      Until about 1996-97. Yeah, it was an amazing time for sure. I was a young kid, but I went to my first shows in 1994 as an 11 year old, and it was amazing, the energy and the living in the moment of the shows. My first big concert was unfortunately bush (go ahead and boo) but still, the entire arena was bouncing around like this, and it was my first introduction to veruca salt, so it wasn’t all bad lol

    • @johnny5stacks60

      Also, no one was preoccupied with their phones, or taking selfies, they paid attention and fully absorbed the moment without distractions. The music up until about 97ish was Fantastic. About that time you had your shitty pop music and boy bands starting to take prominence and by 2000 rock music was rock mucus. Creed, korn, nickelback, etc etc. just utter garbage.

    I am entirely convinced that Helmet is the most underrated band of all time. Meantime, Betty, and Aftertaste are consecutive masterpieces and are some of the best albums of the 90s across all of music. Now, I wouldn't personally consider Helmet nu metal by any measure, but there would be no nu metal as we've come to know it without them. Those air-tight bouncing grooves of nu metal originated right here. Thank you, Helmet.

    I remember a Guitar Hero loading screen saying "a band is only as good as its drummer." Each individual person in Helmet is talented, but John Stanier really brings out the aggression in the band with his powerful playing. All the CD's with Stanier are classics.

    The lack of racial diversity in that crowd is shameful.
    This band should go play concerts for free for blacks to make amends.

    I really believe the early to mid nineties were the last great time in music. What do have now, crap I mean rap music. ("music") Whether you want to hear it or not, all crap I mean rap "music" everywhere you go.

      @janhenrikbauer  7 месяцев назад

      The way Page barks out his vocals is the opposite of rap music? No it's not.

      @@janhenrikbauer reply to comment comparing Hemet to rap "music." 1) they are playing instruments that took years to master, in rap "music" they're no instruments being played. just downloaded beats. They are singing, o.k. Helmet is not a "ballad" band like Journey or something, but he is actually singing, (sort of). And finally they're are lyrics about concepts. Granted, I'm not really sure what most of the lyrics are about, but that is what makes art great, you have to figure it out, and then you have an epiphany. In most crap, I mean rap "music" there are two themes. 1) I'm so great, look how great I am, I make a lot of money and get a lot of bitches and 2) You (everyone else). suck. That's it. Really juvenile, really low rent.

    Wow I feel super young here.. This was four years before I was born lol. I wish I could’ve been there. I’m 22 and Helmet is one of my all time favorites. Page is a genius, as are all the guys in this band. I can only hope to see them soon.
