Last time I was at the steps of the BV they had a bike wheel Gutter to help push up or use walk mode? Is it staying or will it be accessible like the other end?😊
Simples getting on the viaduct from the canal, not so the other side, my last time there was a load of steps, not ideal with a bike or not able to walk very well
I had exactly the same issue 10 days ago having got to the blocked off section I was blooming annoyed to have to take the long route round. It was also quiet when I was there so I'm thinking people are put off with there not being a through route..
I visited last year on my 1990s mtb and had such a bad day there - when I got onto the end of the viaduct it absolutely slung it down and zero cover. Coming back was a nightmare, getting stuck in overgrowth along disappearing tracks in Ilkeston. Then 7 or 8 hills back on the road, followed by getting fired at by stray golf balls from Morley Hays. I have filed this under "never again/don't bother"! The only nice section was along that canal.
The bridge over the river Erewash has been permanently closed due to imminent collapse @ 10:33
The Friends of Bennerley Viaduct site have some info about the closures, looks like it should be open again soon.

I think so, it looks like they are building a multi use path up to it just like the canal side 🙂
