PeanutButterGamer does some SERIOUS GAMING. Playing, not simulation games, but simulator games! And he plays them for WAY too long. Total playtime for the games total was: 262 hours. I'm never getting that time back. :') Finding aliens in Signal Simulator, learning how to parent in Mother Simulator, collecting plastic rubber ducks in Placid Plastic Duck Simulator, cleaning up in Powerwash Simulator (or is it Power Wash Simulator?), and building my own car FROM SCRATCH - as well as doing a lot of other things - in the most complicated and unforgiving game I've ever played: My Summer Car. I played all these games on the PC on Steam, but a lot of them are on other consoles like playstation / ps5, xbox, and the Nintendo Switch! Oh yeah, and uh... Bed Lying Simulator too. I guess. I could be playing Resident Evil 4 remake or Zelda or Mario or something, but no. I chose to do this instead.

Unironically, Placid Plastic Duck Simulator is one of my favorite games of 2022. It's so strangely relaxing and every new duck is a delight. Having no control, I've compared it before to the delight people get out of the dvd screensaver hitting the corner perfectly.
It's a great way to relax

I can't lie, the "my summer car" mention made me very happy, it's a really good showcase of Finnish summers and cottage holidays, take from that what you will... Also, the in-game currency is markka, which was used in Finland before we started using Euro, and it's value is pretty low, so that 40mk was actually way less than 40 bucks

I did hear there was an update for Powerwash Simulator that makes the "WHAT DID I NOT CLEAN" problem easier. Apparently it's a "reset dirt" button that makes anything partially cleaned all dirty again, but won't dirty up completed surfaces.
You can also select an unwashed item in the menu and it glows so you can see what you missed.
That's actually super helpful if true, I've played through the same levels in that game a couple of times and it really does boil down to where you hit some surfaces with the water first.

Was gonna bring up the fact that there is a list of all the parts to clean in your menu to figure out what you need to look for for the last few.

For whatever it worth coming from a Swede, My Summer Car seems just like the most INTENSELY Finnish experience translated into videogame format, the kind of game that makes you really feel like you ARE a Finn, that you really DO possess the melancholic swagger of a on-the-cusp-of-debilitating-alcoholism Finnish teen / youth, and for that I can only salute such a success of ludonarrativistic coherence.
Signal Simulator just frightens me. My Summer Car... _elevates_ us all.

I have no idea how you managed to stomach 140 hours of my summer car and i'm not sure whether to be impressed or terrified
I actually really like it lol.
I started playing Powerwash Simulator when I was home sick for a week from a chest infection. I was running a fever for several days and couldn't focus on replaying BotW, so I chose something chill and ultimately mindless enough that I could manage. I ended up putting about 72 hours into it in spite of spending loads of time sleeping as well.
Powerwash Sim and Viscera Cleanup Detail are my big go to's when I feel too shitty or am too stressed to put effort into an actual game.
Glad to see that more casual and relaxing type stuff kinda is more in vogue now, since I used to and still am shat on a lot for having a lot of hours in Bejeweled 3 because casual gaming etc. etc. and it's like bruh sometimes I just need to shut my anxiety riddled brain off for like an hour and do something that still occupies my ADHD while also letting me calm down and not really think.
Powerwash simulator stressed me out too much lmao

Signal Simulator is one of my favorite concepts for a game I’ve seen. Shame it’s essentially been abandoned. Voices of the Void really isn’t a good substitute since it lacks the same atmosphere that Signal Simulator had, but I’m hopeful that we’ll see the concept explored further.
I kind of love it for that. Like, it's the interesting monotony of working on everything else there, only for the creeping horror as you realize you're succeeding and powerless to stop it

My Summer Car just seems like a flawless Finland Simulator.
The opening 42 seconds, as a bed lying enjoyer, I say kudos for the realism. We don’t have enough people who know the intricacies of lake of fire in bedroom and expand hallucinations. The bed always handles too loose. My house also looks like PT. Marvelous work, I’ll take 17.

This whole video was great. Especially the "My Summer Car" bit. That game looks freaking wild.
It is classic. Of course if you can't speak any Finnish you will not understand most of the jokes. But it is pretty accurate 'summer in the Finnish countryside in the 1990's simulator'.
I have not laughed THIS MUCH in a long time. It took 260+ hours of blood, sweat, and tears (and urine?) to do it, but man. I’ll be coming back to this one when real life is kicking my butt and I need some laughter. Thank you for this.
I think this is my favorite PBG video (or at least my favorite in the last 10 years) i've watched it so many times for the My Summer Car segment alone. Between this and the vacation games video I vote for Peebs to play more random games off Steam.

Placid Plastic Duck Simulator is unironically one of my favorite games. I enjoy the vibe and aesthetic of the game so much it's almost scary how a game where you do nothing gives me so much joy.
The radio music is really relaxing to listen to. The sound of the water is always so nice and calming. The lighting is perfect. I guess I'm an easy person to please, but I just love this game so much. It warms my heart :3

There are several games featured here who are one of all time
When I heard the words "I want to be an alien hunter!" It made me remember that is how people feel the first time when they play the first X-com game then after half their squad gets turned into zombies by Chryssalids then those zombies turn into more Chryssalids or they have a run in with the Ethereals and have to deal with most the squad going crazy or turning on the others. Yeah sounds like a real good time to me!
Sim City on the SNES will always be my favorite of the sim genre.
I think the My Summer Car game would have to be the best game here, on account of being able to simulate getting drunk and stumbling through the woods pissing in wildly fluctuating directions. Being able to piss while simultaneously doing other activities is a plus.
Also, I like the sound the player character makes when dying. "AAAauuAUUGH." That's great.

Do it, it's fun! It's base price is like $25 but keep an eye as I am sure it will go on sale, I think I got the game for like half that but it's been like a year ago or something back when it was still decently in an early access kinda state and so probably was cheaper. Probably should go on sale though none-the-less for a decent price.
Viscera Cleanup Detail is a *classic* and very similar energy of decently relaxing focus on just cleaining an area.. just with considerably more gore, hahah.

From what you showed of My Summer Car, I can confidently say that it is one of the most depressing and aggravating games I have ever seen. Depressing because you play as a Finish recluse who is barely earning any money from mind-numbingly simple tasks and dying from even one simple mistake... mad props for playing it for the video, seriously.
