Filian, you're supposed to cool the wax down before you apply it... or keep it where it's barely molten. Try keeping it on a temperature controlled hotplate next time - one of those cheap college ones.
Yeah, unless she was really hamming it up, I could tell it was too hot by how painful it seemed to apply. It's supposed to be very warm, but not scalding (between 105°F and 150°F, 41°C - 66°C). When it's too hot, it also makes it _way_ more painful to rip off due to the hot wax generating first-degree burns. Best idea would have been to use a wax warmer specifically made for waxing and keep it under 130°F.
