    Thank you so much for these videos. I really appreciate the fact that I know what your content source is as well. It is very apparent that you did a great job summarizing everything.
    I don't take AP World History, but I was curious to find out about what the American History Curriculum looks like, and to just get a refresher and this was super helpful.
    I'd love to see this channel grow and maybe even get the type of animated support that channels like crash course have. Maybe you could do like a playlist with a video about every existing country's history?
    I hope this was enough to get you heart cow milked, all the best.

    Mr Heimler, I have a question. For this year’s APWH exam, is 4 paragraphs enough for the DBQ? An intro, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion? Or would we still have to write a third body paragraph?
    I’ve been trying to contact my APWH teacher but he doesn’t respond (or teach). You’re a lifesaver for APWH for me! All I’ve learned is what you’ve taught me. Thank you so much for all your help to everyone taking APWH in these chaotic times!

    • @heimlershistory
      @heimlershistory  4 года назад +14

      Well I’m glad I could help. There’s no real prescription for how many body paragraphs you should have. But with only 45 minutes to plan and to write, I would say one paragraph for introduction which would include your contextualization and your thesis. If you have two groups for your documents then you should have two body paragraphs dealing with those. And perhaps another paragraph to explain outside evidence, Although you may do that in your body paragraphs. There’s nothing that says you need a conclusion paragraph, but it’s always good to restate your thesis at the end in case you didn’t quite get it in the beginning.

    Heimler, you should really read this book called “The Lost City of the Monkey God.” It about a true story of a team of scientists who discovered the ruins of a new, lost civilian in the densest forest in the world, in Honduras. It’s a really moving book that traces back the history of mesoamerican civilizations before and after spanish arrival and the tumultuous history of Honduras with respect to being a banana republic, suffering drug cartels, and the struggles of having no uniting national identity precisely because of Honduras’s lost history. It is also a book heavily about disease because the crew is infected with leishmaniasis, a rare, incurable flesh-eating parasite. The story focuses heavily on the ramifications of epidemics and pandemics and what it means to contract a “poor” disease that has no market for a vaccine of treatment because only people in poor areas contract it. It’s a moving read and almost ties together a lot of what AP World has covered, It’s seriously amazing.

    NOTES
    Video three- Disease
    Disease commonly occurs due to poverty. Lack of financial resources correlates with poor housing conditions. Those with lower income may not be able afford clean housing just as they may not be able to afford clean water or a reliable health care system. For these reasons they are at greater risk of contracting disease that more affluent people don’t need to occupy their worries with.
    Epidemics- Spanish flu transmitted home by Spanish combat men. HIV/AIDS spread through bodily fluids became common in the 1980’s. Ebola had outbreaks though Africa and maintains a high mortality late. Covid-19 spread along trade and travel routes. Alzheimer’s and Heart Disease also began to emerge along with larger life pans.

      @miketacos9034 4 года назад

      I'd say have at least 4 body paragraphs. 1-2-1 is definitely not enough. Because there are 5 documents this year, it's less than the normal length, but you still need to include lots of information.

      I'm not sure about these diseases specificly, but Unit 9 overall (Spanish Flu, how globalization affects diseases, new technologies, etc) is still 8-10% of the exam, according to College Board. We have completed everything else, and my teacher says this (unit 9) is the last thing we're learning before review.
