Cruz was set for a title defense against Faber on the July 2012 show coming off Ultimate Fighter when he tore his ACL a few weeks before the fight. Faber vs. Cruz was part of a show with Silva vs Sonnen. That show did 925,000 buys, and if you had loaded it with another title match, it would have probably topped 1 million. Cruz had a percentage, and we’re talking his cut would have been way into the seven figures, basically the kind of money that bantamweights aren’t’ going to make.

The obstacles may have been tall and jagged, insurmountable to most men, but Cruz is a special kind of person. A pleasure to watch him fight, congrats champ.
I cant help but to love this guy. I never ever counted him out. Never. The craft he perfected, is a craft that was years ahead of his time. As time passed him buy in the cage, and new champions were crowned out of that fray... (After that match he had with TJ).. one thing clearly has remained constant, and that one thing is that, people are still years behind the craft he created years ago. (beautiful job Dom).. Hope he remains champ for years to come. He just solidifies to me, what a champion should be like. Him and Demetrious. They both are just the epitome of what championship caliber fighter is.

fcng respect to Dom one of the best fighters to ever steped in that cage and to beat up and make TJ mis so many fcng shots was indded a powerfull thing to see. im my opinion he won it clear, never i have seen tj so frustaded and missing do many moves like this. congratz to Dominick i have been w8ting a long time for this and i was not disapointed. 4 years out, worst possible injururies in a row and still able to return like Thiss is indeed a great thing to see.
Love this dude. Class act. Every competitor has to think he's the man, but I always liked the way he has carried himself. He's an excellent analyst, an awesome coach on TUF and a true champion who can persevere like the best of them. Congrats to the new champ! Go kick some ass and get paid, brother! You and Frankie Edgar are my two favorite UFC fighters ever.
