- Mothin Ali, a 42-year-old accountant and gardening blogger, sparked outrage after celebrating his election as a Green Party councillor in Leeds by shouting "Allahu Akbar!" and declaring his win was "for the people of Gaza." The Muslim candidate, who had previously called Israel a "settler, colonial, occupier," concluded his speech in front of a Palestinian flag stating "We will not be silenced. We will raise the voice of Gaza. We will raise the voice of Palestine. Allahu Akbar!" His provocative remarks drew condemnation from the local Jewish community, with one leader writing to the Green Party that Ali's "behavior at his count" required suspension, as "your silence has now gone past the time." While Ali later apologized, saying "Allahu Akbar" is "an expression of gratitude and celebration" and that accusing him of supporting violence "suggests Islamophobia," the controversy highlighted tensions over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in British politics.

And even if there was (long ago, Syria Palestina, 100 years after Jesus was born, thanks to Augustus wanting to erase every element of Jewish life in Jerusalem from 70 CE, still didn't manage to erase the western wall) you can't take their god, their food customs, their culture customs (ex circumcision) their tragedies and their land and say that belongs to you this whole time. guy in the clip had a strong local accent, so would guess that person was born & raised in muslim family in UK. Problem with that is can't legally deport a citizen; would have more luck resurrecting treason laws or something like that. Much of the momentum behind the brexit thing was a political initiative to exile radicals, though many of the troublemakers have citizenship & so are exempt from deportation

That was me asking about that. It would be interesting to compare the Israel/Hamas conflict and the US/Taliban/Al-Qaeda. Not just the actual battles, but mainly the public reactions, protests, etc. against Israel vs US. All these protests against Israel and pro-Hamas/Gaza/Palestine seem to be MUCH more than what was seen back when the US was bombing Afghanistan.
Yeah, just ancient hatred against the Jews as in the past is returning to hunt humanity. The lies and Islamists propaganda are taken as the truth to demean Israel in support of Hamas Jihadists and Hezbollah terrorists! It's an inverted morality and students and far leftists are fuereling the hate.

Yes. Greater than all other gods worshipped at that time in that part of the world. Charging into battle they would call out, “Our god is greater (than all your gods!” It’s another way of saying, “May (our) God be with us!”
That is actually modern muslim altered Arabic. In original Arabic it would actually read "the Lah is bigger". Lah is the name of the moon god, who was in perpetual war with the sun god Nuha.

The Swedish Green Party has got a history of several Islamists within their cadre. Socialdemocrat Nalin Pekgul talked about this "phenomena" already in 2016 in the TV program Agenda.

I'm not actually an atheist, an ex-muslim or a religious person, but I was sucked into following ex-muslims during the Isis crisis.
Before this, I drank the Kool-aid and thought all religions were the same.
Their perspective really made me much more aware of certain issues related to Islam. It made me better understand why terrorism was occuring. Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali was the first ex-muslim book I read. It was very eye opening.
I kind of feel like I'm watching a weird islamic global soap opera. It's so dramatic, yet darkly comedic.
When will they give up on violence? When your ideal religious figure is a violent warlord you can't expect peace.
It makes me stand with Israel, since they are more rational, composed and empathic. They have difficult neighboors. I don't envy their difficult position and the hard decisions they had to take under pressure and duress.
I highly respect Israel. No country is perfect, but they are doing very, very well under the circumstances. It's hard to find a balance between leniency and firmness.
I don't have much faith in Palestine having the civilizational maturity to rule itself at the moment. They need to grow up, re-evaluate their moral standards and start acting with dignity.
Misusing power to torture, rape and kill the vulnerable is not noble behaviour. It can't be rewarded with trust. You can't award credibility to anyone who chooses this kind of path.

I would like to see people like this become MPs and enter parliament. Maybe then our government will wake up with the security concern. I would love for just one person to make everyone go through a security check when entering parliament so as not to appear "racist" 😂.

If you look up the 2021 census statistics for the ward where he was elected, it's 39.4% Muslim, mostly from Indian/Pakistani backgrounds. So it's entirely possible that the majority of voters in the local elections (which, depending on the area, usually have a turnout between 20% and 35%) were Muslim, and were voting in part to send a message to Labour that they weren't being sufficiently pro-Palestiine on the Gazan war (Labour haven't, for example, officially called it genocide) .
Whilst the Green Party is definitely left wing, it is also very white. So candidates like this guy are very much a rarity.
