Vatican II’s document on the Sacred Liturgy beautifully states that the Divine Office-a.k.a., the Liturgy of the Hours-is “truly the voice of the Bride addressed to her Bridegroom.” It is also “the very prayer which Christ Himself, together with His body, addresses to the Father.” What exactly is this prayer? Who prays it? When is it prayed? Learn more about the Church’s ceaseless prayer at this talk.

At midnight I start with my rosary and then at sunrise I begin the Liturgy of the hours. I pray all of them and then after the last night prayer I pray the fatima prayers and to my patron saint 🙏🏼 praying like this has been LIFE CHANGING for me. My whole being has been drastically transformed and I was healed from a tumor.

how to use and pray the liturgy of the hour?
Divine office helps me overcome my laziness and lack of discipline.. Still struggle though but I know the solution. It's half the problem solved

Thank You Jesus I trust in You Amen . For some reason I'd been trying to find and understand what the liturgy of the hours means lauds etc..then suddenly come across this video on the screen of my phone
officium, neuter = service (officii = "of the service"). _Scientific American_: "In the 6th-century, cockcrow constituted one of the four periods of nighttime devotion for monasteries that followed the precepts maintained by the Rule of the Master (Regula Magistri), which required psalms be said at nightfall, midnight, cockcrow, and in the morning. The period denoted by the rooster’s crow helped manage devotions in the face of seasonal changes: psalms were said prior to the cockcrow in the winter, and after the cockcrow in the summer to account for the shifting durations of darkness. Roosters also alerted those living beyond the immediate reach of religious orders to ready themselves for morning devotions with their noisy pronouncements."

How do you pray the Litergy of the hours when working?
It may be hard to pray all 7 hours depending upon your occupation and if you have kids. But the best hours to try are Midday Prayer and Compline.. try out those first, If you can fit more hours, add Lauds
Many of the mid day ones only take 10 mins or less to get through
You're not going to get the gospel in Matins NOW. Use a pre VII Matins service, since VII struck out the gospel (of all things).
