I loved the "then and now" aspect you employed in this video. Very sad to see the deterioration but very pleased you gave us the opportunity to see this wonderful place.
Wow...that was......amazing. I love the before and after shots. It was almost kind of sad to see a place so full of wonderful memories now aging and decaying like that. Thanx for making this video......
Like everyone else, I think the 'then-now' concept and your presentation of it are awesome. Thank you very much, kits a beautiful property and hopefully someone will renovate it back to how it should be. Agin, well done!
I share the same sentiment as others who have posted. I can't tell you how many times I have watched an U.E. video, and wondered what the back story was, or what it must have looked like during its prime. .. Honestly, this video answered most all of my questions, giving my imagination a break, all without saying a word.. Great job on the music, editing, and most of all, matching camera angles from the original film. It also has a bit of creepiness too me, because, showing the wedding then to current state, kind of has a Titanic thing going on. Seeing those people celebrating their wedding day with what looks like family and friends, all happy..but, I know that their mansion is going to turn to piss and be abandoned in a few years.. Thanks for posting this vid. Please try to put another one together..
So beautiful and sad at the same time to see a place the once had so much life look like this. You did a great job showing us the before and after. Thank you for your video.
Gabriela, I hope the party you thought was interested in this property will purchase it and restore it to its former glory. Mathy906, thank you for the then/now presentation! You created a thoughtful, memorable video!
Stunning then and now! Very nicely done! Will continue to watch your channel! I like then and now angle. I might try to use it in one of my videos. To have been able to see this in person must have been breathtaking!
It was breathtaking, especially if you had lots of memories as a child in there and it's all gone, i used to explore the whole house and i knew it better than anyone else, but now i lost every sign of recognition where i stood, whatever there was on this place.. i was suddenly lost, and that really got me! (watch part 2 to understand).
I really like your video - especially that it doesn't make me nauseous from all the shaky movement like so many UE vids which I really want to watch but often can't for more than a few minutes.
How incredibly sad! Such a beautiful home and beautiful bride! It's a shame she and her husband couldn't save the place and raise their own children there. I can't imagine letting a place like that go to ruin.
That is magnificent! The attention to detail of the inner architecture! This is what fairytales are made of! What happened to the people who owned it? So beautifully exquisite! Thanks from Canada!
Yes, I guessed so you would have, when after a while the picture of the different peaces fell into place. Also subconsciously or consciously, the intense nostalgic and incredibly beautiful music you chose (the very first part) told the story. I have listened to it over and over again and was thinking about you, and even got tears in my eyes (well, the tears were my own), I find the music so deeply moving. I am Belgian myself and have uploaded your video on Pinterest.
@mathy906 Great Job! It's very dramatic to see before and now shots especially when you take the extra effort to line up your shots almost exactly as the before shots. I really appreciate your effort and thanks for sharing. Thumbs up.
sorry for the late reply, so, the original owners had the house always well maintained, but when it was sold to a couple, it was completely emptied to modernize, but amidst the renovations, separated the couple and the works were stopped. and this is the sad result that slowly decays with all the memories... :/
Vanacker davy no. it is located in Belgium. under the place Gent. in holland are nearly no abandoned places. in Belgium there are a lot. Maybe i have spelled something wrong sorry for that but i am dutch!
just curious where you found family footage from.ive tried to research the family on google and the castle but nothing comes up.very interested in finding out more about the family
(cont.) the Lippens family from the freezer company O'Cool (lol, cool name). They were in their 70's and wanted to go live smaller, after having owned it for 20 yrs. The house still has its authentic bathroom design from the interbellum, the 1930s. It is situated in a 35,610 m2 park and has a living space of 900 m2.
wow impressive, so far all this is correct, sadly i have to say that the beautiful bathroom is completely gone, also is the open fireplace now.. i can say i have a lot of memories there.
I can't get past the first minute,it's pretty intense, the fact that it was just so full of life at one point not to long ago, and now it's empty, there is nothingness.
I found an article in a newspaper that says the castle was for sale in 2007. Did you shoot the "now" shots in 2012, therefore it wouldn't have been sold yet (in 2012)? The castle is called castle of Hemelrijk (Heaven), in De Pinte, Belgium. The article stated that the old inhabitants of De Pinte call it the castle of Poulsen. In the 1920's Danish Hans-Christiaen Poulsen married the daughter of the Belgian industrial family De Baerdemaecker. In 2007 the owners were the industrial family Lippens..
Hi PacificSoul08, The are three music tracks in the video, i only know the first one "The Souls Ascend" From the movie "GHOST SHIP", if you haven't watch it i recommend you do, i really enjoyed that movie. I hope that helps.
thanks, i love making this kind of video's and i hope i can make more of them :) I'd like to make an upgrade of this castle because its has been 2 year's from now that i made this one, and the castle appears to be in a worse condition now.
I can't get past the first minute, it's pretty intense. The fact that it was just so full life at one point, not to long ago, and now it's empty, there is nothingness. The picture said 1990, I was born in 1994 and I'm 21 that's about 25 years ago that the picture was taken and now this place is empty, lifeless, it really capture the effects of time and how life is so short. Idk it's unreal. I'm kind of minfucked/ high hahaha they are the generation that is retiring and dying out, we are the new generation getting prepared to take over and replace them, till we get old then we are also replaced and so on... It's so weird!!
pauwels Yrald that was the first time it was for sale, then it was in perfect condition, after that it was sold twice or more going with all the useless constructions inside ..
Were the married couple happy while living in that castle? Don't they have children? The house is big enough to accommodate many children. Isn't it? Just don't want to have children. So, no one to inherit / to carry on to maintain the castle. Why buying a castle?
I loved the "then and now" aspect you employed in this video. Very sad to see the deterioration but very pleased you gave us the opportunity to see this wonderful place.
Elegantly beautiful with a sad and lonely wish for years gone by..
A wonderful job of editing the old scenes with the new!
Wow...that was......amazing. I love the before and after shots. It was almost kind of sad to see a place so full of wonderful memories now aging and decaying like that. Thanx for making this video......
What a great concept. Nicely done! It is amazing how fast homes deteriorate when they are not taken care of.
FANTASTIC video! I absolutely love the way you put it together.
Like everyone else, I think the 'then-now' concept and your presentation of it are awesome. Thank you very much, kits a beautiful property and hopefully someone will renovate it back to how it should be. Agin, well done!

+mathy906 >> Was this place in Belgium?
I thought that got torn down.
I really like your video - especially that it doesn't make me nauseous from all the shaky movement like so many UE vids which I really want to watch but often can't for more than a few minutes.
Fantastic work, great job on the angles & blending!
Very interesting to see the "then and now" shots. So sad that it's been left to fall apart.
How incredibly sad! Such a beautiful home and beautiful bride! It's a shame she and her husband couldn't save the place and raise their own children there. I can't imagine letting a place like that go to ruin.
amazing video...!!
beautiful castle......and extraordinary history....!!
That is magnificent! The attention to detail of the inner architecture! This is what fairytales are made of! What happened to the people who owned it? So beautifully exquisite! Thanks from Canada!
Thank you for sharing this absolutely beautiful home. I would have loved to live here.
So well done with the background to the story. So sad of a end to a era.

This is so beautiful yet so sad. To think a magnificent place like this can deteriorate in 20 years is heart breaking. Thanks for Sharing :)
Sad for such magnificent buildings are left abandoned. Makes me cry thinking this.
Beautifully done mathy906
great capturing ! love the now and then...
sorry for the late reply, so, the original owners had the house always well maintained, but when it was sold to a couple, it was completely emptied to modernize, but amidst the renovations, separated the couple and the works were stopped. and this is the sad result that slowly decays with all the memories... :/

Haunting and beautiful.
Very nicely done, what happened to this beautiful ole place ?? GREAT video ..
Its so heartbreaking to see how this home was once so full of life and now its been stripped down.
I love this house ❤️ So sad to see it deteriorate. :( Does anyone know the music in the background?
Amazing video.. Just wonder why they left the piano behind but took all of the floor tiles and wall papers?
(cont.) the Lippens family from the freezer company O'Cool (lol, cool name). They were in their 70's and wanted to go live smaller, after having owned it for 20 yrs. The demise of this beautiful place is so sad!

So sad.. I feel sad for the house.
O sorry, of course: so, a couple bought it from the Lippens and then the couple separated. Didn't they put it up for sale? Why?

Gorgeous place.. too bad .. hope someone comes and loves it.

I find it even more sad seeing the people and then they disappear. Weird

Belgium,West-Vlaanderen, you need more,?
And that's just 27 seconds in!
This is sad too see. Someone buy it and clean it up I say.
WOW..someone buy this PLEASE!!!
mansions are too over the top,,, too much maintenance and people do not need that big of a place to live in
wish they would have let me have it, i would have loved living there my entire life
so so sad :(
de ce e abandonata acum ,si unde e familia
Why doesn't someone just buy it and renovate if it's so beautiful?
It does kind of look like it's being refurbished.
What a shame
know it a building but the building it self look sad itself
Looks like it is being fixed
unfortunately a true story...
Were the married couple happy while living in that castle?
Don't they have children?
The house is big enough to accommodate many children. Isn't it?
Just don't want to have children. So, no one to inherit / to carry on to maintain the castle. Why buying a castle?
They were celebrating their marriage in the home of one of their parents, but usually wouldn't have been living there after the marriage.
Thank you. Just could not stand the way the castle becomes ruins. Every time watching this video, I feel uneasy.
Yes, me too
was this supposed to be depressing? :(
of course.. same story over and over and over.. old guy with money.. pretty young blonde=divorce and ruin it all ugh
