you could play CS or Battlefield with a model of an actual gun in your hand and could run around and actually crouch down behind cover and take aim and could feel the impact of when you get shot.

    For me personally, having played Assetto for over a year now, not being able to go back to PC1's poor handling - it will be VERY interesting indeed, to see how long people (like me) will play Project Cars 2, and then more importantly, once the novelty wears off, which game between PC2 & AC will be the most played from that point on?

    A few days ago i mentioned to you (or Sim Racing Paddock, I don't remember) that I think PC2 has the best rain in any racing game.
    Now after seeing that BMW drive in the rain I have to take that back. It looks ridiculous when the almost very same salt crystal shaped raindrops reappear on your windshield every ~1.02 seconds all at once (!)

    sweet so we can go side ways in PC2 which is what i was hoping for and btw GM how the hell do you drift with paddle shifters that by it self gives you -25% drift skill XD
    maybe its better with static paddle shifters because i find it hard to shift some times while the wheel is spinning if the paddles are attached to it, but using an H shifter sure makes it easier and a hand brake as well :3

    Seriously... If you have to make setup changes to get LaFerrari sideways on the sunny weather, which is in reality a monstrous almost 1000hp 458-like drift machine then you know that something is very wrong with the physics.
    How to go sideways LFS shown years ago and then Assetto Corsa brought it to completly new level.

  • @bfddanny1987
    @bfddanny1987 6 лет назад

    Well, the weather Looks cool, and the physics have improved massively, that said, the physics in PC2 is still not right, although it is allot more drivable than pc1 which was like driving on ice, it's still clear that the developers of the game do not understand racing lines and physics, It's all well and good that you can drift on PC2, that doesn't mean the physics are accurate, you can drift on Need For speed, but we all know that's not realistic, and yes it has some rain affects big deal, the rain looks unrealistic as it hits the car, it's more like somone is throwing rain drops at the car rather than natural rain fall, I feel drive club did a far better Job with weather affects. And lets be honest, what is this video really trying to say, PC2 is better than Asseto Corsa, because it has weather affects and you can drift, well as I mentioned you can do the same thing on Need for Speed, it doesn;t make it an accruate racing sim. The Truth is, Asseto Corsa is a 100 times more accurate in everyway, the Drving physics are Incredable, The track accruacy is Laser generated and really accurate, The car models are perfect, more detailed, dispite the lack of day night cycles and weather affects, Asseto corsa is by far the most accurate realistic driving/racing sim, today, and it's a few years older than PC2, the fact that AC is Still Better even with imroved physics and graphics, says allot about Asseto Corsa, Pc2 is a really good Game and I really like Playing it, the physics are Good, and the Graphics and sounds are Good, But Asseto Corsa is still better and is The Best Racing sim today, and doesn't get the respect it deserves.

    Ummm, for drifting you want as much grip as possible. So toe in on the rear and less pressure.

    • @mdesa6699
      @mdesa6699 7 лет назад

      The whole point of drifting is to have fun with no grip, ot to have lots of it.

    • @crysis369
      @crysis369 7 лет назад

      M de Sa Errr, no. You need lots of grip in drifting. Any professional car setup will be running 0.0 rear camber, between 0.15-0.30 toe in rear. And anywhere down to 10 psi in the rear tyres.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  7 лет назад

      My understanding is that you want lots of grip with the front tires and then minimal grip with the rear tires. The idea being that you can then direct the car easily with the front and have good control and then pop the back out on the power and play with it.
      Of course real drift setups will be more nuanced and based on getting certain amounts of grip profiles and achiving varing degrees of lateral grip probably dependent on the type of track and how tight or long the corners are on a given track.
      I'm also sure different cars will have different setups to best get them to drift in a way that's easily controllable especially when it comes to cars that have tons of power vs cars that don't and then what tires happen to be being used.
      For this video I was just being quick and dirty :)

    • @crysis369
      @crysis369 7 лет назад +2

      GamerMuscleVideos I'm not getting confused what so ever. The reason a pro car runs around the 10 psi mark in the rears is dead simple. Air and rubber both heat under friction. Drifting takes this to an extreme. The best way to keep the tyres from completely overheating and losing all grip is by lowering rear tyre pressure right down.
      As for front setup, camber is defined by the front geometry. With some cars needing up to -6 camber. But for the purposes of this. Lets say you want to setup a Nissan s15 with full wisefab arms. Caster comes set to -3.5 degrees and suggested front camber is -4. Pair this with around 0.4 degrees of toe out to help with turn in and then what ever tyre pressure is appropriate for your wheel tyre size, so between about 25-30 psi.
      Naturally damping is setup much the same way a normal race car is. Though usually the dampers come with a much softer range of adjustment. Spring rates are variable but for an s15 a fairly normal set is 9kg front and 4kg rear.
      So yes, you do indeed want front grip with a skid car but, you want equal rear end grip. Drifting is much much more about a balanced setup than people tend to realise.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  7 лет назад

      That makes sense , I'll have to try lower pressure with other setup changes and see if its a bit more predictable !

    Hi GMV, I asked you a question in your VR preview.
    You mentioned supersampling in PC2 but picture clarity at the same resolution differs game to game in VR.
    Would you say picture clarity is better than AC, the same or worse with same HMD. same res.
    Thanks.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  7 лет назад +1

      PC2 in VR lets you run AA so you can get it looking quite nice a and smooth without SS but SS obviously makes things look more crisp at a cost to performance. I think you can get the same sort of clarty as you get with AC but PC2 does not run as well ( press version ) as AC. Though you have to keep in mind that PC2 is doing more advanced lighting and weather than AC so interms of what you get visualy PC2 runs as well as AC it just has to do more.
      If you have a slower PC obviously AC will run better than PC2 in the same way that LFS runs better than AC.
      For solid figures and performance / performance at different quality settings and the end visuals we will have to wait for the final version of the game. The press version I am using is 1+ months old and not fully optimised so it wont be representative of the final game in that regard.

    • @Muckylittleme
      @Muckylittleme 7 лет назад

      Thanks man. That' was a comprehensive answer.
      Screen door is an issue for me with AC but I have noticed it is more prominent in some games than others.
      It isn't just screen door though, even with SS maxed the visuals still appear fairly low res and the distance just a pixilated blur.
      I guess I will have to wait for the hardware to improve to get what for me would be desirable clarity.
      Great previews though.

    It’s nearly impossible to drift regular road cars with a controller in this game. Don’t get why they would ruin the experience as most people who buy this game are going to play with a controller!

      I play AC daily and its very easy to drift on, just like in real life. Just because something is difficult, doesnt mean its close to reality.

      Isho GT, That's my point, it's a lot too ez in Gran Turismo and Project cars 2 look the same. If you play with a wheel, AC it's a lot harder than GT and closer to the reality.

    your steering inputs are so unrealistic,is the ffb to dead to spin the wheel for you when the car kicks round,plus you can see you are not running 1;1 steering rotation,90 degs u turn the wheel,the in game wheel turn 180.
    sorry but you really should only do a can you drift video of any game after trying to master it for weeks not hours

      Drifting in real life isn't hard, if it was realistic people that both drift in real life or play the good sims should be able to drift fine in other good sims, the wheel rotation isn't the issue it's the FFB.

    Project CARS 2 does not serve to do Drifting in the third person, the
    camera is fixed from behind the car, as if it were attached to the
    car, removing the game's sense of reality, the camera does not help
    when you turn a corner in third person, in any game mode is the same,
    should make a patch to make the car look better in the third person,
    and so more adrenaline, because you can not see the front wheels when
    you turn, it is as if you drive a box of milk, or the car you can
    only see the registration, I do not like it for that, I prefer the
    grid autosport Drifting, I would like to add a new camera, which one
    can modify to put it to taste and choose what side to look in the
    curves or Drifting
    Project CARS 2 no sirve para hacer Drifting en tercera persona, la
    camara esta fija desde atras del carro, como si fuera pegada al car,
    quitandole sentido de realidad al juego, la camara no ayuda cuando
    giras en una curva en tercera persona, en cualquier modo de juego es
    lo mismo, deberian de hacer un parche para que el carro se vea mejor
    en tercera persona, y asi de mas adrenalina, por que no se ven ni las
    ruedas de adelante cuando giras, es como si se conduce una caja de
    leche, o del carro solo le puedas ver la matricula, no me agrada por
    eso, prefiero el grid autosport Drifting, quisiera que agregen una
    nueva camara, que uno pueda modificar para ponerla al gusto y elegir
    que tan de lado se vea en las curvas o el Drifting

    Project cars drift is soooo crap, totally unrealistic. Too much over steer was able to go past 1st gear, in mx5 absolute nightmare. Mucked around with setting for about 20mins still horrible. Conclusion no more drifting for me, racing feels very good and has realistic feel but drift stinks

    • @hjbom3ega

      Idk if you have drove or owned any bmw m cars but irl in 2nd or 3rd in the rain with that much throttle drifting would be a breeze lol even with MUCH wider tires than stock. My old e36 (usa) with wot in 2nd or 3rd would never need that much throttle once broken to maintain a drift in the wet..... nor would the spin be that controllable with that amt of throttle if wet .......and thts a SLOW car..... that wet performance looks like my dry performance. I could pin point time and time again when its unrealistic but i know its a game...... its just (in this build) not very realistic. I was very disappointed with pcars1. Hopefully this iteration is better but its not looking like that.

      hjbom3ega project cars 2 tire model seems kind of inconsistent, its a huge step up from project cars 1 but its still not perfect yet. Funny enough Gran turismo sport seems to drift a lot more consistent and predictable.

      Unless I'm going more mad than I already am I'm pretty sure a warmer track = more grip normally. Cloudy day = lower temperature + possibility that the track was recently damp. Though I know in some cases in reality things can be somewhat counter intuitive.
