What a cracking find I love Haulmasters and Fleetmasters it's fantastic to see another being saved. Good recovery techniques as well. Yet another 5* video look forward to seeing progress reports on the old girl 👍👍 All the best with the restoration
Thanks David, we didn't intend dragging it out just to cut down the undergrowth, but with that tackle on site needs must, so it was a case of improvise and use what we had with us. It's not mine by the way, although we may end up doing some of the resto: Thanks for viewing.
That's the first waggon i drove when i started with Paul Archer We called her Muppet When i had her there was Bandag Tyres Stickers in the windows i think there was a Red Perspex sun visor bolted from the roof she used to pull like a train one day i broke down on M5 between Junction 1 and 2 she was knocking Bottom End and i got towed into Cummins where they rebuilt the engine i had her back for a while until i had a double drive 4000 series and Muppet got parked up at Archers Yard in Hurley and was used as a spare motor i would see her from time to time sat there going to waste facing the hedge in Hurley in a sad sorry state i didn't think i would ever see her again to be honest I'm glad she's still around and someone is bringing her back to life cant wait to see her back in her Gory !! Thanks
I’ve just subscribed to your channel and must say I’m enjoying all the old motors and the restoration you do on these old wagons. Great to watch you fellas at work in the workshop and love the industrial language
The kind of place I want to build a house and shop , or when I go to the great beyond spread my ashes there. Look forward to seeing the rebuild. Very Nice Video.
If this is at Archers Transport down by the Belfry we used to call in there when they had a cafe. Also they had a woman driver on an eight wheeler when my mum was driving lorries delivering all around that area. I think i ran into Mr Archer senior and chatted with him at Tansley near Matlock, he had brought up a tarmac machine and was getting his 9 hours off there. That must have been about ten years ago now. Fantastic memory inducing stuff you have here. Thank you.
When i was @5 i walked past a whole road of these...They were hot from a long journey. Stuff for a new housing estate near my school...I'll never forget the smell (aroma) or the look of these. would've been around '74.
That motor panels looks familiar. The same cab was also used by the dutch truck and trailer builder FTF. And their trucks used Detroit engine,s too. But only the big ones 6, 8 and 12 cilinders. In 1995 they stopped witch the truck division and go further as trailer builder.
Hope your still with us. Your name sounds like an old Mack engine called a Lanover used in the in the NR model. FTF originally used Mack engines and running gear but ran out of supplies then switched to Detroit and fuller or Allison transmissions with Omega diffs from memory.
Remember Auto Spares Bingley having a tin cab foden 6x4 with a ex MOD V8 petrol crane with a electro magnet mounted on the back and when traveling around the yard With the late GREAT Adrian driving it the magnet was resting on the single skin roof or what was left of it at 10 years old, frightening!. If that had been a LB110 cab it might have been rotten but the frame would still be intact if the truck had been upside down
I made them doors and edged and clinched them onto frames along with others, made the sleeper cab roofs, fitted the front quarter panels and fitted and hung the front grille, cant remember the dates tho,at our subcontract factory in coventry Park sheet metal. Cant understand why bottom corners of doors gone rotten maybe ground to much off or paint problem.
I have had a long association with Motor Panels cabs and have one in preservation. However, I must tell you that in service they were falling apart within five years with major corrosion problems, which was a real pitty as MP cabs were some of the most comfortable and stylish cabs fitted to Fodens. Some other MP cab videos on my channel.
great stuff , dont think I would be telling all the jokers on here were the yard is next time you go past the joint will be crawling with them LOL Industrial language hey we call that just speaking normal out here will be watching for up dates
They are all for sale Carl, That Atki is a rare machine, not many four wheeler rigid ones were built, and this one was a pole carrier for a utility company. Link- www.flickr.com/photos/35455701@N03/30281465160/in/photostream/

He-he, well spotted, I wondered who would be the first to see that. According to DVLA it was recorded as not used on the public highway for the first two years, why that would be we do not know.
A few companies used to do that Clifford Watts a well known Foden use from near Bridlington use to buy the old chassis/cab stock up and reg them when needed, made for some late reg S83's etc.
absolutely amazing british engineering, after all these years sitting in the undergrowth the old Fodens reverse beeper still works!
absolutely love your stuff you can't beat old school British lorries!

Great find! That's a lot of work but she'll look good when she's all done. Nice one.

The very same, I didn't know they had a cafe as well.
The Blonde Hair woman who worked for him was Paul Archers Brothers wife she used to drive an eight leg Tipper

They were fucking alive i tell ya!
A pure treasure trove that yard.
love it can't wait for updates as this gets underway .
Some beauty’s in that yard
Those other lovely Foden's
Looks like an interesting place to have a look around
Archer Transport.
Some of the motors in the yard have been sold on Sean, all are in a bit of a state though.
those old monster's must be restored and preserved
How have all those old trucks avoided the final scrap for so many years? What a place to have a crawl around.
The Old One’s are the best One’s, No Ad Blue, No ECU, No Dpf , Ad No Digital Tacos🤦♂️👍
I'm surprised you didn't just drive it out!! Everyone knows old Fodens never die, they just have long rests!
without a transnission.

That right mate, the cab was used by several manufacturers also including Shelvoke and Dury, Dennison, and Scammell on the Commander tank transporter.

It's in better condition than what ours is in now

Can you still get those headlights? They were bloody massive!
Massive, and useless. Second hand units can still be found.
You guys do great restoration work. What engine in S-90. Archer truck? Cummins or Gardner my guess.
Yeah, 250 small cam Cummins, Foden's own box and axles. Thanks.
Wanting one Foden flat back to transport vintage tractors
I have full faith in you and Johnny in fully restoring this. Was that an Atkinson Venturer next to the S90?
Not on my to-do list as yet, the Atki is a long wheel base Borderer or Ranger as they were unofficially named.
My dad has one.30 years ago he moved it to our spare yard just out the way for a while but unfortunately it never came back
great stuff , dont think I would be telling all the jokers on here were the yard is next time you go past the joint will be crawling with them LOL
Industrial language hey we call that just speaking normal out here
will be watching for up dates
Fair point and it did cross my mind but everything is for sale so it's a free add.
It's normal speak here as well much to my mrs's disgust. ha-ha.
Looks to be some interesting old motors in the yard. What others were in the brambles?
Not that many, just what you can see on the film, there are a few cabs in various states of disrepair mainly Foden.
SMayleification Some interesting looking motors. Wouldn't mind an old lorry for my collection one day. Just need my licence first...
I dont suppose the 4 wheeler Foden being pushed back into the space is for sale is it?
As far as I know they are all for sale, give them a ring ask for Paul (senior).
The Atkinson on the left, has she got a chance to be saved as well?
They are all for sale Carl, That Atki is a rare machine, not many four wheeler rigid ones were built, and this one was a pole carrier for a utility company.

Thank you for having informed me!
SMayleification hi, do you know if the Atkinson pole lorry is still for sale? Paul
UP is a county durham plate?
Spot on mate, supplied by CTS (Northern) Ltd to WWR Huntley Ltd of North Dock, Roker in Sunderland
How long had been in there
Don't know for sure, many years though.
What is the latest on the restoration?
This one isn't mine, but I do know that it is in a queue to be restored, a replacement cab has been acquired.
