That would be great, but they'd need to stop thinking everything needs to be a 4 door first. I wanted to buy a new Ranger, but they quit making the extended cab with the 6 foot bed option I think last year, so I'll go buy something older with a usable bed that doesn't have 4 doors. My last Ranger had a 7 foot bed.

@@wildbill23c-I keep hoping Ford will get their head out of their ass and give us a manual transmission super cab . That’s the perfect one for lots of people. I DON’T like Tacoma but Fords making it had because they still refuse to offer them in their home markets . I'm from that part of the world wherein we overload this. Philippines to be exact.
In the previous gen, my top 3 heaviest hauls were:
    - 18 (yes 18) people with it
    - 500 bricks
    - 50 concrete hollow blocks + 5 cement bags
I had the pleasure to drive this current gen which belonged to my relative. It's really comfy and really can haul proper.

I have the 2024 FX4 Ranger in the same color, Hot pepper Red and I personally couldnt be happier. Its been just a great rideing vehicle, quick and responsive with the 2.3 and all That I need out of it. Iv put new BF Goodrich K0-3s on her for some light off roading and up here in upstate NY we do get the Snow and Slush pretty good and Im sure this truck will be more the capable. My criticisms are very few. One is the Sync 4a system which has its on going issues at times with booting up when it feels like it ( though this is not something that happens too often, just enough to be discouraging and the fact that Ford has been made aware of this issue for quite awhile now and seems not to want to remedy it. ) My other issue is the rear Locker no longer is activated by a physical button. You are dependant on the same sketchy screen that freezes sometimes...Other then then that, its just a fantastic truck for the asking price considering that Chevy / GMC and Especially Toyota are asking.

In 2022 and maybe 2023 could at least get RCLB in XL/XLT for the F150 and I think the 250/350 as well.
But ford marketing really cut available options on XL to force the XLT tax. It's a forced tax if you wanted a specific feature like 360 camera or 36gallon tank, you pay for the feature plus 5K+ (for 1-2k of features).
Also, if you play with the online builder, just adding the two back seats is about 7k. Trim levels are made to get more of your money for little value add. why? people just keep paying.
I bought a 2022 F150 XLT, RCLB, V8, FX4 HDPP/MaxTow, 360cam, 36gal tank for 50k. A 2024 with max tow is a lot more now and they cut the heavy payload package to force more F250+ sales.
Would not surprise me if they someday make RCLB a fleet only option.

I really like the new look of the 2024 and it looks better than the competition IMO. In fact, I will be going to the dealership later today to get the Ranger I ordered. Mine is an XLT with 2WD in velocity blue and will have the advanced tow package as well.
As for the acceleration test, I don't think most people try to see how fast a truck is when hauling a trailer. I certainly don't drive a truck that hard when towing. About the only time I would accelerate hard with a trailer is merging onto the highway where the turbo is already spooled up and ready to kick in like a jet afterburner.
I have been driving turbo-charged vehicles since the 1980's (I still have an 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z) and I am used to the turbo lag from a dig so it doesnt bother me. If you really want the turbo spooled up at a stop you have to power brake it to get a better launch. I actually like the feel of the surge of power coming on suddenly when the turbo spools up. It reminds me of being on a roller coaster when it tops the first hill.

Same goes for the Ford Maverick, that would have been a much better mini-truck if they'd left out the 4 door, and made the bed longer, more of a Ford Courier style/size. The Ranger has been in an odd place ever since they moved it up to midsized. It's not quite fuel efficient enough to buy it over an F150, but it’s not quite small enough to be considered a compact truck for a city/suburban family.
Then again, I live in Texas, where the stock F150 is small in comparison to a lot of trucks around here. Especially when looking at a 10 or 15-year-old F150.

Only miss for me is how this midsize lacks the aluminum that revolutionized the F150 and SuperDuty in terms of weight and longevity in the rust belt. Given how assembly for North America is being done on continent, I think they could even make the alu paneling a North American option first and maybe share it out as a Raptor option worldwide. I get that pricing and profits are sticky issue, but this feels like a miss.
Ford shows off their "it already has patina" look on the untreated driveline, a miss across all their pickups, something that should be Rustoleomed away, then a Krown or Woolwax.
I think the one reason this will be a different beast worldwide is that they have 3 diesel options, though it doesn't seem like they get anything different from transmission or driveline.
As a Canadian, not getting other cab options is weird. Not having 60/40 rear seat is weird. Like many, I will look forward to the 2.7 reviews.

This is what we need, normal sized trucks with decent payload and towing. You go anywhere outside of United States, Canada and Mexico (to a lesser extent, as they have more options); you'll find plenty of pickups that we don't get in the North American market. You look at the payload for the D'Max, Hilux, Mighty Max, Amarok, etc.. they average about what our 3/4 ton trucks have for payload. You can get these with high efficiency diesel engines and in regular and extended cab versions. I'd take a regular cab Ranger with a small diesel for a third of the price of a regular cab F250.

Styling is obviously a personal preference but for me, this is the best looking midsize. That one piece rear set is aa major fail in an otherwise well thought out package. A bed closer to 6 than 5 feet would be nice too.

G'day, our model levels are: XLS (base) XLT (Mid) Sport (Mid +) Wildtrack (Premium) Platinum (Top) Ranger Raptor which is kind of it's own thing. In Australia the Ranger has rear vents at the back of the center console in all models.

@@DusdaddyYes they are. Also the seats in this Lariat look like the ones in our sport model. If you search Ford Australia you will be able to see our variants. I think you'll be surprised what you see. It's like we can't get the RAM 2500 3500 models except the 6 seat version which sucks, but Hay I can't afford $130,000 Aus any way. In some instances, parts are designed to have a sacrificial layer that oxidizes first, while providing protection a mm deep or so. I think it’s called galvanization, zinc on the outside of steel/iron, where zinc is more electronegative. That’s what I’d think is happening here, considering the truck is new and all other areas looks fine.

Believe it or not, it isn't turbo lag. That noticeable lag is a side effect of having throttle by wire, and an intrusive traction control system. You can always tell as with turbo lag, the engine still revs, but you haven't built enough manifold pressure, so the torque impulse is rather jarring once it does build boost. In a lot of these modern turbocharged engines, this large torque impulse at very low rpm can cause excessive driveline damage over time, so manufacturers baby it as much as possible. You can observe that even if you give it full pedal input, your tach will barely change, and there is a full-on delay in response to even start accelerating. In ten speed Fords, you can get rid of most of this induced throttle lag by using the sport mode. Also, tow haul mode just makes the transmission up-shift through every gear sequentially, downshift early and more aggressively on declines, and hold gears longer after a decline. It isn't the fastest throttle and shift profile available, nor is it necessary on mostly flat terrain.

Loved the review - I have a Ford Ranger Wildtrack spec (second top option) here in Australia. Our 4x4 are offered as diesel only so interested to see your engine options. We have a 3L v6 diesel which is 184kw (246hp) and 600nm (442 foot pound) or a bi-turbo 2L 4 cylinder with 154 kw (206hp) 500nm (368 foot pound) both with the 10spd autos. We typically put more emphasis on payload here in Australia. The Ranger has typically has 1000kg payload (2200lb) and tow rating of 3500kg (7700lb). Interestingly mine has HVAC vents for the second row of passengers. The Ute (Truck) costs around $AUD80,000. Ford have released the F150 here with the 3.5 eco boost v6 petrol engine only in 2 trim levels and SWB or LWB options. - pricing is $AUD120-$150,000 so the Ranger is a very popular option here.

I was at first a little put off by the styling, but it's growing on me slowly. The prices of most of these are the real factor to shy away. What rear end does this have? mine has tow package which got the big rear end and better gears. still has original inner and outer tie rod ends, starter and AC compressor.

Ford themselves is the reason I hesitate to buy a 24. I have a 21 Lariat Tremor now and like it, but it has issues (trans, some sort of non-tire related vibration) and Ford stonewalled me until my warranty expired. They also lie. Full service oil change (tire rotation, all the checks, etc) and they said they rotated the tires...hard to do when it's sitting on them. EGR issues and carbon on the valves requiring replacement of EGR components and decarbonization service....didn't notify me but did brake service and charged for it. What do brakes have to do with EGR? Also, I've tried talking to several dealer about a new truck and get snubbed. Like they don't want to sell their product. I do look young, and maybe I look like I don't have money, dunno. Their loss. If they can't service my existing truck, I don't want to give them a chance to screw me on a new one. So I keep my existing.
